Belt: "THE REAL DEAL--LOVE IS NOT A CONCEPT, IT'S AN EXPERIENCE"
The Depths of
His Presence
We don't want to be vacillating on the edge. We really want the depths of His
Presence. We need to desire to be vessels consumed with the reality of His
Presence; the reality of His works in our midst. It is not enough to know things
in the mind. We need to constantly experience His living presence with us, in us,
and flowing through us.
Psalm 77:11-12:
"I will remember the works of the LORD;
Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.
I will also meditate on all Your work,
And talk of Your deeds."
There is such satisfaction and contentment in this place where nothing can
compare. There is great peace and joy in being His house of prayer. When we
press in with earnest desire, hunger, and expectation, there He is waiting for us
(Matthew 7:7). He loves to pour out His love upon us.
It is about us being filled to overflowing
with His love. His love settles all the issues. Love overcomes evil. Love never
fails (I Corinthians 13:8). It is His love that we are in need
of.
"Love is not a concept. Love is an experience. The Lord loves His saints."
Deuteronomy 33:2-3:
"The LORD came from Sinai,
And dawned on them from Seir;
He shone forth from Mount Paran,
And He came with
ten thousands of saints;
From His right hand
Came a fiery law for them.
Yes, He loves the people;
All His saints are in Your hand;
They sit down at Your feet;
Everyone receives Your words."
Holy to the Lord
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness. We need to hunger for
holiness. The Lord is holy. When we are in His Presence, the first thing we find
coming out of our mouths is that "He is HOLY." That is the most distinguishing
characteristic of the Lord. That is what He longs for us to be, "Holy to the
Lord."
He is wholly different than us. He wants us to experience that kind of
divine life. The life of holiness is a Heavenly life. It is a peculiar life. The
Holy Spirit comes to impart that life to us, to help us walk in that way. The
life of holiness is the way of the Lord.
Exodus 28:36:
"You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving
of a signet:
HOLINESS TO THE LORD."
We are told not to learn the "way of the Gentiles"
(Jeremiah 10:2). That would
be equivalent to the way of the ungodly or the "unlike" God. But there is a
"way" that the Lord wants us to learn. It is the way of the Holy Spirit. A life
lived in sensitivity to the Spirit is a life worth living! It is a life of
righteousness, peace, and joy.
It is the Lord's holiness imparted
to us as we live in communion with the Holy Spirit. You become what you hang
around. Hang around the Holy Spirit! He has loads of benefits! Everything that
He is about is good. Jesus went around healing all those oppressed of the devil.
He did it all by the power of the Spirit.
The River of the Spirit
The Spirit of God is like a flowing river, a powerful river. Tap into that River,
and then He will rush through your life and rush on through to others as well. He
has the ability to completely wash out the debris and clean our house--washing,
renewing, and refreshing. We should engage in the "Nestea Plunge" of the Holy
Spirit on a regular basis! You will find yourself saying, "Ahhhhh! Feels good!"
Revelation 22:1"
"And He showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding
from the throne of God and of the Lamb."
The words clean or pure are at the core of the Spirit's being. It is another way
of saying "holy." He is clean. When we welcome His washings, He will clean our
house. When this happens, we actually feel this freshness. Have you ever seen the
commercial where the lady is taking a deep sniff of the towel because it smells
so good after it has been washed?--that is what the Spirit does to us.
Don't you
want to smell good? I believe all who sincerely desire to please the Lord want
to have His fragrance upon their lives. Many times it is just a matter of "how
does this happen?" Let me tell you the key. The key is the Holy Spirit. Seek to
know, seek to experience, seek to drink of His life. Set apart time to just call
on His cleansing love. Lay your heart bare before Him. Declare your childlike
dependency upon Him. Settle for nothing less than Him touching you in that place
of prayer.
The good news is that He wants this even more than we do. Our
responsibility is to just find the place of yeildedness to the Holy Spirit
asking for His help. He is more than kind enough to help us. Just a little
warning--when He does clothe you with His fragrance, not everybody is going to
think you smell good! But you will smell different to them. Your Father will be
the One taking a big nostril whiff and will take deep pleasure in it.
John 14:16:
"And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may
abide with you."
The Real Deal
I found myself hungering for more of Him. God comes to us in waves. He knows how
to provoke us to desperation no matter what place we are in. The reason I named
this article "The Real Deal" is because this was a desperate cry that came to me
in prayer. God is so vast and has a never ending supply for us. We need deeper
and deeper experiences with Him.
Who can comprehend the depths of God? Who can
begin to understand Him? He comes to us in a language we can comprehend through
the Scriptures, but HE is truly beyond our comprehension. The natural mind
cannot begin to touch, know, and recognize Him! The only hope we have is
revelation within the depths of our spirit.
Our cry is for His Sprit to take us
higher still, so we can experience the REAL DEAL!
