Understanding God's Language

Count Basie, the great jazz artist, said, "Everyone prays in their own language. There is no language that God doesn't understand." I personally believe there is a language that God has given to mankind in order for us to communicate freely with Him. In this day and age, we have so many different forms of non-verbal communication, oftentimes preventing eye contact and direct confrontation. Instant messaging, text messaging and email to mention a few, are great to use when a message needs to be sent, but not a wise choice to carry on an intelligent conversation.

God loves it when we use the various languages that He gives us to communicate with Him: faith, passion, love, praise, worship, silence, and the list goes on. We try to communicate to God using our finest articulating skills, hoping to impress Him. But after realizing that our words simply fall to the ground because our hearts are disengaged, we feel less than perfect and even worse, we pull away from God.

John Fisher wrote: "A good man is not a perfect man; a good man is an honest man, faithful and unhesitatingly responsive to the voice of God in his life."

Perfection--who asked for it? Who wants it? Faith is not faith without unbelief. Doubt is an unavoidable part of belief. Doubt isn't the opposite of faith; it is an element of faith. In Genesis 11, men tried to do something that God did not want. They started building upward into Heaven when God in fact wanted them to spread out horizontally throughout the earth. Today we find mankind, especially Christians, trying to do the same thing: avoid the connection with earth and fly away to an ethereal world created through our poetic imagination. What God did in Genesis 11 was an easy solution to the problem. He confounded their language and gave them languages. He never removed their imagination, which was apparently one of the causes of the problem.

God evaluates the problem in Genesis 11:6, "And the Lord said, 'Indeed the people are one and they all have one language, and this is what they begin to do; now nothing that they imagine to do will be withheld from them.'"

In other words, whatever they imagine to do, they will succeed in doing. The power of the imagination was crippled without the ability to vocalize it clearly to each other. Once this happened, they scattered and went where they were supposed to go--to the uttermost parts of the earth. Genesis 1:28 says, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish, birds and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

Without God's voice directing us, we are lost because we never know what is on His mind. We have become a people that prefer to "text message" God--to avoid spending time with the real true Being. We are at a distance and so we feel safe, but are we really? God's voice brings ultimate fulfillment. We were born with the desire to have spiritual fulfillment and if it is not present in our lives, we will find fulfillment elsewhere and there will always be a constant vacuum in our lives.

CS Lewis wrote: "Creatures are not born with desires unless satisfaction for those desires exists. A baby feels hunger; well there is such a thing as food; a duckling wants to swim; well there is such a thing as water, etc. If I find myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world."

We are no longer primitive. Now the whole world seems "not holy." Humanity has moved from Pantheism to pan-atheism. Pan-atheism is the belief that because there is no God, nothing can be properly termed sacred or holy. It is hard to desecrate a grove and change your mind. Humanity has doused the burning bush and cannot rekindle it. They are lighting matches in vain under every green tree. Was there a time when the wind would cry out His praise or the hills would shout and extol Him?

The Elements Communicate

Recently, God has used me to give prophetic words regarding the elements in relation to His voice and His plans. The wind, rain, fires and earthquakes are all used in the prophetic communication to direct His people and as signs for things to come. Most of the time, we are at odds with the weather and see it as a commotion resulting from weather patterns, etc. I believe that wherever there is motion, there is a greater force behind it--a voice. In other words, wherever there is motion--a voice exists. We think that any motion, including commotion, is simply a reaction to our actions.

But could it be that God still speaks from the whirlwind? When will we recognize that His voice may be in the fire or the earth? The earth also has a voice, but that is not how God intended it to be. Because we have not stepped into the dominion that God originally gave Adam and have not carried the Voice to speak and command, the earth has been forced to cry out. God's voice is in the earth, the trees, the stones, etc., but the fact is that His ultimate desire is to speak through man, not the elements.

God gave us the Voice back when He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to put life back into lifeless things, including us. He spoke to a fig tree and there was motion. He commanded the wind and there was a change of position. Motion is the process of moving and changing place or position. He was removing death out of the things of the earth with His voice, so that mankind could have dominion; and instead of the elements constantly changing our place or position, God's voice should be directly guiding us. There came a point where Elijah, the great prophet, had to face the fact that in his darkest hour, the wind, earthquake and fire brought no direction from God (1 Kings 19:11-13). He heard something, which the Bible describes as the "still, small voice," which caused motion.

Jesus instructed us to use our faith, and to speak to the mountain to remove it, if necessary. He dealt with the earth, the LIVING things on the earth including the fish, water, wind and trees, and even received the dove as the form taken on by the Holy Spirit to rest upon Him (Matthew 3:16). He commanded Peter to find his tax money in the mouth of a fish, and after Peter cast his net into the vast waters, he discovered a fish with a coin in its mouth (Matthew 17:27). Christ is the Word and He brought the mind of God with Him to the earth. But the most beautiful thing about it is that He transferred the Word into us so that we could be the Voice to anything dying or lifeless.

YOU have the Voice inside of you. You have the ability to hear God directly. Don't let the rocks out praise you. You have God-given dominion over the things of the earth to speak life to the lifeless. Christ came to this earth to be life to the lifeless, hope to the hopeless, and a friend to the friendless.

The Spirit of God says, "I've planned a great Christmas for My people. It will be a Christmas that you'll understand where I'm taking you to in this land. The flag will fly, and men will sigh, and they will know that I am here in this land. For Christmas will be the time that I will come and show you something new. There will be miracles on every street, there will be miracles in every family, and if you look for Me, you'll find Me there. There will be miracles for every family. You will see the sign upon the tree. It will bring them together as one because of Me."

"Strongholds and forces of hell who would try and detune the pleasurable sounds of Christmas--this prophet prophesies, 'Nothing shall be successful in your attempt to bring blood over the Christmas season!' The only blood that they shall know about is the Blood of My Son," says the Spirit of the Lord. "There will be a miracle on every street. I have a miracle in every family. If you open up your eyes, you'll find Me there. There will be joy to the world. The faithful will come. Silent night will bear His only Son. I'll be there in the songs. Watch Me on the TV."

For God says, "The season of 2008 will bring about families being united, prisoners being freed, and drug addicts, alcoholics, atheists, and agnostics suddenly getting a glimpse of something they don't really know and cannot pronounce nor interpret--but it is Me," says the Lord. "This building is one of many that I will raise up for media."

A Letter of Gratitude

I would like to share something personal with you that really touched me. For almost a year now, my wife Jane and I have been sowing personally and from our ministry into the people of my native land, South Africa. I've attached a letter of gratitude that I received recently from my dear friends that assist me in distributing these gifts, and I hope you are encouraged as you read it, knowing you are also a part of this as you support our ministry.

"Dear Kim,

This letter serves to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donations, which enables us to meet many needs in our country. The most recent recipient is Mbali. Mbali, a 40-year-old mother of three, had to resign as a teacher due to sudden kidney failure. She has been receiving dialysis twice a week since 2004, whilst waiting for a 'miracle'--a compatible kidney. Mbali has no siblings and as her children are underage, they are not allowed to donate an organ. By some miracle working power, Mbali's husband proved to have a perfect match in his body--his kidney is compatible! However, the cost of having the transplant is exceptionally high and way out of their reach. Last year, the couple went on national television with their plight--to no avail. We inserted an appeal for donations towards this cause in our school newsletter. This too proved fruitless. We are most concerned as Mbali's veins are collapsing from the constant needles. Nevertheless, the couple continued to put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. After our visit to America in November 2006, you began to send finances to be used for the many needs that we come across. Mbali's plight, incidentally her English name is Kim, was high on the list of those who were desperate for help. It is now eight months later and we have sufficient funds for the kidney transplant!

As you are aware from the correspondence received from some of the residents of the old age home, your generous donations have been put to good use. To date, some of the finances you have sent have been used to purchase desperately needed toasters, kettles, hotplates, blankets and linen for the rooms of many residents. Many residents have been able to get necessary medication and medical treatment for their ailments. Several can now see private doctors; one case springs to mind. A resident, who is a diabetic, needed to have two gangrenous toes removed. Without your generosity, I don't know what would have happened to her as her pension barely covers the expense of her room. There are so many cases like this. Another resident was able to purchase the pills she needed to control the epilepsy from which she suffers.

I recall at the Christmas Carol service evening in December, as many as ten old people squashed around a table meant for three at the most. I also recall noticing chairs which were about to break. (What broke my heart was that so many people appeared to need reading glasses as they squinted to see the words, which were written on a hand-out). From the finances you have sent to date, this room has been furnished with extra tables and chairs, broken chairs have been mended, curtains have been made, and a few pictures have been purchased. This has completely transformed the room, and the residents are now beginning to regain their sense of pride. Our future plan is to have every resident's eyes tested and to purchase glasses for those who need them. The next big project is to provide a library in an unused room.

With some of the money you have sent, tickets have been purchased for the residents to have an outing--a VERY rare occasion. They will be attending a musical evening and will each be given a 'goodie box.' This is a great highlight in their lives and has caused great excitement--for this, we thank you.

The Lord clearly states we are to assist widows and orphans. Although not orphaned, a little girl we know has just lost her 35-year-old father to leukemia. Within a week of the diagnosis, he had died, leaving a young widow who really needs two salaries to survive. From your most recent donation to the people of South Africa, we plan to buy this child uniforms, stationary and books (she is due to start school in January), and plan to assist her in the payment of school fees.

I speak on behalf of all the above people as I thank you and the Lord for the blessing you have been, and continue to be to the people of South Africa. You have certainly touched lives and have given comfort and hope to many." --Love, Edwina
