Purim commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people through the courage and obedience of Esther and Mordecai. Each put their lives on the line amid great threat and spiritual hostility. God answered with a dramatic reversal of fate, granting the Jews victory over those who sought their destruction.
Putting the "HA-man" on Trial
The book of Esther is set in what is now modern-day Iran. The same ancient powers that sought to annihilate her people back then can be heard echoing in our cities today with chants of "Death to the Jews!" This is not a hollow threat. The Iranian regime possesses one of the largest ballistic missile arsenals in the Middle East, with thousands of missiles capable of reaching U.S. bases and allied partners—including Israel. It is widely believed that Iran has also advanced its nuclear capabilities to a level that poses an existential threat to Israel.
Meanwhile, anti-Jewish ideologies are influencing the minds of our generation. During the Yeshua Fast of 2021, we received a prophetic dream declaring that we were in a holy war—not against flesh and blood, but against a global pandemic of antisemitism. In the dream, it was said that the spirit of Haman the Agagite had been fueling Hamas.
Several years ago, while our team was fasting in San Diego, Chris Berglund had another dream in which we were instructed to put "HA-man" on trial. The "HA," which in earlier dreams had stood for "Homosexuality" and "Abortion," now represented the "Holocaust Attitude" and the "Hitler Agenda." In the dream, he understood the Holocaust Attitude to reflect the mindset that prevailed in the United States prior to entering World War II—when many were content to let others address the plight of the Jews before we became involved ourselves. A Mordecai Movement and a Corporate Esther
In this same dream, Chris saw that Lou was leading a "Mordecai Moment." It was as though the entire prayer movement had become a corporate Mordecai. In light of this dream, we believe that the gathering of A Million Women on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., on October 12, 2024, was our "Mordecai Moment"—but now it is becoming a movement.
We have come to a time where the Church—both men and women—are being commissioned as a corporate Esther in the cosmic battle that is raging against the Jewish people.
Unified Intercession
While the nations stand at the precipice of war in the Middle East, the Ekklesia must take up the weapons of our spiritual warfare. During this three-day fast at Purim, let us focus in unified intercession:
• Plead the blood of Jesus over our nation and over all of Israel.
• Restrain the spirit of Haman and its murderous agenda.
• Pray for the removal of the veil of spiritual blindness and antisemitic ideologies (Isaiah 25:6–9).
• Declare Jeremiah 49:35—the breaking of the bow of Elam and freedom for the Iranian people living under this oppressive regime.
