Catherine Brown: "His Love is a Miracle"

by Catherine Brown
Dec 22, 2008

Steve ShultzFrom the desk of Steve Shultz:

Catherine Brown has been sharing a teaching about Exodus and what it means to walk it out. This is the third part in her series and what a time to reflect on leaving the past behind and moving onto our future. I couldn't say it better than what Catherine shares here:

"If God asks you to give something up, you can be assured that He will always replace it with something much better. As 2008 comes to an end, don't be afraid to give up the old to receive the blessing of the new. Letting go begins with letting Him in and learning to rely on His gentle, perfect love. This Christmas, let God's love take you to a new place of peace-filled surrender."

Here are also a couple of Catherine Brown's books with a brand new one called Miracles to Mayhem. I highly encourage you to purchase it and read about God's miracle-working power in her life.

Catherine Brown:
"His Love is a Miracle"

Together in the harvest,

His Love is a Miracle

I recently met a precious homeless man in France. He sat in the most horrible of conditions, surrounded by walls splattered with excrement with his few worldly belongings strewn haphazardly around him. I was deeply moved when he told me that his heart was full of pain. My interpreter helped me to share God's love with him and explain that Jesus can heal any and all pain. I invited the man to come to our meeting and to hear the message of Life. He responded that he was unable to because he was afraid that his belongings would be stolen.

My heart missed a beat on his behalf. Whilst I understood his dilemma, I knew that Jesus was asking him to trust, even if it meant losing all to walk with the Master. Sadly, my new friend did not come. However, I held his hand and told him how much Jesus loved him and prayed for God's love to heal him and then I left and returned to the conference at which I was speaking. The man had tears of hope in his eyes; Jesus was pouring out healing through a simple prayer. God stands at the door of our hearts today, waiting to open up such divine opportunities of blessings for each one of us.

As I write to you, I recall testimony from our recent healing meeting in which Jesus moved powerfully in salvation and in miracle-working power to heal a man from paralysis in his hand as the result of a stroke. Just five days after the meeting, I was rushed into the hospital in the early hours of the morning after spending a night with excruciating pain in my stomach and back accompanied by severe vomiting. I had lots of tests carried out and it would seem to be an isolated incident and the doctors don't expect any further episodes. Praise God!

I had to make a stand against the fear that sought to encamp around me as a result of that unexpected incident. God graciously permitted me to leave the pain and fear at the Cross and move ahead. Likewise, I encourage you to contend for your miracle.

At Christmas, we rejoice as we remember the miracle of God's love and that Jesus has paid the price for our freedom by His Blood. He is eternally Jehovah Rapha, the God who heals. Hallelujah!

The Lord is God

"The Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen." Exodus 14:18

In deliverance we are made aware of His Lordship. In acknowledging God as all-powerful, all-knowing and all-present, we anchor ourselves in the most secure foundation in Heaven and on Earth. God's covenant blessing extends to us and to our children's children, and in being found in Him, our hearts are filled with hope as we wait expectantly for God to move on our behalf.

Angelic Intervention in God's Rescue Plan for His Children

"Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel's army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel." Exodus 14:19-20

There is often angelic intervention in God's rescue plan as the Lord stands between His children and the enemy. God caused separation between Pharaoh, his hordes and the Israelites, bringing darkness to one side and light to the other. When we learn to focus on His presence, we get a revelation in our hearts and minds of His power and love. Staying focused on Father is a fundamental aspect of remaining steadfast in faith. We can ask God to make a way to separate us from the harm the enemy would seek to inflict upon us. God's timing for divine intervention in our lives is always perfect.

Healing - a Continuous Process Within a Designated Time Frame

"Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land." Exodus 14:21

The miracle of healing didn't happen immediately for the Israelites - it was a continuous process within a designated time frame. It is my belief that actual deliverance is immediate, but the process of healing old mindsets, coping mechanisms and unhealthy lifestyle patterns associated with the deliverance may take some time to fully come to fruition and completion in our lives.

Don't let that process put you off; the Holy Spirit brings change on our behalf. Our job is to surrender and not give up. God will work with our availability, and along the way He will teach us how to be fully committed to His truth. Like Moses, we have to continue in obedience. We may also need to act more than once for the fullness of healing, but one thing is certain - it will surely come!

When we understand that God's presence is a source of eternal protection and provision, it makes it easier to access these blessings by faith. Sometimes God will require us to give up relationships or habits that are not His best for us. If God asks you to give something up, you can be assured that He will always replace it with something much better. As 2008 comes to an end, don't be afraid to give up the old to receive the blessing of the new.

I once met a woman from Australia who visited me at my home. Whilst we were chatting, the Holy Spirit clearly impressed to me that I was to give her my Mum's eternity ring. It was a beautiful ring with ornate carving. It wasn't worth a lot in financial terms, but it was something extremely special to me, which my Mum had given me before she died.

My heart hesitated for a moment and then God's love flooded my being. I went and got the ring and presented it to the lady as a gift from Father. She wept for the longest time before she was able to compose herself. Finally she was able to speak and told me that she had never received a wedding ring when she got married more than forty years previously and how she had always wanted one. She was perhaps in her sixties and that day God granted the desire of her heart.

The blessing of giving the ring away and seeing the healing it brought to this dear woman far outweighed the initial thought of what I thought I might lose in giving away a precious heirloom. I could never have put a price on the joy Jesus poured into both our hearts that day. The key to knowing God is trusting the quiet whisper of His voice. Letting go begins with letting Him in and learning to rely on His gentle, perfect love. This Christmas, let God's love take you to a new place of peace-filled surrender. We are blessed to be a blessing.

Your Breakthrough is Near - Don't Give Up

"During the last watch of the night the LORD looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion." Exodus 14:24

It is said that it is darkest before dawn breaks. If you have ever sat through the night you will know how fascinating it is to watch night darkness withdraw as it gives way to the first light of dawn. One moment the sky is pitch black and then suddenly subdued hues of soft red, grey and orange rays give way to the bright light of dawn breaking through triumphantly.

In spiritual terms, the "last watch" of the night, i.e. the time just before breakthrough, is often when we feel like giving up. In my earlier walk with Christ, I spent seven years being healed from a lifestyle of violence and abuse. Each time God healed me I learned to trust Him a little more. Trusting Him revealed more of His incredible love for me, and throughout the seven years I sought Jesus with all my heart.

Certainly there were days I felt like giving up, but I wouldn't give in. There were moments when all I could "feel" was pain, anger, despair and an inability to articulate any or all of it, but God held me steady through some extremely turbulent times. Our walk with God is not about what we "feel." Emotions are a valid part of our human make up, however, we are to be a Spirit-people. This Christmas, let the light of God's love be a lamp for your feet to bring His wisdom and direction.

Even so, we acknowledge the paradox that healing can be painful, but still we must pursue Christ with a whole heart. Our sonship is a priceless pearl compared to living in bondage to sin and pain. Forgiving others will open up a whole new horizon of healing in and through your life. Truly, God is Immanuel, with us in all that we walk through.

When God Moves on Our Behalf All Hell Trembles

"He made the wheels of the chariots come off...And the Egyptians said, 'Let's get away from the Israelites! The LORD is fighting for them against Egypt'...The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen - the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived." Exodus 14:25, 27-28

The great delivering power of God is displayed for all to see and the enemy was thrown into confusion. Oh hallelujah, when God moves on behalf of His loved ones - all hell trembles! Have you ever pondered Jesus as the King of kings? Ever really thought about what He is going to look like wearing a robe dipped in Blood, with a double-edged sword in His mouth?! I tell you beloved, He is Almighty God. He will never leave you and He has fought for our freedom with His dying breath on the Cross.

Now He rises resplendent with healing in His wings. This healing is accessible for all. No matter what you have endured, whether physical or mental, emotional or spiritual, I know that Jesus can heal your pain and your past and become your Holy Passion. I know because I am a living trophy of His grace.

Father, right now in the mighty name of Yeshua, I speak breaker anointing for healing, creative miracles, and release the explosive power of Your love over every reader. For Jesus' sake. Amen.

The Fear of the Lord is the Beginning of Wisdom

"And when the Israelites saw the great power the LORD displayed...the people feared the LORD and put their trust in Him and in Moses His servant." Exodus 14:31

As a result of the demonstration of God's delivering power, the fear of the Lord fell on the people and they trusted in His appointed leadership and in God Himself.

My dear friends, this Christmas it is my earnest prayer that you will each walk in the full potential of your destiny in God, experiencing all His blessing and a deeper walk of communion with Him. May you know His peace and joy in untold measure.

In summing up our journey through Exodus, perhaps we might agree:

• Exodus is a necessary part of God's plan to accelerate us into the next stage of our Kingdom destiny. We can and must trust His Lordship.

• We have to be willing to leave the past behind to step into potential and promises of our future.

• We must appropriate the Blood of the Lamb. He is our Passover King. His Blood will deliver us from "Egypt," i.e. everything that causes us harm and leads to "death" such as old habits, thought patterns, and coping mechanisms. To appropriate the Blood means to exercise faith in what Jesus has accomplished for us through His sacrifice at Calvary (total healing of mind, body and soul, and forgiveness of all our sins).

• In the wilderness we need to remember Jesus Christ is our Messiah, Saviour and strong Deliverer. He carries the breakthrough anointing that will deliver us from any circumstance of defeat into a new day of hope and change.

• Take courage as you walk through the waters of affliction. The Israelites had a wall of water on either side, but they went forward nonetheless. Walking with God takes us away from evil as He lights our path with His presence and His Word.

• Stillness precedes strategy and rest is part of recovery. Take time to be with God; read His Word. Rest and sleep if you are tired and recharge your batteries. We enter the battle from a place of rest.

• Your future begins today with the choices you make and the steps of faith that you take. Don't settle for second best; allow God's grace to propel you into your destiny. Don't give fear a foothold, let faith and grace be your anchor in the storm.

• We are revived for mission. We are redeemed for a reason: to be commissioned and sent forth to tell of His miracle working love and power. It's not about us, it's all about Him.

• The Church is anointed to overcome!

Yours, because we are His,
