Dear Beloved,

It has long been prophesied/stated that our world would be radically changed in a moment, in the blinking of an eye. The events of September 11, 2001 have, in some measure, fulfilled this prophecy. The horrible events of recent days have been overwhelming, like nothing else in our generation. However, be very sure: what the foe of our soul intended for bad, God HIMSELF will work for good. Our nation has and is being forever changed by these events. But these changes will transform us; we will again shine bright as a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden. We are being changed for the better.

We have seen the destruction of our way of life and are now entering into a new world, one that is drastically darker, radically less stable. But understand this: We are not ensnared in a world without God.

As I watched these events unfold I could not escape the expressions on the faces of people. Their faces formed with looks of bewilderment and complete confusion. They were baffled and mystified that something like this could come into their world.

Without a doubt, the promise of the Lord remains true, though "darkness will cover the earth, and deep darkness the peoples; but the Lord will rise upon you, and His glory will appear upon you."

The effect of this emergence of divine glory in the midst of terrible darkness is that "nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising" (Isaiah 60:1-3) The good news of the gospel of Christ Jesus will go across the nations. People are open and their troubled and perplexed hearts are open to the message of hope, mercy and grace. It is time to let your light shine.

Thank God for President Bush and his leadership during these days. The anointing of God's Holy Spirit is resting upon him. With quite confidence and a noble, humble heart he is seeking the guidance of God. There is a grace upon him to project hope and assurance, only because he himself is trusting in the Lord and the power of His might. Continue to lift him and the other leaders of the nations before the throne of God in prayer.

In his address to the nation Tuesday night he quoted, "Though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we will fear no evil, for You are with us." This is the key-we are not alone, for the Living God is with us. He has not forsaken His people. He is a very present help in the time of trouble. It is time for all of us to lift up our eyes to the Lord from which comes our help. (Psalm 121) Notice the promise of these comforting words from Psalm 23. "Though we walk through the valley…You are with us." A valley is a low place and this is a low place in our history, yet we can go through without fear because God is with us. It is by the grace and power of God that we will pass through this dark time.

Even in the worst of times God will bring out the best in people. Even in the midst of trauma, many, many miracles of grace are being documented. Noble character and virtue are being brought to the forefront and people are being brought ever closer to God and to each other. This shaking will result in bringing our nation together in unity on a level not seen in our lifetime.

Peter Jennings, anchor for ABC News, said, "Prayer…is becoming the fabric of life in America."

The nation has been united to lift its voice in a cry to heaven for help. This is a true statement, "There has never been more prayer ascending from Americans."

People are crying out to God by untold thousands. Our nation is seeing prayer vigils in hundreds of cities, in our nation's Capitol and in streets and hospitals. Cathedrals, storefronts, homes, churches and synagogues are filled with millions turning to God in deep, sincere prayer. There has never been more prayer ascending from Americans. People of all walks and all faiths are joining their hands and hearts in their cry to God.

God has promised us that when we pray, He will hear our prayers and forgive our sins and heal our land. These are prayers that have touched the Heart of God and HE is moving on our behalf. We are seeing the cleansing of the very soul of our nation.

Continue to Cry out, "Help, Oh, Lord!"
