Out of the Past
It seems many in the church are going through a sifting. But, Alleluia!
Their trials have made them 100%
God-dependent, which of course was the intent. What satan meant for harm, Jesus
will use for His glory. He has "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans
to give you hope and a future" (Jeremiah 29:11).
Each person is given a measure of faith and God promises we will never be
tempted beyond what we can bear. God also promises to show His people a way out.
Most frequently we think of open doors from the Lord as walking into something,
but often He opens them so we can walk out of something.
We are now moving into
a season where God will say, "Here's your way out, here's the open door--walk
through it." Beloved, we must walk out of the past to walk into the future.
The Issues of Life
"There are some issues of
life only Jesus can heal."
When we study Scriptures about the woman with the issue of blood, we see she
suffered for 12 long years. She had spent all she had to live on seeking help
but, "no one could heal her" (Luke 8:43). We can try many different approaches,
as this woman did, but there are some issues of life only Jesus can heal.
Today we have support groups, healing sessions, specialists, and seminars for
every affliction imaginable. And, many of these are good. At the very least,
they pull people out of isolation, so the devil can't get them alone and beat
them to a pulp. Support validates people's feelings and reassures them that
there are thousands of others in the same battle.
But truly, there is nothing
"new" under the sun, and the Word remains the same yesterday, today, and forever. It
says, "no one could heal her." These five words are
greatly significant, Church!
If Jesus doesn't do the healing, it's just not going to happen!
As the Lord draws us back to the basics, back to Himself, we must constantly be
listening for His still, small voice. There are times we lay down mapping,
generational studies, and theories. We quietly and persistently press through the
crowds saying to ourselves, "If only I can touch His cloak, I will be healed"
(Matthew 9:21).
Sometimes, it seems we make Christianity too complex. As an intercessor, one of
the most powerful prayers is very childlike and simplistic. "Jesus, please fix me."
I know He can do that! After all, He's a carpenter and most certainly can
restore anyone's temple. Or, "Jesus, please fill me." If I'm truly filled with
the Spirit of God nothing else can enter in.
Double Trouble
You see, affliction is like chronic pain, when it doesn't go away, eventually
the enemy can use it to steal, kill, and destroy. Yes, we have faith and trust in
the Lord, but the affliction still exists. In fact, most afflictions eventually
become two problems--double trouble:
The affliction and the long suffering.
The backache and the heartache.
The poverty and the inability to advance the Kingdom.
The fibromyalgia and the lack of energy to serve Jesus.
The bitterness and the enemy's torment for revenge.
The depression and the isolation.
The addiction and the shame.
The broken heart and the broken relationships.
The secret and the guilt.
The unforgiveness and the separation from love.
Sometimes, if we aren't careful, the enemy can entrap us in a "survival mode."
Just hanging on can become a way of life, rather than a temporary test before
the testimony. Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil and give life
abundantly.
A Season of Blessing
"Pain has left a tender
spot in our hearts from which mercy and compassion can flow."
Friends, "The God of peace will soon crush satan under your feet" (Romans
16:20). Something indescribable happens when we realize that pain has become a
gift from our Father, making us more intimate with Jesus and forming His nature
within us.
Pain has left a tender spot in our hearts from which mercy and
compassion can flow. It's life-changing to know God never wastes pain. He didn't
waste His Son's, and He won't waste yours. He uses pain to perfect His love in us,
to make us overcomers and co-laborers with our Savior.
The Great Shepherd doesn't want His sheep bleeding for years. He doesn't want a
weak, anemic flock, but rather a strong, powerful army full of the spirit of
life as we prepare for His next mighty move!
After the woman touched the hem of
Jesus' garment, Luke 8:44 goes on to say,
"Immediately the bleeding stopped."
No
more double trouble! It's time beloved! King Jesus is about to walk through the
crowds. Press through and touch the Healer.
