few weeks ago, The Elijah List published my testimony of that amazing night when
Jesus hugged me (elijahlist.com/words...).
That was a powerful time that I always remember with goose bumps on my skin and
warmth in my heart. However, I also wanted to share with you all what happened a
couple years after that experience, when the Lord literally left the room.
I had been going through a lot during that time. The Lord had moved mightily,
but as it usually happens, the struggles were huge. I was fighting on many
fronts at once and was coming to the point of exhaustion. In the middle of it
all, I kept asking, "God, where are you?"
And sometimes at
the point of exasperation, I would just state that "God must have left me" and
other similar outbursts. I did not know it then, but I was bound to learn a big
lesson in just a couple minutes.
Darkness Was Closing In On Me
One night, I was
lying on the carpet in my room, trying to pray. I usually would just lie down
there and pray in the night until I cannot stay awake anymore.
I had come to the lowest ebb ever, and did not know what to do. However,
my complaining continued, and I kept asking God why He did not answer and
shouting, "Where are you?" with all the force of my spiritual lungs.
I was lying down
there trying to pray, when suddenly the room felt empty and started to close in
on me. There was this thick, even tangible darkness surrounding me and filling
that void. It was still my room, but it was at the
 same
time a void. And darkness was closing in on me. I tried to pray, but I could not
feel God. I felt God was not there. I had the most awful feeling of having been
left behind. It was as if the Lord had just come, and I was left behind. Even
though I wanted to pray, I did not have any God to address anymore. I could not
speak to the Father anymore, and I knew that the Holy Spirit was not there.
Jesus was just a story in my mind.
I felt as if all demons from hell where surrounding me, creating this darkness
that was engulfing my whole being, but I had no power whatsoever. Pleading the
blood had no effect. Praying in the Spirit was not possible and did not make
sense at all. I literally felt damnation closing in on me, and there was nothing
I could do. I desired that it was a dream, but I was wide awake. I was trapped
and unable to fight.
I literally cried out in the middle of the night, "God, help me." A few seconds
later, I started feeling the Holy Spirit's presence, softly "from the inside
out"; I did not feel Him as if coming from the outside. He was showing up from
the inside out, and as His presence grew, it pressed against that thick darkness
and caused it to go away until the room was clear, and I could feel the presence
of God again. I cried softly for hours and just thanked God for His presence.
Even In My Last Moments,
He Is Still There
When I was able to manage it, I asked the Lord, "What was this? What happened
here?" And the Lord quietly responded, "I wanted to let you know how it really
feels when I am not there." He had retired His Holy Spirit for just a few
moments so that I could experience what it is like when God is not there.
I will tell you
two things: One, I do not know how hell will be--if it is fire, or if it is a
cold and dark place. I don't know, and I don't care. What makes it hell is not
the cold or the fire or whatever else might happen there; what makes it hell is
that the Holy Spirit is not there. Two, I will never ever ask God, "Where are
you?" For now, I know that, even in my lowest moments, He is still there.

"Open Up
the Earth"

Christians often pray for an "open heaven." In
connection with our ministry earlier this year in the US and in Holland,
Jason sensed the Lord saying that the prayer that's needed today isn't "open
up the heavens".......but rather, "open up the earth". (God has always been
available to us; it is we who have not been open to Him.) All of us at Key
of David felt strongly that significant portions of these "live" ministry
times ought to be made available to the public.......and, in fact, that God
had already given us the title: "Open Up the Earth". Little did any of us
realize that in the ensuing months we would learn very personally what that
title was all about.
We began enlisting help, traveling to Nashville and spending money in an
effort to correct the obvious mistakes and begin the laborious mixing
process. But as the weeks and months wore on there was a discontent amongst
us with the results of that work. As we removed the mistakes and seemingly
enhanced the recordings via mixing......the anointing seemed to be ebbing
away. Eventually we concluded that we preferred the raw, off-the-board
recordings much more so than the edited, mixed versions.
Then the Lord brought home the lesson. In the beginning when God first
'opened up the earth', it was raw: no trimmed trees, no dammed rivers, no
tunnels and no levies. It was just creation in the rough......man had no
hand in it......and it was beautiful! Without realizing it we had for months
been working to 'close up the earth' when what God wanted was the raw, rough
'creation' that arose spontaneously during those ministry times.
Sometimes excellence results by correcting mistakes and doing what is needed
to perfect the product. But that is not always the case! Striving for
perfection......or making things relevant does not necessarily equate with
excellence. At times what's needed is to just trust in what was done
originally and allow it to stand. That is what we have now done.
As such, "Open Up the Earth" is now a collection of 2 track, off-the-board,
mixed-on-site audio recordings. Then we've added a DVD (a first ever for
Jason), which mirrors much of Disc 1 from Harrisburg, PA. Disc 2 is from
Holland with certain other material added. We are not referring to this as a
conventional "live" project. Rather, "Open Up the Earth" is a series of Holy
Spirit-led messages and prayers, put to song, as caught on tape during these
times of worship. We trust you will enjoy and be blessed by them.

Over 2,000 years ago the wise men
presented gold, frankincense, and myrrh to the infant Jesus. The tins inside
