2006
is going to be very different. It is going to be
a good year--a blessed year, but a very, very different
year than most Christians would expect! It will not be a
year about the Christian, but a year about the Christ. It
will not be a year about me, mine, and us. It will be
a year about Him, Him, and Him! "This is My year," says
the Lord. 2006 will be all about Me!"
2006: The Year Of Our Lord--Literally!
Each January, prophets everywhere "seek the Lord" to see
what He has to say prophetically for the upcoming twelve
months. Typically, these prophetic words are full of personal
promises, benefits, and blessings for us--legitimate divine
favors that our gracious heavenly Father gives to His children.
And there's certainly nothing wrong with this, for our God
is a gracious God to be sure, and He does, on a regular
basis, profoundly bless His children here on earth. So,
will there be blessings for us in 2006?
Absolutely!
Yet, God is going to dramatically shift the emphasis away
from us and back onto Himself. This year will be the "year
of our Lord" in a very literal way. The words of Isaiah
will ring strong and true throughout churches all across
this nation: "I (we) will see the Lord (once again) sitting
upon a throne (very) high and (very) lifted up, and His
train (His glory and splendor) will (dramatically) fill
the temple."
For
2006: Much More Than A Heavenly Butler
Indeed, God will continue to bless His children (worldwide)
just because He is a very, very good God. However, we must
be reminded that God is much more than just a heavenly butler.
He is the Great and Awesome Sovereign God of the Universe,
and we must once again begin to do His bidding. His wish
must become our command!
The World (Without Christ) Has Had It All Wrong
For 2006, God is going to reassert Himself--that is, who
He really is--upon the church and the world. In the process,
the church will once again realize He is not what the world
has made Him out to be. Not at all!
The non-Christian world has invented a God that the Bible
knows nothing about. They know a God that makes no demands,
a God who requires nothing of them, a God who is there to
help them when they need help, a God to be a companion when
they are lonely, a God to be used in case of an emergency,
and a God who they expect to be on duty for them 24 hours
a day, seven days a week and then discarded much of the
rest of the time.
To the world,
everything has become discretionary because they no longer
serve the God of the Bible.
All this will
drastically change in 2006.
First,
the Church will be awakened in the first six months of 2006.
Then, the world will be warned in the second six months.
The Sovereign God of the Bible is going to make a strong
comeback in 2006!
"I see both awakening and warning for 2006--awakening
for the church and warning for the world."
Selfish
vs. Selfless
You see, the Lord did not speak to me about what He is going
to do for you. Instead, He spoke to me about what you are
going to do for Him! And here's the really good news:
you're going to do more for Him in 2006 than in any previous
year! You are going to abound with good works,
out produce the unbelievers around you, and glorify
God in ways you could never have imagined. You are about
to become a spiritual "workaholic," all for the glory of
God. 2006 will be your best, high-yield year ever! As a
result, your joy will be full!
But be encouraged and be warned: God is going to make Himself
available with fresh power, fresh gifting, fresh authority,
and fresh grace for the selfless, but He will be clearly
unavailable for the selfish! Watch and see. The selfless
will significantly out produce the selfish in 2006. Borrowing
from the famous words of John F. Kennedy with some literary
license:
" Ask not what the Lord can do for you, but ask what
you can do for the Lord."
This year is going to be all about Him, and all for Him,
and all because of Him. 2006 is going to be all about His
glory, His honor, His majesty, His splendor, His presence,
His will, and His power! With this theme in mind, the Lord
has spoken to me from two outstanding verses from the Bible
for you in 2006. Here's the first one:
"For He has shown you, oh man,
what is good; and what does the Lord require of you,
but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly
with your God." --Micah 6:8
"The
Lord has every right to require much of you, through you,
and from you for 2006. And that's exactly what He's going
to do!"
So, exactly what is the Lord going to require of you for
2006? I think I have part of the answer for you. The Lord
is going to require new levels of excellence in everything
that you do for Him. I believe the Lord is taking us all
to the next level, not in what He will do for us, but in
what we will do for Him. 2006 will be the year in which
all we do for God will be done excellently or not done at
all. I hear the Lord saying to you for 2006:
"Excellence,
excellence, excellence in everything you do for Me. Do it
excellently!"
Be
Immovable And Abounding
Then, just recently, I awoke with the second verse running
through my mind. Specifically, two words kept coming to
me: immovable and abounding. I believe this
ties in with the demand of excellence which God is going
to require of us all. I looked up the verse where these
two words appear. Here is the second great verse:
"Therefore, my beloved brethen,
be firm, steadfast, immovable, always abounding
in the work of the Lord, [that is, always producing
superior results, excelling and doing much more than
enough in the service of the Lord], knowing and being
continually aware that your kingdom labor, efforts,
plans and purposes are not going to be futile [it is
not wasted or to no purpose]."
--I Corinthians 15:58
"For
2006, you will need to literally become 'immovable and abounding!'"
So, what's all this mean to you? According to I Corinthians
15:58, for 2006, you will need to become:
Spiritually Steadfast: extremely faithful, highly
determined, spiritually stubborn, obedient to the maximum,
unwavering in your new devotion to God, being of an excellent
spirit--setting new standards for you and for those around
you.
Spiritually Immovable: highly fixed in purpose, constant
and extremely focused, relentless, determined, ironclad
in your pursuit of His will, being of an excellent spirit--setting
new standards for you and for those around you.
Spiritually Abounding: exuberant, passionate, extravagant,
radical, life-giving, over-producing, exceeding all prior
results, overflowing in accomplishments, being of an excellent
spirit--setting new standards for you and for those around
you.
Spiritually Laboring: applying 100% spiritual, mental,
and physical effort: giving "it" your all, being of an excellent
spirit--setting new standards for you and for those around
you.
"As long as it is day, we
must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming,
when no man can work." -- John 9:4
Mark my words
saints: 2006 will be a year of great accomplishments for
spiritual opportunists worldwide. Make sure you become just
such an opportunist. Make sure you become immovable and
do all you can do to abound! Make sure you strive to "do
much more than just enough." Why? The night is coming!
Remember, as I Corinthians 15:58 tells us,
"Your work in the Lord is never in vain."
Hope this helps,
