Reuven and Mary Lou Doron: "A TIMELY VISION FROM ISRAEL--GOD IS HOVERING OVER THE FACE OF MANY WATERS, SEPARATING LIGHT FROM DARKNESS"

"But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, in order that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons." Galatians 4:4-5

doronModern Christian worldview often associates the first coming of the Lord with happy, good times filled with cheer and gladness. We are inundated with images of a festive Christmas Eve celebration, reclining by a warm fire among loved ones, sharing gifts and goodies, and singing carols to our hearts delight. However, the fact is that the historic coming of the Lord Jesus couldn't have been further from this pleasant picture we have created for ourselves.

That "fullness of time," according to God's calendar and the historic record, found Israel at an all-time low! The nation was desperately oppressed under pagan Roman rule; the priesthood was corrupt and riddled with political power players; the population was systematically taxed to death; and the prophetic voice had been silent for nearly 400 years. Historically, Jesus couldn't have come at a worse time, yet, according to the Word of God, that time was the "fullness of time" for Israel and for the nations of the world.

It is the same for you and for us. The Lord's most dramatic and profound appearances in our lives and circumstances often occur at the lowest of times when we are least prone to self-reliance, pride, or superficial theological gymnastics about non-essentials. Those are the precious times that spell "God or Bust" when we can truly learn through agonizing and enduring experiences, who the real God really is! In the same way, so it shall be for the whole world in the last days as we draw near, once again, to the "fullness of time," preparing for the Lord's second coming. This time He is coming in His power and glory to reign and rule the nations. Let us be sure our hearts are ready for His return.

VISION FROM ISRAEL: THE SPIRIT OVER THE WATERS

These words came clear and calm over the international phone line: "I saw in a vision a bird, partly dove and partly eagle, hovering over the face of many waters." This voice belonged to a believing soldier in the Israeli Defense Forces whose close walk with the Lord we deeply respect; he's a young warrior who is very dear to our hearts. This young man continued: "As I saw the vision, the Word of God came to me, saying, 'In the beginning God created the Heavens and the earth. And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness'" (Genesis 1:1-4).

"What the world is experiencing and will continue to experience in greater measure," said the young soldier, "is God separating light from darkness!" As personal tragedies, national disasters, and global mayhem continue to rock the nations, the Spirit of the Lord is hovering over the surface of the waters (multitudes of peoples) sifting motives, testing hearts, marking His own, and separating light from darkness. When adversity strikes close to home, pray you'll be found on God's side and not among the unbelieving, fear-stricken, fist-shaking, and blame-shifting crowd.

The expanding crisis is going to touch every human life on planet earth, no matter how protected some may be through riches, seclusion, or technology. Trials and tribulations have been decreed, and the saints of God must learn to silence the delusional clamor of "fair-weather prophets" who promise "peace, peace" while there is no peace. Rather, we must gird ourselves for action! When the bottom falls out, either through personal tragedy or national disasters, the only shelter will be found in the shadow of the Almighty and in the fellowship of His saints.

Virginia Tech was not the only place that tasted blood last week, yet it was unique in the level of evil that was manifest and the prophetic message it offers. In close proximity to the massacre in Virginia, two leading Christian men in Turkey were murdered by an Islamic madman while the United Bible Society bookstore in Gaza City was bombed to smithereens by a fellow soldier of Allah. On the front pages of Turkey's leading newspapers, a bold testimony was printed telling of the love of God, His salvation, and the power of forgiveness, signed by the two Turkish widows.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Messianic believers from Israel traveled to Turkey to comfort and encourage the saints mourning their loss, while the Bible Society manager in Gaza made known his intentions to continue his outreach to the Muslims despite the attacks. We are not aware of any major news media reporting these events. Do not be troubled, friend, God is separating light from darkness, and you must watch over your heart!

THE SMELL OF BLOOD

We could smell the sour stench of blood coming from the floors and walls of the Columbine High School in Littleton, Co, years after the massacre of 1999. Walking on the new linoleum floors and praying through the freshly painted corridors, we couldn't shake off nor escape the spiritual reek of blood still staining the grounds. Human blood is a unique commodity on planet earth; something altogether different from all other substances; something that has never been meant to be spilled in violent brutality. This is the reason God asked Cain, "What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying to Me from the ground" (Genesis 4:10). The stain of spilled human blood is permanent, and the prophetic saints will smell it.

What the media aptly headlined as the "Massacre at Virginia Tech," is a tragedy that should teach us some serious lessons. If we do not learn these lessons, then those lives were lost in vain. As parents who have buried a child, we are all too familiar with the unbearable pain and crushing agony of losing an offspring, of saying a final goodbye to flesh of our flesh all too early in their young life. Our hearts go out to the families of the slain, and our prayers join many others on their behalf. May they find comfort in God, and may He be glorified in them.

One of the glaring lessons of this tragedy is that the police, even close at hand, cannot possibly protect everyone against unexpected homicidal/suicidal attacks by psychopaths or terrorists. No campus or city police will ever be enough to prevent the terror that will inevitably occur just beyond their presence. Surveillance cameras and other gadgetry are effective to record the attacks, but they don't stop them. Only God can guard our lands, "Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain" (Psalm 127:1). Pray for your government officials--both local and national--to humble themselves before the Throne of Mercy and Grace, so as to secure God's protection.

THE NOTEWORTHY DEATH OF A JEWISH HERO

Professor Liviu LibrescuRemarkably, April 16, the Virginia Tech massacre date, fell on "Yom HaShoah," the day of remembrance of the Holocaust observed throughout the Jewish world as the people commemorate the six million souls slaughtered by Hitler's diabolic drive to rule a "'perfect" world. On that very day, a 75-year-old Holocaust survivor named Liviu Librescu laid down his life to save his students at Virginia Tech.

Even as Librescu's body is being transported to Israel for his burial by his family, the tale of his life and death echoes in the Heavens for all who have ears to hear. Professor Librescu, who had been teaching at Virginia Tech for 20 years, was a world-renowned lecturer and the professor with the highest number of publications in the history of Virginia Tech. After teaching at the Tel Aviv University and the Technical College at Haifa, he moved to the USA and settled in Virginia.

Firsthand accounts indicate that this Jewish holocaust survivor was apparently the only person who kept his cool during these hellish moments as he calmly walked over to his classroom door and used his own body to block the gunman while instructing his students to jump through the windows to safety. Librescu, who survived the Holocaust as a child only to give his life for his students at Virginia Tech, is one reason the death toll was not higher. Jesus said: "Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13).

How remarkable of God to have a survivor of the Holocaust save young lives, many of them Christian, during the Virginia Tech massacre on the very Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust! How much clearer can the sound of the trumpet be? How many more Jewish lives will it take to get the point across that the Spirit of God is separating light from darkness in our very days?

Through professor Librescu's life and death, the Spirit is reminding the saints not only of the past sufferings of the Jewish people during millennia of persecutions and anguish as they bore the mark of God in a hostile world, but also of the more sobering sacrifices that may yet be required of Israel, and of all of us, as lives are laid down to save others.

May God open your ears to hear His voice, strengthen your heart to carry your cross, and bless you with His love. He promised, saying,

"Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing; so that also at the revelation of His glory, you may rejoice with exultation. If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.

By no means let any of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler; but if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not feel ashamed, but in that name let him glorify God. For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the Gospel of God?" (I Peter 4:12-17).

His grace be with you,
