1. ARAFAT CALLS FOR 'GREAT BATTLE' From his offices in Gaza today, PA Chairman Yasser Arafat released a statement calling upon the Arabs of Judea, Samaria, and Gaza to prepare for "the great battle." He said that the Palestinian Arabs should "amass might, intelligence, and food" and "meticulously plan each stage of the battle." In response, Prime Minister Netanyahu stated at a press conference this afternoon: "I hope that these kind of vituperative statements are done away with. They are not going to serve to get us closer to peace, and they certainly will not achieve what will truly strengthen the Palestinian Authority - and that is fighting terrorism and resisting and indeed stopping rhetorical incitement."
