A GARGOYLE IN THE ATTIC --(From page 32)
"I am reminded of a good example of spiritual discernment at work. Some years ago I was asked to pray over a building owned by some friends. Their business was located on the bottom floor, and some apartments occupied the top. The building had been plagued with continual problems including flooding. My friends had come to believe that there was a spiritual problem, so they called me. When I entered the building, I immediately knew something was very wrong. The evil was so strong that I couldn't breathe! Through discernment I knew that there was some object within the building that had demonic forces attached to it, and I knew it was somewhere above us.
Because my friends trusted by discernment, they spent $30,000 to tear out the ceiling in order to see what might be there. They found nothing. I knew that, despite their great efforts, something had been missed.
Some months later, as they were rennovating the building and having electrical work done, they discovered a cement gargoyle hidden in one corner of the attic. I knew that was what we had been looking for!
The Lord revealed that the gargoyle had been planted there as a fetish in order to curse the building. We destroyed the gargoyle and prayed through the building, dedicating it to the Lord. Since that time, my friends have not encountered any trouble with the building."
PRAYING OVER LAND --(From page 39)
"When you get an idea about any sins that may have given the enemy a foothold in your home, the first step is to pray a prayer of repentance [asking forgiveness for the sins committed there in your home or on your land]. Even though you may not have been the one that committed the sin, you can go to God on behalf of whoever committed the sin and ask forgiveness for that sin, applying the blood of Jesus to the land.
This is called "identificational repentance."
Doing this does not mean that the person who actually committed the sin will not have to answer to God for his or her actions. They will. What identificational repentance does, however, is bring the blood of Jesus into the situation in order to cut off the ongoing effects of that sin. It shuts the door to demonic occupancy in that place. Any demonic forces that have been there because of a particular sin issue can, at that point, be commanded to leave in Jesus' name, and they must do so because their legal right (which was linked with unremitted sin) has been removed.
We can then pray and invite the Holy Spirit into the land and dedicate it for God's use. By doing these things, we actually have the power to bring cleansing to land that has been defiled and rid our homes of spiritual darkness."
