DEATH OF RICH MULLINS

Christian musician Rich Mullins was killed in a traffic accident near Lostant, Ill., last weekend. Mullins, 42, and his drummer, Mitchell McVicker, 24, were traveling on Interstate 39 when their Jeep went out of control and flipped over. The two men were thrown from the vehicle and Mullins was struck by a passing semi-trailer, according to news reports. It is not clear who was driving the Jeep. McVicker was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Mullins is best known as the writer of the contemporary worship songs Our God Is An Awesome God and Step by Step. He released his first album in 1986 and has received 12 Dove Awards over the years.
