When all else fails, I am good. When all else comes to nothing, I remain good. When turmoil rages and men ask why, I am good. Though darkness covers the earth, and evil rears its ugly head across the lands, I remain good.

My goodness covers the earth like the atmosphere. It is time for you to declare it, decree it and access it to its fullness. Pull it down over your heads like a garment and wrap yourself in My goodness. Stand in My goodness and I will display its fullness in your life."

Devotional Teaching

God is reminding me of something very, very simple--going back to the basics as it were--and that simple foundational concept is GOD IS GOOD!

It's an amazing thought that although the Lord sees all and knows everything transpiring on the face of this planet, both the good and the evil, within His nature there remains only goodness. Pure, raw, goodness. He is as good as good gets!

And not only that, He desires to pass this goodness onto you, "We are filled with the good things of Your house" Psalm 65:4. Now for those who are struggling with something that seems "not good" that is happening in and around our lives (and which of us isn't, in one area or another?!), it may be easy to say this concept of God "being good" is too simple. But, perhaps our problem is we're not simple enough!

We need to come back to the very basic concept that God is GOOD, and only GOOD! He can only give good gifts, not one bad gift can come forth from His nature and no good thing does He withhold from us. Psalm 119:68 says it the best: "You are good, and what You do is good." Does our theology need to be much more complicated than that?"

So, let's choose to focus on all the good things God has done and continues to do. Worship Him and His goodness. Thank Him for the many good things He has done. I love the verse in Lamentations 3:21 that starts with: "Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope....", and then goes on to list God's good qualities of love, compassion and mercies and then says, "The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him" (verse 25).

When we focus on the good things God has already done, it lifts us to a higher place and gives our faith a platform to believe for continued good. Declaring His goodness changes the atmosphere around us. Even in the darkest of situations, when we choose to focus on His goodness, it brings a strong and sure platform of faith.

It's too easy to give ear to the despair in the evening news and all the other negative things thrown our way each day. But let's take our thoughts captive and immerse ourselves in the goodness of God.

Take a moment, close your eyes, and praise Him for His goodness. Decree the many, many times His goodness has been displayed in your life--His provision, His guidance, His words of life whispered in your heart...the list is endless. Ah, doesn't that feel better already?!!

The point of this devotional is for us to come back to the very simple concept of which to center our thoughts and lives:

GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME and ALL THE TIME, GOD IS GOOD.
