Alane Haynes: Unstop the Wells and Watch the Living Water Flow Freely!

Dreams of Wells and Waterfalls

We have undergone many trials in recent months—doctor visits, urgent care, plumbing and car issues. I know many others have also. Recently, I have had a multitude of dreams regarding wells and waterfalls that have blessed me tremendously, and the Holy Spirit has been speaking to me about them and prompted me to share them! I pray you are blessed, exhorted, encouraged, and strengthened, and that your spirit is stirred to life!

On November 4, 2025, I had the first dream; it was short and odd. I was seeing things as if I was inside the ground. I was outside but able to clearly see inside. I could see three well shafts and where they extended to the top of the ground. Two had water, but they were capped. The other was undug or filled with dirt, but I could see an outline showing it was a well.

On November 13, 2025, I had four consecutive segments of waterfall dreams. In the first dream, I was in a place like Zion National Park. It was a desert place with sandstone mountains and structures, many with waterfalls coursing down from the top. In the second dream, I was in a higher setting with beautiful grassy hills, and I saw many waterfalls and springs. In the third dream, I was on a train in the mountains en route to a destination. It traversed through many heavily wooded forest areas, abounding with springs and waterfalls around almost every bend. Some were nearly hidden, but I was intently looking and saw them.

In the fourth dream, I arrived at a visitor center. Inside were many people engaged in conversations, but I was captivated immediately by something very odd. On the far side of the room, half of the wall seemed to morph into a sandstone structure that curved around to the next room's entrance. The height of it extended to the ceiling and continued through a large hole. There were two sets of steps dug into the sandy structure, one set in each room. As they rose, they came closer together and merged into one near the hole.

The steps were eroded and broken in places and were very narrow and steep. There were no handrails. I was aware of these things, but I had no fear; I was compelled to ascend. I climbed and went through the hole. It opened into a beautiful, high mountain top. Right in front of me was a huge waterfall as wide as a large room and overflowing with crystal clear water. I looked up and could not see the top; it seemed limitless. I was enthralled in the experience. I closed my eyes and could feel the water splashing on me and drenching me; my mouth was open, receiving fully. I opened my eyes again, marveling at the beauty. As I gazed at the immense height and width, I saw Jesus encompassed in it. I woke up.

I shared these things with my husband, Kerry. When sharing about the last waterfall, I was weeping, as I again experienced the magnificence and beauty of the Lord while being enveloped in His pure water.

The Waterfall Dreams: Spiritual Significance

There is a clear and obvious meaning of free-flowing water—Jesus! There are many Scriptures revealing that Jesus is living water! Here are a few:

"And He showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb." (Revelation 22:1 NKJV) (Photo via Pexels)

"But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life." (John 4:14 NKJV)

In each waterfall dream, I was ascending higher. The Lord is compelling us—come up higher (Revelation 4:1)!

In my fourth and final dream, these are the keys He emphasized to me:

1. Trust in God

In my dream, in order to ascend to the top, I had to climb up through a way that could seem dangerous and unprotected to the natural mind: there were no handrails, I had no idea what lay beyond, and the stairs were broken and eroding in places. This indicate places where faith might be weak. My being compelled in the dream signifies the Spirit of the Lord compelling us upward, to move past all thoughts of "what might happen" and put our trust fully in Him! There is so much more in store!

2. Covenant

There were two sets of steps, which represent ascension. Two is the number of witness and covenant. They merged into one at the access point of the next level. I believe this indicates the necessity of embracing the covenant we have with God through Christ, living from our oneness in Him so that we can move forward into all that has been ordained for us!

3. Faith Is Our Shield

In our life in recent months, we had an indication that it might be time to get a new car. (Cars signify moving from one place to another but can also symbolize ministry.) Our car was low to the ground, and the protective barrier underneath kept coming loose in the front when it "hit things" (often on ministry assignments)! This reminded me of the broken and eroding steps in the dream.

The enemy will always try to keep us from moving forward. What was stopping us from getting another car was our concern about making payments in the future "if something unforeseen happened." This is fear of the future—forgetting God's provision! God has always provided for me, and it's often been supernaturally. We purchased a new car, and afterward God confirmed it was the right decision in two significant ways! Take the step He is showing you! Trust Him!

When we "hit things," i.e. face opposition like hard places, trials, any circumstance where we don't know what's going on, or we don't know the outcome, does our "protective barrier"—the shield of faith—come loose when hit with fiery darts of fear, doubt, and unbelief, or other deceptive voices not sourced in truth?

"Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one." (Ephesians 6:16 NKJV)

Also, our ministry has moved into a new level where there are no handrails and the Holy Spirit moves freely; praise the Lord! This will happen with others. If the Holy Spirit is leading, believe and move forward!

The Clogged Well: Spiritual Symbolism and Life Application

In my dream about the wells, I saw three of them—two capped and one filled with dirt or not dug yet. I knew this was a clear representation of Isaac's experience in Genesis 26, because the Holy Spirit immediately revealed that to me. (I will share on that later.) Spiritually, clogged wells represent blockages we have that are interrupting the flow of the Holy Spirit! Jesus said, "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water" (John 7:38 NKJV). (Photo via Wikimedia Commons)

In the natural, we had a clogged pipe in our house, causing a backup. We called a plumber, and he came out and unstopped it. A few days later, it happened again, because there was a clog in a deeper area that was "hidden."

Blockages in our lives are being revealed and uprooted. When our spiritual flow is blocked, we may have to dig deep to find the source. What is stopping up our wells? The Holy Spirit is revealing them so they can be removed!

"But He answered and said, 'Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted.'" (Matthew 15:13 NKJV)

Some of the blockages may be offenses, grievances, bitter roots, wounds, disappointment, unbelief, doubt, etc. These stop the free-flowing movement of the Holy Spirit. (You receive, then pour out to others and He fills you up again.) If not dealt with, they will cause backup and overflow toxins, affecting other areas, like relationships; they may even develop into sickness or cause you to move backward rather than going forward!

Get rid of them! Let them all go! The Holy Spirit will help you! He is saying, "No longer drink from the wells that are bitter. I am revealing what the enemy has been concealing to bring you healing!"

Control caps the waters of the Holy Spirit!

I heard the Holy Spirit say, "Tell them it's time to take the leash off of Me! Instead of trying to control My movement, let Me control your movements!"

All we need to control is "self"—the thoughts that lead us away from trusting God and the actions that cap His flow!

Are you dry? Find the well! Maybe you're not clogged but dry! In every moment, the Holy Spirit wants to flow freely. Find the well! We can access the well in many ways: worship, the Word, ministering to someone, believing, declaring, trusting, a prophetic act, and prayer. Prime the pump; pray in the Holy Spirit and faith will rise!

"But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit." (Jude 1:20 NKJV)

Redig the Wells of Covenant!

When I woke up from the dream about the wells, the Holy Spirit immediately reminded me of Isaac's wells in Genesis 26, and He told me that the lessons in it are vital in this hour for the Body of Christ:

1. Don't Return to Egypt!

During a time of famine, God told Isaac not to go to Egypt but to go to Gerar, and that He would bless and prosper him in accordance with the covenant He made with Abraham. We are grafted into that same covenant, and we have a better covenant in Christ! Through Him, we have access to every heavenly and earthly blessing. We don't have to go to Egypt for supply!

Egypt represents bondage and the world's ways: idolatry and demonic structures; systems of advancement based on control, pride, and greed; man's ways versus God's ways; striving for our needs to be met. Seek Him and He will supply!

"But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Matthew 6:33 NKJV)

"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:19 NKJV)

2. No Wallowing!

Gerar was Philistine land. The root of the word "Gerar" means "to drag off roughly," "to bring up the cud (i.e. ruminate)," and "to saw" (Strong's H1641). Spiritually, this is a place of trial and temptation, where the enemy brings up old hurts to drag you away and harm you! God told Isaac to go there! We go through trials to overcome, prosper, and take new ground!

Isaac had to redig the wells his father Abraham had dug, because they had been stopped up by the Philistines. The origin root for the word "Philistine" denotes "the physical act of rolling in dust or ashes." It means to "roll (wallow) self" (self-pity) (Strong's H6428), signifying helplessness. But we have the Helper, and Jesus has already overcome all things! Sometimes what is hindering us is not the devil but our self-oriented focus instead of a God/Kingdom focus. Dig deep through the fleshly and soulish layers so rivers of living water can flow freely in and through you! (Photo via Pexels)

Leave strife and enmity behind, and you will move forward into favor and expansion! Isaac's servants dug two new wells in the valley of Gerar. Both were met with fierce opposition from the herdsmen in the land who said the water was theirs. Isaac named the first well "Esek," which means "strife." The second he named "Sitnah," which means "hatred" and "enmity." Isaac did not engage with them! He and his servants left those wells and moved on! The enemy contends with us to stir up strife, hatred, and enmity to try and keep us bound and trapped in anger and division. Refuse to engage; move forward!

"Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be." (Romans 8:7 KJV)

They moved forward and dug a new well. This time there was no opposition. Isaac named this well "Rehoboth," which means "broad places," signifying expansion. In the natural, Rehoboth is believed to have been at a higher elevation than Gerar; this applies to the spiritual as well! Move past strife and enmity and dig deep into a new well! Living water will flow, and the Lord will bring favor and expansion!

"He who is of a proud heart stirs up strife, but he who trusts in the LORD will be prospered." (Proverbs 28:25 NKJV)

Prophesy to Your Wells!

Prophesy, "Spring up O well; let the living water flow!"

"Then Israel sang this song: 'Spring up, O well! All of you sing to it.'" (Numbers 21:17 NKJV)

Sing into your wells with the word of the Lord! Declare to the innermost parts of your being that you will drink deeply from the river of life, and out of your belly will flow rivers of living water that will never run dry!

"Behold, God is my salvation. I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the LORD, the LORD, is my strength and song; and He has become my Yeshu'ah. Therefore with joy you shall draw water out of the wells of Yeshu'ah." (Isaiah 12:2–3 HNV)

Trust God and trust His ways. His living water will flow freely in and through you like never-ending waterfalls of unstoppable glory and wells of praise, blessing, compassion, creativity, fresh anointing, and new wine! Dig deep into the wells of salvation (Yeshu'ah), the living water deep inside. Dig deep, past the soul and flesh, to where the living God abides.

I hear the Lord saying, "You have been sensing My compelling, and I am now confirming it is time to come up higher to live above the muck and mire that have kept you in a state of confusion. Now is the time; come out of disillusion and into full union with My will and My ways. No more delays. Come into fullness," says the Ancient of Days, "and your life will be filled with amazement and endless praise."

"He who believes in Me [who adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Me], as the Scripture has said, 'From his innermost being will flow continually rivers of living water.'" (John 7:38 AMP)
