THE NINTH OF THE MONTH OF AV in the Hebrew calendar, which is coming on August 12, is historically a bad day in the collective Jewish memory. It is the very calendar day on which the first Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians, the second by the Romans, and countless other pogroms, waves of persecution, and disasters erupted throughout the painful centuries! The period between now and then is a precarious time for the Jewish nation as an inordinate number of tragedies have taken place during this season. Let us watch and pray with vigilance as the destroyer has already struck!
