The Holy Spirit, speaking thru the Apostle Paul, says," By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay, or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work." (I Co 3:10-13)

THE GREAT LAKES REVIVAL

For a handful of weeks, the Lord has been laying things on my heart that are related to the coming Revival (incidentally, tonight in prayer I understood the Spirit to refer to the revival in this area as the "Great Lakes Revival"). He showed these things to me one segment at a time, and I only recently saw them come together into something that made sense, and so now I share with you what the Lord gave me.

There is only one Foundation, Jesus Christ. As we have gone about building our lives on this foundation, we have not always used precious, costly stones, but have many times used relatively worthless things like hay or straw in the construction of our spiritual "house". As the Lord prepares us so that we can be useful in His hands, He is about to begin a FRESH work in us. There are four primary components to this work, and the first will be a

1) FRESH HUNGER.

The Spirit is about to pour into our hearts a hunger for the PERSON of Jesus that this generation has never seen. It will be a beautiful, sweet paradox for Jesus to be simultaneously the "Bread of Life" that fully satisfies, yet leaving the worshipper ravenous for more of His Presence, more time alone with Him, more of His Life, just more of Him. As His people develop this insatiable hunger for Jesus, it will drive them to come to the Father in a

2) FRESH SURRENDER.

God's people will desire Him so greatly that there will no price too high, no sacrifice too costly, if only they might know more of Him. They will know more than they ever have what Jesus meant by, "Whoever loses his life for Me will find it." So great will be their desire for Him, that they will bring to the Father their entire being, body, soul, spirit, plans, dreams, hopes, desires, fears; they will surrender ALL of themselves to Him, knowing that he is trustworthy and faithful, and will completely surrender their will to His. As the Father sees this complete sacrifice of self, this complete yielding of the will, He sees a vessel that can now be used for honorable purposes. He then will move to bring the worshipper a

3) FRESH ANOINTING.

When God chose a Prophet, Priest or King, He had them be anointed with oil, signifying that they were chosen for a specific work, and that He was equipping them for their unique calling. Likewise, in this season, each yielded vessel will be equipped to move powerfully in the calling that the Lord has for them. (At the expense of sounding trite or cliche', it bears repeating that God does not call the equipped, He EQUIPS the CALLED). As each one begins to move out in faith in their calling and equipping, there will be in their lives a

4) FRESH FIRE.

Just as fire is the VISIBLE manifestation of an INVISIBLE chemical reaction, there will be VISIBLE EVIDENCE of the INVISIBLE Holy Spirit's presence in the lives of the anointed. The Fruit of the Spirit will be marvelously displayed, their spiritual gifts will be powerfully in operation, and God will be glorified in the lives of His people. A WARNING HERE: it at this point that the Enemy Satan will try his best to derail the work that God wants to do in His servants' lives. He will try to (very subtly) draw the anointed into spiritual pride, trying to convince them that because God's power is displayed in them, that this must mean that they are more special than others, more spiritual than others, etc. A similar situation is addressed in Paul's first letter to Corinth, where spiritual pride was obviously becoming a problem. The solution was a correct understanding of what God wanted accomplished through the Spirit's working: (I Co 12:7,11) "To each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good....All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and He gives them to each one, just as He determines" (italics mine). For those who resist the Enemy's drawing toward spiritual pride, this FIRE will also become in them a refining fire, burning away all the dross in their hearts, everything that is not conformed to the image of Jesus. As the hearts of God's people become purified, and the intentions and motives become more Christlike, the child of God will be lead back to a

1) FRESH HUNGER, and the cycle will be able to repeat.

The Lord showed me that these four principles will not always happen in a consecutive order, but will nonetheless be related to each other. The picture is that of a four-spoked wheel: at any given time, there is one spoke that is supporting most of the weight of the axle, yet all the spokes are in use simultaneously.

Again, we are all heading into a wonderful season of God pouring out His Spirit on His people. Please continue to pray for a covering for the Great Lakes Revival, for the prayer warriors to be released into their calling, and for the fresh hunger to begin to fall anew on God's children.
