REVEALED! WHAT GOD SPECIFICALLY WANTS FOR "THANKSGIVING!"

Though it may come as a SHOCK to many Christians, God was quite
specific this year, about what HE wants for Thanksgiving.
Well actually, He wants this for Thanksgiving, every day, 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week, 365 days a year!
Are you ready for the revelation?
He wants thanksgiving for EVERYTHING! Every. . . single. . . thing! But
as I like to say, "Don't take my word for it, check it out":
"At all times and for everything
giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father."
-- Ephesians 5:20 (AMP)
And then you have:
"Pray without ceasing. In every
thing give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."
-- 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
One of my favorite "God-Sequence" stories takes place years ago,
when my family and I had little money. VERY little. Our license plates were
expired, and we were on our way out of California, moving up to the Great
Northwest. With a young family, we hoped to start a new life up where my wife's
parents lived. It was about this time of year too!
But with NO MONEY, except enough gas money to drive out of state, we were
nonetheless in a special place with God. Merlin Carother's book called Prison
to Praise was still a best seller, and his instruction was essentially this:
"Good or bad--just thank God for FOR EVERYTHING!"
We were practicing doing that too. Everything, good or bad, we'd simply thank
God for it because He works in and through it all!
As we neared the northern border of California, suddenly the lights of the
California Highway Patrol came on, and we were pulled over. Derene and I knew it
was because of our expired license plates. We looked at each other and, believe
it or not, with true "feeling" we said, "Well, PRAISE THE LORD!" We meant
it too.
JUMPING BACK TOWARD THE PATROL CAR
Now back then, you could jump out of the car and head back toward the patrol
car. I'm not sure I'd do that today. But I did just that in 1985. I jumped out
and briskly walked toward the back of the car with my license and registration
in hand.
Standing halfway between our car and his, WHILE he wrote me my ticket for which
I had no money to pay, I shared the Grace of God with him. . . for 45 LONG
MINUTES. I'm sure my wife wondered what in the world we were talking about.
As he finally handed me my ticket, he admitted that he was a backslidden Baptist
and that this was just what he needed to hear. I had made his day. But then, he
had made my day too. I didn't even care about the ticket.
His final words ring in my ears to this day. He said, "You know, just before
I stopped you, I had a great meal. This time with you was better than that
meal!"
Wow! "This 'thanking God for everything' must actually work," I concluded. I
have more police stories, but that one remains my favorite.
HOW TO THANK GOD THROUGH OUR FAITH
Jesus said, "When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"
I'm here to tell you that while, yes, there will be a second
coming--nevertheless, Jesus is OMNIPRESENT, and He also lives in us right now.
For us who believe, the Son of Man (in this one sense) HAS COME ON EARTH
ALREADY, and he's looking for faith.
Faith and thanksgiving are very similar.
Faith means, "I've watched you. I've tested you, God, and I've found You
Faithful. Therefore, I'll trust you." God sees that faith as gratitude--as
THANKSGIVING, IN OTHER WORDS.
As I write this, it's the eve of Thanksgiving. The news is reporting that
at any one time today there are 7,600 passenger commercial airplanes
flying over the United States of America alone (not counting private jets and
planes, or cargo, or military planes.) Normally, there are only 5,000 airplanes
in the air over the USA.
I can pretty much guarantee that of the 22 million people who will fly this
Thanksgiving weekend, the vast majority of them, as they board the plane, don't
look to see if their pilot is male or female, young or old, experienced or
rather new.
No! Instead, they've read that flying by commercial airlines is the safest kind
of travel that there is. They TRUST. They have FAITH; they are THANKFUL that the
pilot on the airplane cares enough about himself and the passengers that he
won't take off with that plane unless it's safe to do so.
GOD IS OUR PILOT--THE PILOT OF THE UNIVERSE
AND OF OUR LIVES
God is our Pilot, and He controls the atmosphere around the earth. Are we
sometimes more trusting of our commercial pilot than THE PILOT in Heaven?
During this day and this season, PUT YOUR TRUST--your THANKSGIVING--in Jesus
Christ and His Father and the Holy Spirit as they pilot. . . they control the
events of the universe. And they control the events of your life.
So here's the secret now revealed: we've watched God. We've tested his
faithfulness as we look back on our lives, and we've discovered that we can put
our trust--our faith, our thanksgiving--in
this God!
So no matter how intense it gets--in all things and in all situations--GIVE
THANKS! To do this is the WILL OF GOD, IN CHRIST JESUS.
