GEORGE WASHINGTON: "..THIS IS A MATTER OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE TO PREVENT..THE ENEMY FROM TAKING..THE CITY OF NEW YORK...AS THEY WILL THEREBY COMMAND THE COUNTRY." January 8, 1776 ================================================================ A CALL TO REVOLUTION AS TOLD BY AMERICA'S ORIGINAL REVOLUTIONARY: -George Washington's words speak loudly today during the Terrorist Crisis By Nicole Schiava, Former Associate Press Reporter Located in New York City. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (New York City) --Across the river from a depleted New York skyline lies an ancient message for the church and country in the wake of last week's catastrophe at the World Trade Center. Three quotes from George Washington are memorialized on a Brooklyn pier across from Manhattan. Their content and their location directly east of the devastation downtown are a prophetic message of strategy and mobilization to the church in this hour, I believe. I visited the pier some 65 hours after the attacks to take in the sight where the Towers once stood and to pray and ponder the senseless tragedy. It was 3 a.m. and the first rains since the attacks were falling. The Lord seemed silent so after 30 minutes I turned to leave when the inscriptions on the ground caught my eye. I read these quotes, spoken by George Washington in 1776, sensing immediately they were uttered for today: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ GEORGE WASHINGTON: "This is a matter of the utmost importance to prevent the enemy from taking possession of the city of New York and the North River as they will thereby command the country." January 8, 1776 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I believe the Lord is speaking to the church of America a message of watching and praying. ALL of America should be praying for New York, especially now. The enemy is vying for the strategic position of the city as a gateway through which the people of America and all nations come and go. Prayer should blanket this city constantly. Imbedded in here is a spiritual message that New York's revival and restoration are crucial to the well being of the rest of the nation. The support of the Christian community is key always, but even more so now. In a city this size, churches feel like small parts of a large body. The Body of Christ must unite against the enemy. We must stop him at the gate. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ GEORGE WASHINGTON: "The fate of unborn millions will now depend on the courage and conduct of this army. We have, therefore, to resolve to conquer or die." July 22, 1776 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This statement struck me in two ways. First, our work is part of a greater strategy in God's ultimate plan. The Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, is always concerned about generations. Our response to this insidious attack will determine the course of the Church. Our action could mean entering the Promised Land, but our inaction could spell another 40 years in the wilderness. We must prepare the way for the Lord to work in future generations Second, I believe the Lord is speaking about the unborn millions of abortion victims. One of the battles this end time army will wage is to come against the shedding of innocent blood. The unborn millions depend on us to take up their cause. The Lord has called us to be His witnesses, his martyrs (Acts 1:8). Our resolve must be to fight to the death. Our 'courage and conduct' is going to require supernatural trust in the Lord and He is going to require greater levels of obedience, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ GEORGE WASHINGTON: "Remember, officer and soldiers, that you are freemen fighting for the blessings of liberty." August 23, 1776 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The word buzzing around Christian circles of late is "Revolution." We, as the Lord's servants walk in freedom, but ironically we must fight to possess our land and our destiny. The feeling of many people after these terrorist acts is that we cannot go back to 'business as usual,' neither in our lives nor our prayers. Many cite the Twin Tower attacks as a wake up call to Christians. Hopefully it won't take any more lives lost to get Christians' attention. RECRUITMENT HAS TRIPLED FOR THE "ARMED SERVICES" If events in the world parallel the spiritual realm, this is good news: Recruitment is reportedly tripled for the armed services, the Central Intelligence Agency and other agencies in the days following the attacks in New York and Washington. Let's pray that means Christians are mobilizing in a unified assault waged on their knees for the soul of this nation. These words were spoken by the father of our nation, George Washington - a man who led a world-altering revolution and birthed a great nation under God. Let us pray that in this hour we chart a course to make history that will be recorded in the chronicles of Heaven. Emerging from the rubble of the World Trade Center are a few miraculous-- if not prophetic stories. -------------------------------------------------------------
MAN WAS LED THROUGH DARKNESS TO SAFETY BY THE WIND AND WATER
------------------------------------------------------------- One man escaped just before the collapse of the first building by following a current of wind and a trail of water. Tom Mylott was in the first tower on Tuesday when it was struck. He was injured by shattered glass and waited in an underground lobby where he was told he'd be safe. After a few minutes though, he sensed that he should go outside and he left the area despite being urged to stay. He said, "I'm leaving, is anyone coming with me?" When he opened the door he was in complete darkness. People who followed him called out. He instructed them to follow his voice. "God showed me the way," he said. "I followed the wind and the water." ===============================================
"EVERYONE WAS CALLING OUT THE NAME OF JESUS" =============================================== He crawled and walked in the direction of a wind current through a corridor until he came to an opening, got out of the building and headed in the direction of the sun seconds before the building collapsed. "Everyone was calling out the name of Jesus in those moments," he said. When he got home and realized what happened the Lord showed him two significant lessons: 1. Do not depend on the security man has built. 2. We must be led by the wind of God and the water. Those direct us to the Son.
