THE DIVER -- AND SINNERS-- A word from God about Sinners

One day, a diver was enjoying the aquatic world 20 feet below sea level. He noticed a guy at the same depth he was, but he had no scuba gear whatsoever. The diver went below another 20 feet, and the guy joined him a few minutes later. The diver went below another 25 feet, and minutes later, the same guy joined him. This confused the diver, so he took out a waterproof chalkboard set, and wrote, "How the heck are you able to stay under this deep without equipment?"

The guy took the board and chalk, erased what the diver had written, and wrote, "I'm drowning, you moron!"

Some vagaries after reading this joke...

Isn't it amazing how we, Christians, get so freaked-out, agitated and surprised at the world? Sinners, by virtue of where they are at (no revelation of grace) can very well be expected to sin.

Are you surprised at the fact that fish swim or that birds fly? Well then, along the same lines sinners sin...they will swear, get drunk, sleep around, deal shrewdly, lie etc. This should in no way make us think that we are any better; it is by grace that we are saved.

Bind that pharisaic attitude! We have not been commissioned to judge but to minister reconciliation. This can only start by identification (Christ did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, taking on the form of a servant, He was made in the likeness of men; And being found in the fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient to death, even death on the cross. Phil 2). Only when we can identify with where people are at can we begin to truly reach out to them in faith...
