the last few months, we have currently witnessed, largely through the
Elijah List distribution of the Jewish Calendars, perhaps the greatest
hunger and longing to embrace the Biblical/Jewish calendar by the
Christian world in over 1,700 years. (This isn't a business deal--it's a
spiritual breakthrough, an explosion of interest with prophetic implications.) |

What's Happening?
A few days ago, the dates of Christmas and Hanukkah coincided. Also, the yearly
solar change on December 31 will mesh with the change in the lunar monthly time
cycle (New Moon/"Rosh Chodesh"), the basis of the Biblical calendar.
There is a set time to shift gears, and that is when both are brought to the
same speed of rotation. The Spirit of the LORD is saying, "Synchronize and shift
NOW!" Thundering like a trumpet from the throne, the word echoed
over and over again, "Synchronize!" Webster's tells us that word means "syn"
means together and "chronos" means time.
A Coming Together
What makes the Biblical/Jewish calendar from Elijah List so different is not
only that it marks and briefly explains the major Biblical "feasts of the LORD,"
Shabbats, and New Moons, but that it is a voice in the wilderness, calling His
Bride back into alignment with the God-given, Biblical lunar (moon)--based
calendar. It's no longer separated, but synchronized. Basically, it is
superimposed like a transparency, upon the familiar man-made solar calendar of
today. Each page is a prophetic invitation, an awakening to our grafted-in
inheritance as one new man in Christ, the Messiah.
Times And Seasons
God, the Creator, set the earth rotating daily on its axis, the moon revolving
monthly around the earth, and those two moving together in a yearly orbit around
the sun. The times and seasons of God's Redemption story are beautifully
established upon a unique blend of all those cycles and then recorded Biblically
throughout the history of the people of Israel. The marking of time--months and
years--started the Lamb's Bridal procession in Exodus 12:2-3 and
continued on God's appointed schedule throughout Biblical history, including
Christ's death, resurrection, and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. And it is
moving forward toward the marriage supper of the Lamb.
Looking Back…
The gospel went from Jerusalem, spreading rapidly into the non-Jewish, pagan
regions of the world. However, the Nicean Creed in the early AD 300's, it
records a largely overlooked decision to "separate ourselves from the
detestable company of the Jews because the Lord has shown us a better way."
Unfortunately, that justified
disassociating as much of Christianity from Jewish Worship as possible and
specifically anything connected with the Biblical/Jewish/lunar calendar with its
designated days of celebration. So, man decided that time is now regulated only
by the sun. This is strange in light of creation facts in Genesis 1:14
and Psalm 104:19, but especially in light of Jeremiah 31: 31-37,
God's new covenant promise to Israel (of which the Gentiles are included by
grace and mercy) forever confirms Israel's existence as a nation and connects
His commitment to Her for as long as the moon and stars remain in their ordered
cycles!
So, Now What?
Synchronize (means together, time) and join in an appointed time this December
31 to shift the gears of church history forward into agreement with God's
ancient order and ways, readied to partner together in preparing the way for our
Bridegroom/King's return!
Join us from wherever you are, as a company of worshippers (followers of the
Lamb) and gathers at midnight with our lamps burning with oil on the Mount of
Olives and other places throughout the land of Israel, blowing silver trumpets
and shofars (ram's horns) and lifting a mighty shout in united anticipation of
the return of the King of Glory. Let's also celebrate this turning of the
Christian world to purposely reconnect with the Biblically established times and
seasons of God's Redemption story. . . "until HE comes!"

Don Finto was Senior Pastor
of Belmont Church in Nashville, Tennessee, for over 25 years. He is
married to Martha Ann (Graves) Finto. They have three children and seven
grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Don received his formal
education from Abilene Christian University, University of Hamburg, Germany
(while serving for eight years there with the Churches of Christ), Harding
Graduate School in Memphis, Tennessee (MA) and Vanderbilt University
(Ph.D.). From 1963 to 1971 he was a faculty member of David Lipscomb
University.
Since the late 60's when Don had a life changing spiritual experience, he
has been in the front line of renewal within the body of Christ. In the
early 70's Belmont was one of the churches in Nashville that actively
related to the "Jesus Movement" and those who were coming to the Lord
through that Holy Spirit outpouring and to the music being birthed in that
awakening. Don is a passionate advocate for godly unity in the body of the
Lord across all denominational, racial and other lines. He served as
co-chair of the Pastors' Committee in the June 2000 Billy Graham meetings in
Nashville and continues to be involved in efforts to unite the body of the
Lord in his home city. In 1992 Don led the Belmont Church to become a
"cell-based" church, believing this
would be the best way to pastor a large church for the coming revival.
After handing over the leadership of the church to Stephen Mansfield in
January of 1997, Don has been active primarily in two areas: 1) pastoring
pastors, and 2) supporting the rapidly emerging Messianic Jewish movement.
Don believes the return of the Messianic Jewish believers and congregations
is the clear fulfillment of prophecies both from the Hebrew Scriptures and
the New Testament and that this return connects prophetically to the larger
world revival.
Don was one of the founders of Teen Challenge in Nashville, is an
alumnus of Leadership Nashville, has served as chairman of the National
Board of March for Jesus, is a member of the "Toward Jerusalem Council II,"
(a move to bridge the ancient gap between Jews and Gentiles). He also serves
on the governing council of the Messianic Jewish Ministry Tikkun
