Understanding God's Timing and Delay
Have you ever experienced a delay in something you believe God had promised you?
Sometimes, what seems like a delay is God's perfect timing! And we can trust Him because He is always at work. But at other times, delay goes beyond mere circumstance. It works to steal our joy and undermine our faith.
Some signs that delay may be affecting us negatively include:
• Discouragement—when we lose heart and feel depleted.
• Loss of momentum—where our drive to move forward fades.
• Doubt—when the promise or vision feels out of reach.
• Hurt—when disappointment has left us wounded.
As Solomon said, "Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life" (Proverbs 13:12 NLT). If you can relate to this, I pray this word revives you today.
God is healing His people from the sting of delay! He is pouring out the oil of joy. Together, let's declare: "The power of delay is broken, in Jesus' name! Delay is broken."
Delay Is Broken: 5 Ways to Pray for Breakthrough
One evening, I was preparing a training session for leaders on how to hear God's voice. The image of an open door was in my mind, and I reflected on this thought: "The Kingdom of God is not a problem to solve. It is an inheritance to receive."
Suddenly, I felt a longing to hear the final words of my dear friend, Julie Calvert, who passed into glory nearly two years ago. (Julie was a dear friend, a spiritual mother to many, and a former national director of Healing Rooms New Zealand. We first met nearly thirty years ago.)
It had been a long time since I'd heard it. What I didn't realize was that the Holy Spirit was drawing me, connecting that moment to the very theme I was studying.
Prophetic Word by Julie Calvert: "Delay Is Broken"
(Word released October 2023)
Julie declared: Don't pray the same old prayers. He's got a new way of praying. It's time to pray the Omega prayers from the heart of the Father. It's time to go into the closet, listen to what He's saying, and then pray His prayers that are on His heart back to Him, and He will release them over the earth. (Photo via Unsplash)
And the word I get is "Delay is broken." And I know that's been out and about for many a day, but I really sensed when I asked Him yesterday, what is the word?
He said, "Tell My people delay is broken, and that the breakthrough is here."
You're not waiting for it any longer, but you need to hear the prayers that God is saying and release those prayers to Him; He will release them across the earth. It's a time of Omega prayers. And we thank You for this, Lord. We thank You for each one who receives this. Father, give them a revelation, because it's only by revelation that this will come.
In this word, Julie declared: "Delay is broken. The breakthrough is here." Then she added, "Don't pray the same old prayers. It's time to pray the Omega prayers from the heart of the Father."
Her words carried hope, and I knew the Lord was speaking not just to me but to many waiting on Him.
The Omega Door
The next morning, Malcolm and I walked through the city on our way to church. With Julie's message fresh in my mind, I paused outside the Omega watch store. It felt like a divine appointment.
The door handles, shaped like large Omega symbols, caught my eye. An hour later, as I worshiped, it struck me: those door handles were a symbol!
The entry is by Jesus' finished work on the cross. Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. God's Kingdom isn't locked behind a formula or secret code. The door is already open to us because of Christ's finished work.
And the Father is saying, "Beloved! I always have time for you."
5 Ways to Pray for Breakthrough
1. See the Father at work now.
"My Father is always working, and so am I." (John 5:17 NLT)
Even when we feel stuck, God is arranging things behind the scenes. (If you want to read more about this from Helen Calder, click here.)
Pray: "Father, open my eyes to see what You are doing today."
2. Step through the Omega door.
"So don't be afraid, little flock. For it gives your Father great happiness to give you the Kingdom." (Luke 12:32 NLT)
The door into God's Kingdom is not locked; it is already open through Jesus' finished work.
Pray: "Jesus, I step into Your finished work and receive all You have for me."
3. Pray fresh Kingdom prayers.
As Julie said, "Don't pray the same old prayers. It's time to pray the Omega prayers from the heart of the Father."
This is the Matthew 6:10 prayer: "Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth, as it is in Heaven" (NKJV). (Photo via Pixabay)
Pray: "Father, give me fresh prayers from Your heart to release into the earth."
4. Occupy the promise with praise.
Just as God told Abraham to walk through the land He was giving him (Genesis 13:17), prayer is how we "set foot" in God's promises before we see them fulfilled. And when we add thanksgiving, delay loses its grip.
Pray: "Lord, I take hold of Your promise and praise You for the breakthrough."
5. Address the Spirit of delay.
Sometimes, delay is not just circumstantial; it's an assignment against us. In these moments, we can rise in faith and declare God's victory.
Declare: "In Jesus' name, I break agreement with the spirit of delay. You will no longer hold me back. I declare the power of delay is broken! Father, I receive Your healing where delay has wounded me. I receive Your joy where delay has wearied me. And I receive fresh faith for the promises You have spoken."
A Shift in Perspective
God once showed me a vision of a boy outside a candy store with only one coin in his back pocket. I felt his desire and the smallness of that coin. But then the Spirit whispered, "His father owns the store."
Suddenly, my perspective changed! And this is the very lesson He is emphasizing again: We are not on the outside looking in. The Father invites us to ask, to receive, and to enjoy His goodness.
Healing the Sting of Delay
In this season, God is healing His people from the sting of delay. So, take hold of this word: Step through the Omega Door and pray fresh prayers. Occupy the promise in faith. Declare that the power of delay is broken and raise your voice in praise, for your God is faithful. Your breakthrough is closer than you think.
