A VISION OF ONENESS

Note from Steve Shultz, Publisher, THE ELIJAH LIST

Women sometimes have an advantage over most of us men in their visions of intimacy with Jesus, through things such as dance. It's hard for us to get a hold of that (as men) many times. Nevertheless, we are ALL made in the image of God and the Lord leaves with us the "Song of Solomon" to depict just this intimacy with the Son. In this vision (below) we see that the work of unity is the LORD's work and totally unique from what we can plan and initiate on our own. Sometimes, to obtain this unity, we need to pray, "Lord, would you bring the John 17 Unity TO US and THROUGH US . . .because we have been unable to make it happen ourselves."

A VISION OF ONENESS

The Lord recently showed me the true meaning of Oneness in the Spirit in a unique way.

I saw myself dancing in the arms of the Lord Jesus across the great expanse of heaven's dance floor. His strong right arm supported me, holding me deliriously close. All I wanted to do was gaze up into His face in absolute wonder and desire. He looked down at me in sheer delight. Imagine! The King of kings delighted at being my dance partner!

As we danced, gliding effortlessly across great expanses of sky, I could sense a great multitude of people watching the dance. I never turned from looking at His face; I was too lovesick to look any place else. But I was aware of this great sea of onlookers. I thought, How odd that they re not trying to cut in so they can dance with the Lord. I somehow knew that there was no envy in them, and that made me very curious, as I imagined I would be extremely envious if someone else was dancing with the Lord and I could only watch.

A ONENESS IN THE SPIRIT UNLIKE WHAT WE TRY TO DO

Without me asking, and without Him saying a word, I understood. There is a Oneness in the Spirit that is unlike the unity we try to perpetuate on Earth. It doesn't come from trying to be one, or from setting ourselves up in agreement with each other. In the Spirit, we ARE one. When one of us dances with the Lord, each of us dances with Him. And so, those who watched could celebrate in the Dance even though I was the one in His arms. It is the Oneness of John 17.

Immediately, I saw my 17-year-old, special needs daughter in His arms. Their dance was different from mine. He held her with both His arms, and moved in very tiny steps, almost just rocking instead of gliding. My daughter rested her head on His shoulder, and He gently placed His lips on the top of her head. My poor, fragile, anxious little girl, who every day must battle a life that brings her greater challenges that we normal people can appreciate, was at peace in His arms. Unlike her troubled little life, she could experience absolute safety, total security. Oh, how gentle He was.

"WE ARE ALL MEMBERS OF ONE ANOTHER"

Now it was my turn to be one with her. I could feel her peace. I could experience it as my own. It was the Oneness of the crowd when they watched me dance. For just a moment, I became my daughter--not losing my own identity, and not invading hers; but being there in His arms with her. It was more awesome than anything I have ever experienced.

May we each come to experience the Oneness of John 17 as it exists in the Spirit.
