Target Stores Form Alliance with Salvation Army to Help Those in Need
The facts about the "Christmas" issue from Target and the Salvation Army
corporate offices.
There are many things Christians are passionate about, and there certainly
should be. After all, Jesus told us in the book of Revelation to be
"zealous." This passion for the Lord should carry over into our daily life, and
ideally affect our perception of and reaction to everything that touches
us--people, issues, and circumstances. However, sometimes in our passion, we can
neglect to seek out the truth of a situation and just react.

Of course a big concern--especially the last couple of years--has been the way
the word and the history of "Christmas" has been seemingly banned by many public
institutions and retail stores for fear of offense to non-Christians. Perhaps,
the store that is drawing the hottest fire is Target. Many are boycotting the
giant retailer, and indeed, there have been reports of some decreased revenue.
Without arguing for or against a boycott in this case, let me just present the
facts as they stand so an informed decision can then be made.
-Yes, Target Stores have a "no solicitation"
policy. That goes for any organization or person wanting to solicit outside a
Target Store, including the Salvation Army.
-However, Target has, just this month, struck up a
partnership with the Salvation Army that will actually continue into next
year--long after the bell-ringers have packed up. The new program is an "online
wish list" where, beginning Nov. 25th, and going through January 25th, visitors
to www.Target.com can view and purchase
clothing, household items, personal products, and Gift Cards to be donated to
families across the country.
The Salvation Army will distribute the purchased items. In addition, guests
can directly connect to The Salvation Army's website to make a financial
donation.
-Yes, Target Stores, as well as many other
retailers, have chosen not to use the word "Christmas" in their advertising,
replacing it with "Happy Holidays."
-No, according to their customer relations
department, Target employees have NOT been told to never say, "Merry
Christmas," or anything with that connotation, but they are free to politely
address the customers seasonally, as they normally would.
Regarding the partnership Target now has with the Salvation Army, Laysha Ward,
vice president of community relations for Target, said, "The Salvation Army has
been vital in helping hurricane survivors through the recovery process, while
maintaining their steadfast commitment to strengthening local communities. We
share their ongoing commitment to long-term preparedness, and are proud to
partner with The Salvation Army, as we strive to make a real difference in the
lives of families across the country this holiday season."
And Major George Hood, national community relations and development secretary
for The Salvation Army, commented, "This is an important partnership with Target
to help the people of these areas begin to rebuild their lives. With their
assistance, we are enabling thousands of Gulf Coast families and people all
across the country to begin that process."
In closing, one Target shopper who was concerned by some of the stores actions
had another solution. Instead of boycotting Target, she shopped there looking
for Divine appointments that might arise and opportunities to be a witness for
the Lord. "We prayed and also spoke openly with the employees of the store,"
explained shopper Lisa Doyle. "[We] kind of witnessed to them, in a way. We made
it a point to do so. And this year, we will probably shop and do the same thing
and fill out a customer comment card."

Bobby Conner: "Shepherd's Rod Vol. 11 -- Facing The Future
With Faith"
by Bobby Conner
Eagle's View Ministries
www.bobbyconner.org
The
soul of man has been awakened by the events that have been unfolding. The spirit
of fear will attempt to exploit these unprecedented, traumatic times, seeking to
paralyze people with fear. In fact, the world news reports are chilling. The
overwhelming question echoing from mankind is: what does the future hold? People
of all walks of life are crying out in utter desperation, seeking answers to the
situations coming upon them. With increasing despair and great anguish, man is
seeking straight answers in these uncertain times. "What does the future hold?"
The world's attention has been arrested with reports of earthquakes that
virtually wipe-out entire cities in a moment. It would seem that the entire
earth is facing extreme, catastrophic problems.
We watch--shocked, stunned and horrified--as the earth is ravaged by
earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, fires, famines and wars which bring about
unspeakable acts of terror. We hear the warnings concerning looming plagues that
could kill untold millions in mere days.
Looking into the eyes and faces of people, you can see the deep desperation; one
can sense the cry for help as the soul of mankind cries out for understanding,
seeking help to grasp the days we are living in. With each bewildered look, you
hear the cry, "What is going on? What does the future hold?"
Considering all these things looming on the horizon, just what does the future
hold? Or will there even be a future? The answer is yes. God has promised a
future, filled with bright hope. Our goal must be to position our lives into the
place where God's promises become living reality.
Salt and Light
It is essential that the Body of Christ rise up and take our place in this
crucial hour; this is our destiny. We must stand confidently before a shaken
world. Lifting high, the Lord holding forth the Light of God's steadfast
promises, knowing it is the Truth that will set people free. Now is the time to
arise and shine. We must move in true faith--not fear.
It is during these dark days that the glory of God will be seen again upon His
people (Isaiah 60:1-5). We are to become a shining, brilliant city, set
on a hill giving hope to all who are set in darkness. We are identified as salt
and light; the world must see us function. If salt looses its effectiveness, it
is good for nothing but to be cast out and trodden down. As you well know, salt
in the great oceans of the world acts as a great preservative, helping to
cleanse and remove harmful contaminates from the earth. This must be true of our
life as well.
This Will Prove To Be The Church's Finest Hour
The question is: what does the future hold? The best answer to this question is
to point mankind to the fact of who holds the future. For the
followers of Christ Jesus, God has promised a future filled with bright hope.
This is not a time to despair; this will be the Church's finest hour. God
reveals His future plans for His people, stating, "I know my thoughts and plans
I have for you. . . My plan for you is that you have a future filled with hope,"
Jeremiah 29:11. He wants us to have a future filled with hope!
Only Believe
It is crucial that we take our stand, firmly relying upon the unshakable Word of
God. Our faith must move from the head to the heart. It is time to truly
believe. Faith that is not tested is not true faith. God is calling for faith
that will produce substance and evidence (Hebrews 11:1). No longer can we
just talk about God and His awesome power, we must move in Divine power (1
Corinthians 4:20). We must display the awesome deeds of God (See 1
Corinthians 2:1-5). The promise of Christ Jesus is stated in John 14:12,
"These works that I do and greater works than these
shall you do."
The Light of God's Word will dispel the doom of darkness. It is in His light
that we see light. It is not time to stumble in the dark, but rather, leap
in the light. As we yield to the Holy Spirit, lifting our eyes to behold His
glorious face, we too are changed into His likeness (See 2 Corinthians 3:18).
Wise Words To A Weary World

The Tongue of the Learned
An awakened ear releases the tongue of the
Learned (Isaiah 50:4) to speak a word in due season to them that are
weary.
The body of Christ will mobilize to lift up the feeble hands that bring strength
and hope. We must point man passed the problems to the promise. Our message must
be: "God is good, and He does good" (See Nahum 1:7). This will combat the
endless lies of the devil as he seeks to cast a shadow upon the goodness of God
and the validity of God's word (See Genesis 3:1-10). Does anyone have answers
for these days? The answer is a resounding "YES!" The Lord is releasing the much
needed light for these dark days.
It is not time to stumble in the dark, but rather to leap forward in the Light.
We are called to walk with a goal, aim, and divine purpose. Do not lose sight of
the promises. We are called to be salt and light to affect swift and sure
change. God will have for Himself a people of purity and power.
Walking with a goal, aim, and purpose during these times of confusion will
result in a calming effect. See Ephesians 5:14-15. This is how to respond
in these days of despair! "Let your light shine.
Darkness cannot put out the light; however, the light does dispel the deepest
darkness. You are the light of the world a city that cannot be hid."
See Matthew 5:14.
We must know the Word of God, and greater, we must know the God of the Word. Man
will not live during these days by bread alone but by every word that comes from
the mouth of God (See Matthew 4:4).
The Word of God must be in our mouth to wage war against the lies of the enemy.
Remember, the devil still repeats his first lines to mankind, "Has God said?"
Now is the time to stand firm upon the solid rock of the Word of God. A house on
sand cannot stand during these days of winds and rains of judgment. See
Matthew 7:27. Only the firm foundation of faith in Christ will sustain us in
these times of trouble. The words of this song say it well, "On Christ the solid
Rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand." This must be our message--the
solid rock of faith in Christ.
The
Lord is My Light
I will say the Lord is my Light. We must learn to declare the promises of God in
order to enjoy the protection of God. We must declare what God has spoken over
us. Joel 3:10 declares that the weak are to declare themselves strong and
fit for any purpose. In Micah 3:8, we discover that we are, without
question, filled with the Spirit of God, producing ample power.
Decree the word of faith to destroy the plans of the devil; we must know what is
written. Christ Jesus released an awesome example of resisting with the written
Word in Matthew 4. Each time the devil spoke and attacked, Christ resisted with
the statement: "It is written." Truly, God's people are destroyed because of a
lack of knowledge of the Word. It is time to seek the Lord until He comes and
reigns righteous upon us (Hosea 10:12).
The name of the Lord is a strong tower. We must find our safety in the shelter
of the Lord, drawing ever closer and closer to the King of Glory.
It is the devil's plan to kill and destroy as many people as he can (John
10:10). However, God has a greater plan. He plans for you to have an
overflowing life. It is up to us, as children of God, to withstand the foe of
our soul in this conflict. If we truly resist the devil, he must flee (See
James 4:7).
Our goal is to establish the kingdom of God with power and true authority. You
are called to overcome--to be the head and not the tail, to be above and not
below. Greater is His power and presence within you than all the raging powers
of hell within the world. It is time to shake yourself awake and arise and shine
(See Isaiah 60:1).
This is no time to retreat, but it's time
to advance ever higher and deeper into the realm of the Spirit. These are the
days of God's dread champions. Be bold and very courageous, knowing that God has
promised to go before us, placing His fear upon the faces of our foes. The
conflicts of the kingdoms are upon us.
Share the
Bread of Heaven With a Starving World
Learn to speak victory and declare what God has spoken. Things are not like you
see. They are like God has said. In Job 22:28, we are instructed to
decree a thing, and it would be established. We must walk by faith and not by
sight. What we see can easily mislead us. However, what God said is faithful and
sure. The grass will fade and the flower vanish; however, the word of God will
stand.
It is time to read the manual and get to know the plans of God. Thy word have I
hid in my heart; it is in His light that we see light. Tell the good news to a
seeking world. We have the words of life. With great grace, we will share the
bread of Heaven with a starving world. Lift Him up high for all to see. Lift Him
up in your daily lives when people are watching to see how you will respond
during the days of hard testing.
As we walk in faith and love, confidence will replace chaos, and faith will
silence fear. The steadfast presence of Christ, living within His people will be
a calming force in a world shaken to the core. Scripture warns that men's hearts
will fail them for the things coming upon the earth. This could well be the
beginning of these times.
Remember God has not given us the spirit of
fear but of love and joy and a sound mind. Now is the time to set our mind and
heart upon the Lord, looking fully into His wonderful face, and the things of
earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace. Our mind will
be kept in perfect peace as we firmly focus upon the Lord.
Just as Paul stood before a hopeless people on the deck of a ship in the mist of
a terrible storm, his words were, "Be of good cheer. . . There stood by me this
night an angel. . . "
He is Steadfast and True
Someone must take a stand and declare the
good report. God will bring His people out. He will see us through. He did not
bring us this far to let us down. Our future is strong, and our hope is anchored
in God. He is steadfast and true. The Prophet Nahum declared, "God is good.. . .
a very present help in the time of trouble." And He knows the people who are
trusting in Him.
In Isaiah, we learn that if we are to maintain lasting peace, it will be because
we have fixed our mind upon the Lord (Isaiah 26:3). Remember, He said, "I
am the Lord. I change not."
Things change, and circumstances shift.
However, God remains steadfast and sure. For the people walking in true faith
and fully following Christ, God will release great grace and mercy. However, for
the people who choose to reject the wooing of God, these will be times of deep
sorry and pain. The cry from God's heart is: look unto ME and live.

Join Jim Goll on an exciting and insightful journey into
the visionary world of "The Seer"!
The prophetic movements in church history and in
contemporary life are fed by two mighty streams: the prophet, whose revelation
is primarily verbal, and the seer, whose revelation is more visionary in nature.
While the role of the prophet is familiar, less is known about the seer
dimension. To many people, these visionary prophets remain mysterious,
other-worldly, and even strange.
Knowledge dispels misunderstanding. Join author Jim W. Goll on an exciting and
insightful journey into this lesser-known dimension - the visionary world of the
seer. You will discover the prophetic power of dreams, visions, and life under
the open heavens.
How does visionary revelation "happen"? Can it be trusted? Where does it fit
into the life of the church today? Can any believer become a seer, or is this a
prophetic dimension reserved for the specially-gifted?
The Seer will move your heart and stir up your hunger for intimacy
with God, because "the seer's goal is to reveal the man Christ Jesus!"
John Sandford: "Jim W. Goll's 'The Seer' a Most Worthy
Successor to 'The Elijah Task'"
"If
all you have is the Spirit, you can blow up, but if you have the Spirit and the
Word, you will grow up. Nowhere have I found that adage more amply and wisely
elucidated than in Jim Goll's The Seer.
"Jim couples breathtaking revelation with wisdom, piercing insight with
discretion, high spirituality with balance and accountability, new knowledge and
understanding with exciting mystical experience.
"The Seer is a boat to shoot over the dangerous rocks of the rapids into
the high seas of prophetic expression and fruitfulness in the Lord. Having
pioneered the modern prophetic movement almost thirty years ago with the book,
The
Elijah Task, I find in Jim's book The Seer
a most worthy successor. To me, it is an honor to recommend this book to all. My
hope and prayer is that you will not just read it, but live it to the max for
the glory of our Lord." - John Sandford, Co-founder, Elijah House
International, Author,
The Elijah Task
"Jim
Goll has blessed the Body of Christ with a greater understanding of the
prophetic voice of the Lord. He has given much biblical insight and personal
experience that helps us understand the unique ministry of the Prophet and the
Seer. Also, valuable guidelines and principles are given concerning how to
discern a true word from the Lord and how to properly minister that word. This
book will be a very valuable resource for those who desire to be used in
prophetic ministry." - Dr. Bill Hamon, Chairman and Founder, Christian
International, Author of
Apostles, Prophets and
the Coming Move of God
"James
Goll's book The Seer is long overdue. Few can or do write like him. He
blends a rare combination of being both scholarly and very inspiring. It's
fascinating to me that, though I operate prophetically, it has been the seers in
my life, sent by God, who have given me the most significant revelation and
direction of the ministry of The Elijah List, as well as keeping me in touch
with the plans of God for my life." - Steve Shultz, The Elijah List,
www.elijahlist.com
"Jim
Goll's profound work, The Seer, is an excellent tool to educate the
Church on the gift of foresight and its significance in the lives of God's
people. The principles shared in this book will address misconceptions about
'seeing' and prepare the reader to experience the awesome benefits of this
ministry. I highly recommend The Seer to those who desire to know 'what
is yet to come.'" - Dr. Kingsley A. Fletcher, International Speaker,
Government Advisor, Author and Pastor, Research Triangle Park, NC
"For
all those who are seers and have wondered if anyone understood you, this book is
a gift for you. Jim Goll has clearly and scripturally opened the way for the
seer gift to be used in the Body of Christ. Fascinating book! You will love it!"
- Cindy Jacobs, Generals of Intercession
"Navigating
the unseen realm can be both enticing and challenging as believers seek to grow
deeper in the gifts of the Spirit, particularly related to that of the seer
gifting. Enticing, because it is awe-inspiring to come in contact with the power
and presence of the Lord through spiritual experiences that are often part of
that gifting. Challenging, because it is critical that the Word of God and
spiritual disciplines, such as prayer and intimacy, remain the solid footing on
which revelational experiences are interpreted.
"Jim Goll has succeeded in presenting a comprehensive study of the prophet/seer
gift, sharing substantial biblical understanding as well as experience from his
own spiritual journey. As with Jim's previous books, this one could well become
a manual for those pursuing the seer anointing." - Jane Hansen,
President, Aglow International
Concerning Jim Goll's book, "The Seer." It is an
experience. The first time I read it there were several times when I had to lay
it down because the spirit of revelation was so strong I could not catch my
breath. It felt like I was in a whirlwind. On the night that I finished the book
the first time, I had an experience with the Lord that has absolutely changed
me. I had a beautiful visitation. This book is very timely for the church. I
believe it will help to break open our "God boxes" that keep us from
experiencing the person of the Holy Spirit. I have to say, this book was truly
inspired from above. -Sue Lewis, Wingate NC
