I had an interesting experience this morning----one that's kind of common with me. God loves to set up special situations for me--so that He can speak what's "on His Mind." You know what I mean. A great many of you have the same thing happen to you on a pretty regular basis.

I "had" to take a walk for a break (which I don't normally take) and I walked downtown looking for a bench to sit on and just sit in the sun. I ended up at the post office--which is where I found the first bench that was in the sun. I sat down on this "park" bench outside the entrance--one of only two benches. It was on a corner of the building where the building bent out away from me. I sat there and looked up at the wall next to me.

A SIGN IN BRASS

There was a brass plaque on the building that said something like:

"This Post Office was put into service in 1963---John F. Kennedy, President."

Then my eyes went down, just below the plaque----- there was a newspaper machine/stand and the headline on the paper inside the "stand" said that Kennedy has been found and removed from the sea and that burial/memorial services are planned (Yesterday's paper).

I couldn't help but believe that I was seeing something beyond ironic-- JFK SR.--The father's famous name-associated with tragedy. Then his son's death being "advertised" just below his father's name--

The Lord this week has clearly been highlighting the past and the present related to John F. Kennedy (Sr.), the moon landings (JFK's legacy), his son, JFK, Jr., Jr's accomplishments, his life, and now his death.

FATHER AND SON--CUT DOWN TOO EARLY

I felt the sadness of the assassination and now, the sadness of the son's untimely death,---father and son cut down at far too early an age (as well as his wife and sister-in-law).

We live in a world full of sin where the sins and judgments of the fathers are often seen later in the son(s). Sin passes down---in this case--at the very least, an untimely death--planned by the enemy---seems to have been "passed down" from father JFK to son JFK.

Unless we pray and intercede, the enemy has such "pass down" curses for us, and our families based on our own fathers and mother's sins. This is more than genetics---more than the doctor asking if your father had heart trouble, the way you now do. There is strategy from the enemy and he loves to repeat his evil, generation after generation on a family.

THE CURSE OF THE LAW IS DEATH

We need to pray that the Lord will redeem us from the curse of the "law"--which is a curse of death against all who are not totally obedient to all that is written in the law (which of course NONE of us are --or ever will be.) This is why the Cross was necessary--to redeem us from the curse of the law. The curse is DEATH.

With the Cross----this is the era of grace-but we must hang on to the 'horns of the altar' and claim protection from the Lord Jesus--for HE is our sacrifice--but we must hold on to HIM in order to avoid the "pass-down" authority that Satan often attempts to exert.

WILL WE FAIRE BETTER THAN OUR FATHERS?

I'm convicted this day---that we must pray for the Lord's protection for ourselves, our children, our spouses, our families , and our country. The Lord is giving a message that our generation will faire no better than the previous generation did in "life"--- unless we seek HIS FACE and not our own agenda--as perhaps our natural or spiritual fathers did.

Let's pray for our generation that we will walk by the Spirit and not in the ways of our fathers, who also sinned before God. This is the calling on our lives---- We need to forgive our fathers--- but ask for something better---much better. Something more---much more.

WE MUST FIND OUT WHO OUR FATHER'S WERE

The news reported that recently John F Kennedy Jr. toured the White House--with President Clinton---- and JFK, Jr. was asking all about his father--and wanting to deal with who his father was in this "White House." A Kennedy family friend reported that John Jr. was asking not that long ago to know all about his father--what kind of man he was.

We need to look at our fathers, natural and spiritual,---asking what kind of man/men they were, forgive them for their mistakes, and then ask the Lord for something more--for something better.

We need to ask the Lord to cancel out the plans of the enemy against our families and we need to ask to "live long on the land that the Lord your God has given you." And we need to ask for not just longer life--but MORE LIFE!

LONGER LIFE --- "MORE" LIFE

May we learn from the mistakes of our earthly and spiritual fathers--and may we not suffer the judgment that they (our natural and our spiritual fathers) have entered into---but move into more and longer and more productive "life"---than what we have learned and seen in our "fathers."

Ps 91:14-16 14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. 15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."

There was a word on the ELIJAH LIST--that the Lord had perhaps chosen George Bush Jr. to be the next president. This was a word by Bob Jones. (http://www.bobjones.org) Perhaps here is a son who has sought the Lord and said, "Let me not walk in the ways of my father, but serve you with all my might, Lord."--and perhaps God is answering that prayer.

ASK FOR A DOUBLE PORTION

Even if our Spiritual or natural fathers were Godly, may we ask for more yet--a double portion of God's blessing, if you will--the same way that Elisha asked for a double portion of Elijah's anointing. Elijah was no doubt as a spiritual father to Elisha. But God was pleased that Elisha asked for more---we know this, because the Lord gave him a double portion--as he asked.

More Lord. More than our fathers. A double portion Lord!!
