17-YEAR OLD PASTOR'S SON GUNNED DOWN AT SCHOOL BY 14-YEAR OLD -- 8 DAYS AFTER COLUMBINE, COLORADO SHOOTING. --His Father, Pastor Dale Lang speaks to the nation --AS IT WAS PROPHESIED THAT HE WOULD!!
PLEASE READ THIS FIRST!
Note from Steve Shultz, Publisher, THE ELIJAH LIST
Because the Columbine shooting has taken center stage, another school shooting only eight days later (April 28, 1999) in Taber, Alberta, Canada- in which 17-year-old pastor's son, Jason Lang was gunned down by a 14-year old former student---has been under-reported in the United States.
Amazingly, just a month ago, James and Kathy Berkley, The Elijah Commission, (who are senior Ministers of Judah Praise Center in Marysville, WA and part of International Apostolic Ministries) ministered in Pastor Dale Lang's church and prophesied this over Pastor Lang:
. . . "the nations youth are waiting to hear from you".
It did not mean much to him at that time. Monday, Pastor Dale (who has already spoken on Canada's national media) will speak to the entire student body and to the nation as well as at the memorial service for his son.
The nations flags are all at half mast. The CBC has asked Pastor Lang to "come back on TV and just tell us (Canada) what we should do now!"
Please read this following CNN Article about the shooting and then Jim Berkeley's letter from Pastor Lang's home below that for the whole story. What the enemy meant for evil, the Lord is using for great good, both in the United States, and now--just as profoundly in Canada!! --Steve Shultz, Publisher, THE ELIJAH LIST

TABER, Alberta (CNN) -- A 14-year-old former student was charged Thursday with first-degree murder and attempted murder, a day after he allegedly marched into a high school in southern Alberta and shot two students, killing one and seriously wounding the other.
The boy, who was not identified because he is a juvenile, fired four shots from a .22-caliber rifle at W.R. Myers high school on Wednesday, police said, killing 17-year-old Jason Lang. Lang's friend, Shane Christmas, also 17, was listed in fair to serious condition Thursday at a hospital after surgery.
The shooting came just eight days after an attack on a Colorado high school left 14 students and one teacher dead, and it sent shock waves through the small farming community of Taber, about 110 miles (175 km) southeast of Calgary, Alberta.
Police refused to speculate whether Wednesday's shooting -- reported to be the first fatal Canadian high school shooting in 20 years -- was influenced by the Colorado attack. They said they were conducting a thorough investigation and could not release full details until their probe was complete.
Many of the 400 students at the school scattered and others hid behind desks when the gunfire erupted moments after lunch hour on Wednesday.
"He was shot point-blank," Greg Tomcala, 14, said he watched in horror as a boy aimed a rifle at a student sitting against a locker doing schoolwork.
"I looked down the hall and I saw him shoot one kid," Tomcala said. "He was shot point-blank in the chest. He fell to the ground and then crawled away."
The bespectacled boy with the rifle then shot another student, who hobbled down the hallway.
The suspect was arrested by Const. Dennis Reimer, the school resource officer, who is also a member of the Taber Police Service.
Myers principal Don Gellatly said the school has been "inundated" with condolences and offers of help.
Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien said he was "shocked and deeply saddened" by the tragedy.
"The loss of a young life is always difficult to accept. But the senselessness of this act of violence makes it even more painful and all the more difficult to accept and comprehend," Chretien said in a statement.
Victim's father: "Things have to change"
Lang's father, the Rev. Dale Lang, called for reconciliation.
"May God have mercy on this broken society and all the hurting people in it," he said at a news conference Thursday. "We pray that people will see by this incident that lots of things have to change in our society. Lots of things need to be healed."
Students said the suspect was unpopular and said he had left Myers and started home schooling because he didn't like the teachers or the school's curriculum.
Student Carl Jarvis, who said he has known the suspect for four years, described him as an avid television watcher and computer buff.
"Nobody really had anything against him, he was just sort of there. He just did his own thing a lot of the time," Jarvis said, adding that he didn't seem like a person "who would be influenced by TV or video games."

MESSAGE FROM James and Kathy Berkley
From the home of Canadian Pastor Dale Lang Father of 17-Year Old JASON LANG who was gunned down by a 14-year old former student 8 days after the Columbine shooting in Colorado
Friday April 30, 1999
Dear Friends of the Berkleys,
I'm writing this to you from Pastor Lang's Home in Taber, Alberta, Canadian. As many of you know, Jason Lang, the son of Pastor Dale and his wife, Diane Lang; was shot to death in the hallway of his high school on Wed. April 28th, at 1:09 PM. Dale and Diane are the Pastors of the Anglican Church that I ministered in at Taber about a month ago. Taber is a small town southeast of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Jason, the boy that was killed, is a Christian and is now with the Lord in heaven!
When I heard the news that Jason Lang had been killed I felt strongly that I should go to Canada to comfort and minister to the Lang Family. I called Pastor Lang and told him that I believe the Lord wanted me to be with him at this time. He agreed. Then I prophesied to Him saying, "The Devil has meant this for evil; but God will turn it around for Good!" I continued...
"Your son's blood was spilled unjustly and it is now crying out from the ground and it must be answered with a harvest of souls!" Also...
"Jason glorified God while living here with us in his body; but now he will glorify the Lord a thousands of times over in the hour of his death!"
Pastor Dale took great comfort in this and encouraged me to come as soon as possible.
After the phone call to Pastor Dale, I left my hotel room to speak at the conference that I am a guest speaker at in Spokane, WA. This is the Passion for Jesus Conference with Wayne Anderson, Steve Hampton and myself. After ministering the Word at the morning session Wayne came up and prophesied two things:
1. Because of this tragedy in Canada, God had opened an effective door to me for the preaching of the gospel in Canada.
2. I was to go to be with the Lang family and the church here in Taber. He said , "to confirm it, we would see all the finances come in needed to fly me in to Canada."
It happened just as he said! I was on a flight out of Spokane at 5am the next morning.
Arriving at 10AM this morning at the Calgary airport, I saw Pastor Lang's face and testimony all over the front page of every newspaper in Canada! I picked up a rental car to drive the three hours Southeast to Taber. The radio talk shows were all filled with heart searching discussions about this whole thing. Everywhere I went I asked people what they thought of what has happened in Taber. They all without exception, stopped what they were doing, many with tears in their eyes said the same thing, We don't know why this happened and we don't know what to do.
Pastor Dale was on CBC (a Canadian national TV Network) yesterday morning to issue his statement. Here is what was said and what the news media printed and broadcast all over Canada:
"A piece of your heart is gone and it can't come back. But we give thanks for having Jason for 17 years. We give thanks for all our children. And we pray that people will see by this incident that lots of things have to change in our society. Lots of things need to be healed. Thank you." -Rev. Dale Lang
The nations flags are all at half mast. The CBC has asked Pastor Lang to "come back on TV and just tell us (Canada) what we should do now!" Hallelujah! " God is opening the hearts of an entire nation. When I was here last I prophesied to Pastor Lang that, "the nations youth were waiting to hear from you". It did not mean much to him at that time. Monday, Pastor Dale will speak to the entire student body and to the nation as well at the memorial service!
Because the shooting took place there at the W.R. Myers High School, the student body are traumatized so that many do not want to go back into the school. Pastor Dale said, "I want to have the memorial service at the high school gymnasium. When I'm done, I want to lead a procession down into the hallway where my son and his friend fell. I want to pray right there! We must take it back! We must reclaim the school for the students!" AMEN!
It seems that the Lord has used this to reopen the hearts and conscience of this entire nation!
We have heard that the Prime minister of Canada and the Premier of Alberta are making plans to attend the memorial service. Even the Mormons have brought food and offered their building for the memorial. School boards and local clubs like the Kiwanis etc. are all contributing to help with food and expenses.
A young man called today and said to the family that he was an atheist until he heard their story, now he is a believer in Christ! Hallelujah!
A woman in British Columbia called and said when she couldn't stop looking at Jason's picture in the paper. She said it is so filled with peace. Then she asked, "Is this the one who will save us?" Diane said, "No, what you see is the peace of Jesus Christ in Jason's eyes. He will save us!" Then she prayed with her and led her to the Lord!
A TV station in B.C. cancelled a violent program announcing to the viewers that they were doing this in honor of Jason.
People have been calling from all over the world to say they are praying for them! It is amazing how God is using this!
Pastor Dale said that he feels as though his whole life's purpose is unfolding before at this, his weakest moment. He said, "It's so strange that in the middle of all this grief there is such peace and joy mixed with moments of incredible mourning and pain. "When we are weak, He is strong!" Hallelujah!
Pastor Dale and the Pastor Ian Byrd of New Life Church, a Charismatic church in the same city have just launched weekly joint revival meetings (largely as a result of our ministry in Taber). I believe the Devil thought he could kill the revival through this. Just like he did with killing Jesus. It not only didn't work, it caused the thing to go worldwide!
1. Please pray for me as I am about to go to the Lang home to minister to the whole extended Lang family. Some of them are not saved. Pray for Pastor Lang's father and mother. They are not saved.
2. Please pray for pastor Lang as he continues to address the media every few hours.
3. Pray that the door of opportunity will open wide and stay open for the effective preaching of the gospel!
4. Pray believing that God will turn the hearts of the children to the fathers and the hearts of the fathers to their young. And that the heart of this nation will turn back to God in great revival and harvest of souls! Jason's blood cries out from the ground! It must be answered with souls! Thank you all for praying!
