and Mary Lou Doron: "THE DAY OF ATONEMENT--A FOUNTAIN SHALL BE OPENED"
From the desk of Steve Shultz:
This
year--today, there is a convergence of both Yom Kippur--the day of Atonement
(considered by many of the Jewish people to be the holiest day of the entire
year), as well as Ramadan for the Muslims.
This is a day of repentance and great vulnerability.
Let us join in prayer for the peace of Jerusalem, divine protection, and
agreement for the Kingdom of God to come, and His will to be done here on earth
in all people--as it is in Heaven.
Blessings,
Steve Shultz

THE
DAY OF ATONEMENT
Today is the Day of Atonement. On this 10th day of the seventh month of the
Hebrew year, as Israel observes the sixth Feast of the Lord, the Jewish nation
virtually shuts down. Bus and train services, radio and television broadcasts,
commerce activities and all other indications of modern civilization are closing
down as the solemn day of Yom Kippur descended upon the land.
Yom Kippur, Hebrew for "Day of Atonement," is a day of fasting, prayer, and
introspection in accordance with the commandment of the Lord in
Leviticus 16. And
while the Biblical sense of awe, God's judgment over sin, and blood atonement
are hidden from most of Israel today, this Feast remains a strong prophetic
indication of the national atonement prophesied in Zechariah
chapters 12 and
13.
"And I will pour out on the house of David and on the
inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of supplication, so that they
will look on Me whom they have pierced; and they will mourn for Him, as one
mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him, like the bitter
weeping over a first-born...In that day a fountain will be opened for the house
of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity."
Zechariah 12:10–13:1.
As the Lord continues to guide the events of the world and the destiny of
nations toward His end-time design, Israel is nearing her experience of a
massive Yom Kippur, as the Spirit of the Lord is preparing the stage to bring the
Jewish people progressively into conviction, revelation, repentance, and
regeneration in their Messiah. In spite of Israel's state today, one cannot
miss the deep longing and anticipation for a God who is yet hidden from their
eyes.
Listen to these words taken from the Jewish prayer book service for Yom
Kippur as these prayers are raised up by millions of Jewish hearts toward Heaven
in synagogues all over the world today:
JEWISH PRAYERS FOR YOM KIPPUR
"Our God and God of our fathers, pardon our iniquities on this Day of Atonement;
blot out our transgressions and our sins, and make them pass away from before thine eyes; as it is said,
"I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy
transgressions for mine own sake; and I will not remember thy sins."
"...Blessed art Thou, O Lord, Thou King who pardonest and forgivest our
iniquities and the iniquities of thy people, the house of Israel, who makest our
trespasses to pass away year by year, King over all the earth, who sanctifiest
the Sabbath and Israel and the day of Atonement."
"...We have trespassed, we have been faithless, we have robbed, we have spoken
basely, we have committed iniquity, we have wrought unrighteousness, we have
been presumptuous, we have done violence, we have forged lies, we have counseled
evil, we have spoken falsely, we have scoffed, we have revolted, we have
blasphemed, we have been rebellious, we have acted perversely, we have
transgressed, we have persecuted, we have been stiff-necked, we have done
wickedly, we have corrupted ourselves, we have committed abomination, we have
gone astray, and we have led astray."
"...Thou knowest the secrets of eternity and the most hidden mysteries of all
living. Thou searchest the innermost recesses, and triest the reins and the
heart. Nought is concealed from Thee, or hidden from thine eyes. May it then be
Thy will, O Lord our God and God of our fathers, to forgive us for all our sins,
to pardon us for all our iniquities, and to grant us remission for all our
transgressions."
"...For the sin which we have committed before Thee under compulsion, or of our
own will; And for the sin which we have committed before Thee in hardening of
the heart: For the sin which we have committed before Thee unknowingly; And for
the sin which we have committed before Thee with utterance of the lips: For the
sin which we have committed before Thee by unchastity; And for the sin which we
have committed before Thee openly and secretly: For the sin which we have
committed before Thee knowingly and deceitfully: And for the sin which we have
committed before Thee by the sinful meditating of the heart...,"
No doubt, ancient and veiled Israel can still teach those whose hearts are
willing to receive deep lessons of acknowledgement and confession of sins,
humility of heart, contrition, and faith toward God.
THE SUBSTANCE BEHIND THE SHADOW
While Israel still waits for the veil to be lifted and for God's full purpose,
revelation, and redemption to be realized among them, we who are born again in
the Messiah's Spirit, already know Him and His atoning sacrifice. Two sacrificial
goats were used on the Day of Atonement--one to shed its blood as an atoning
sacrifice, and the second as the scapegoat who carries the people's sins away
and suffers a terrible death in a dry and desolate place.
Our Savior fulfilled both roles, as the two goats speak of the two aspects of
Messiah's death. The blood of the first goat was brought into the Most Holy
Place and sprinkled upon the Mercy Seat, the Kaporet in the Hebrew, atop of the
Ark of the Covenant. The second goat was "cursed" with the people's sins and
sent out into a desolate place to die alone. One atoned for sin by its death as
it satisfied the righteousness of God. The second removed the burden of sin far
from the children of Israel through its banishment outside the camp.
"But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He
entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands,
that is to say, not of this creation; and not through the blood of goats and
calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all,
having obtained eternal redemption.
For if the blood of goats and bulls and the
ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled, sanctify for the
cleansing of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the
eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience
from dead works to serve the living God?" Hebrews 9:11-14
"For Christ did not enter a holy place made with hands, a mere copy of the true
one, but into Heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us; nor
was it that He should offer Himself often, as the high priest enters the holy
place year by year with blood not his own.
Otherwise, He would have needed to
suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation
of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself."
Hebrews 9:24-26.
May this Day of Atonement serve as a living reminder to all of our great and
eternal Salvation, and may it guide your prayers for Israel who still awaits her
own Yom Kippur.
Be blessed as you learn from this Feast.
In Messiah's love,
Reuven and Mary Lou Doron

"The Healing" Scarf (Red):
There are 2 elements: The wine, speaking of HIS BLOOD (which removes our sin);
and the bread speaking of HIS BODY (which has healed us emotionally and physically).
"The Song of Song" Scarf (Purple):
There are many interpretations of the Song of Songs. Some are calling this the "Bride" scarf. Often this verse is used at weddings and even engraved on wedding rings. Our ultimate joy will be when the Lord makes us His Bride! Let this be a reminder to draw closer to Him, and stay pure and holy so we will be ready.
The Celebration "Peace" Scarf (Royal Blue):
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem, they shall prosper that love thee," is not just a suggestion but a command from God's Word to all of us whether we are Jew or Gentile. This scarf was designed to Celebrate: Israel as a Nation, 50-plus
years in the land, and God's everlasting love and mercy to His chosen people.
(Isaiah 66:8, Jeremiah 31:3);
Gentile believers who are "grafted in" and have a love and commitment to Israel
and the Jews. (Romans 11:17-24, Isaiah 49:22);
and God's Word, and that it will not return unto Him void, as we "pray for the
peace of Jerusalem." (Isaiah 55:11, Psalm 122:6).
"The Light of the World" Scarf (White):
Yeshua said, " I am the Light of the World; he who follows Me shall never walk in darkness, but shall have the Light of Life."
(John 8:12) Yeshua also said to us, "You are the light of the world.
(Matthew 5:14) Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in
Heaven." (Matthew 5:16) As disciples of Yeshua, we are now the Royal Priesthood.
(I Peter 2:4 & 9) Just as the Levitical Priests were required to care for the menorah or lamp stand in the temple, we must follow the same directions for our "lamps," in our "temple". Daily we must trim all the sin from our lives,
(Psalm 51) renewing our minds and hearts through the washing of water by the Word.
