and Mary Lou Doron: "THE SOUND OF THE TRUMPET--A WAKE UP CALL"
 "Speak
to the sons of Israel, saying, 'In the seventh month on the first of the month,
you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.
You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire
to the LORD.'" Leviticus 23:24-25.
These coming weeks will usher in the Fall Feasts of the Lord. The Feasts of
Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles are stacked closely together
over a span of 21 days pointing to the prophetic drama unfolding at the end of
this age. They culminate in the final Feast, Tabernacles, and they usher in the
next Hebraic Year, 5767, counting from the creation of the world.
This coming year will no doubt bring more clashing of swords, international
turmoil, and purging. Let the word of the Lord be our prayer, "...so teach us to
number our days, that we may present to Thee a heart of wisdom." Psalm 90:12.
SALVATION HISTORY PROPHESIED
The seven Biblical Feasts are grouped in three different seasons as they
forecast our salvation history. The spring feasts, Passover, Unleavened Bread,
and First Fruits announce the Lamb of God, His suffering, death, and
resurrection. Fifty days later, follows Pentecost, signifying the outpouring of
the Spirit, the birthing of the Church, and the beginning of the summer harvest
according to the natural agricultural cycles of the Middle East. Lastly, the
Feasts of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and Tabernacles, during the fall of the
year, point to the end of this age of grace. They speak prophetically of the
promised birth pains, the shakings and the coming of the Kingdom of God!
This year, the Feast of Trumpets, the 5th of the seven feasts, falls on September
22. The first four feasts were historically fulfilled through the Lord's first
coming, and it is our expectation that the final three feasts will be fulfilled
with His return to earth in His glory. Trumpets, Atonement, and Tabernacles are
meant to prepare us for the end of the age. From the blowing of the trumpets to
the final celebration, the Holy Spirit indicates the recurring cycles of alarm,
repentance, and victory that increasingly characterize our times.
WHAT IS TRUMPETS ALL ABOUT?
The blowing of the trumpets is the sounding of an alarm. It's not unlike the
eerie sound of a siren cutting through the still air with its startling and
disturbing wail. Whether a call to arms or a solemn assembly, when the ancient
Israelites heard the trumpet blast--they came to attention! In the same way, the
Feast of Trumpets is not meant to comfort nor console us, rather it is a wake-up
call; a strong elbow in our ribs designed to wake us up and jolt us to action.
As we move deeper into these times, we will witness more disturbing trumpet
blasts and troubling wake-up calls, whether they are natural disasters, wars, or
civil disintegration. What will seem to some a disaster, will be a life saving
alarm for others. Let's pray that we, may be as the wise virgins who were prepared at the sudden coming of the Bride Groom!
Ten days following Trumpets, comes the Day of Atonement, foreseeing Israel's
future national conviction, repentance, and redemption (Zechariah 12). These
progressive events will not come easily, and much prayer and travail are needed
to usher this "baby" through the final stages of the historic birth canal. Five
days after the Day of Atonement, comes the Feast of Tabernacles. This feast
points to the final and greatest celebration of this age when God will abide in
the
tabernacle among His people at the final harvest. Watch and pray.
"And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, 'Behold, the tabernacle of
God is among men, and He shall dwell among them, and they shall be His people,
and God Himself shall be among them, and He shall wipe away every tear from
their eyes; and there shall no longer be any death; there shall no longer be any
mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away.'" Revelation
21:3-4.
PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM
To those of you who watch in prayer over God's purposes for Israel, remain
vigilant and diligent in prayer. Let's not be complacent with the present relative "calm," for the next round is not far.
Pray to God to pour out His Spirit, keep and help His ancient people, and lead
them to the appointed and promised encounter with their Savior. Pray they hear
the trumpets!
"O Israel, hope in the LORD; for with the LORD there is loving-kindness, and
with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel from all his
iniquities." Psalm 130:7-8. Pray they hear the trumpets!
As these cycles of danger, battle, and sacrifice continue, let's pray for eyes
to be opened, hearts softened, and for workers to be sent into both Jewish and
Arab harvest fields. We believe that the key to peace is Israel's ultimate
repentance, deliverance, and salvation.
The enemy, who knows that Israel's salvation is intimately linked to the final
harvest and the coming of the Lord in His glorious Kingdom, will keep working to
nullify God's purposes. Surely he will fail, but while the battles rage, we are
commanded to pray for the peace of Jerusalem!
"Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: 'May they prosper who love you. May peace be
within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces.' For the sake of my
brothers and my friends, I will now say, 'May peace be within you.' For the sake
of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good." Psalm 122:6-9
SUBTERRANEAN PLOTS
Last week, Israeli soldiers uncovered a massive multi-level Hezbollah
command-center bunker dug deep in southern Lebanon. It was estimated to be more
than one-square mile, all underground, fully equipped with ammunition,
communications, and storage.
There are other "subterranean plots" that are coming to light that, through
prayer, the Church can impact. This recent conflict has the potential to lead to
a re-alignment of nations in the Middle East and around the globe as it has
flushed out and exposed uncomfortable truths. Pray for the leaders of the free
world and the nations that are alive unto God, to hear the trumpets call.
And don't forget Lebanon. Most Lebanese are not sympathetic to Hezbollah, but are
rather held hostage through fear and manipulation, as many
Arabs are, with a deep resentment for Israel's presence in the Middle East. Should
the Lebanese people choose, they could, through courage and resolve, regain
control of their country. Pray for Lebanon's leadership and population, and for
the many Arab Christians in that divided nation. Lebanon needs the real God;
pray they hear the trumpets. WE ARE
HIS WORKMANSHIP AND HE, OUR PEACE
"For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God
prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Therefore remember, that
formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called 'Uncircumcision' by the
so-called 'Circumcision,'...remember that you were at that time separate from
Christ, excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants
of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by
the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one,
and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the
enmity...that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus
establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the
cross..." Ephesians 2:10-16
We pray that you may prosper even as your soul prospers in the Messiah's perfect
work of redemption. Blessed Feast of Trumpets to you.
