"We made Jesus Christ the
center of the government" - One Filipino City's Transformation and Hope for the
Nation

Though turmoil surrounds the recent election in
Manila and tensions are high, the transformation of one city in the Philippines,
"from massacre to miracle," is bringing hope for a future throughout the whole nation.
CWN reports about the city of Escalante back in 1985, when 20 activists were massacred
while protesting the corruption that was rampant in the city government at the time.
The city was the disdain of its neighbors and businessmen and thought to be cursed.
Instead of giving up, however, Christians in the city were moved by its condition
to pray fervently. The answer to their prayers was a "godly and competent" missionary
who was elected mayor: Santiago Barcelona, Jr. "We made Jesus Christ the center
of the government," said the mayor, whose leadership brought the spark needed for
transformation.
New schools and houses were built. And a coalition was formed made up of police
and pastors dedicated to wiping out drug use by sharing God's word with the youth
of the city . . .

As
I am writing this we have just received news that President Bush is slated to announce
his Supreme Court nominee at a press conference at 9 pm EST tonight. Church, this
is the hour to watch and pray! We do not know for certain whom Bush will nominate
to replace Sandra Day O'Connor, but we do know this: the future of our nation hangs
in the balance of this decision.
As I stood with my band of intercessors in front
of the Supreme Court today, I looked down at my hands and noticed that the golden
pen I was holding said "Hadassah," which is Esther's Hebrew name. This is no coincidence.
Let us join with Bush in prayer and fasting just as Mordecai and all the Jewish
people did with Esther before she made her appearance in the court of the King.
It is clear from the warfare and contention for the last two elections that the
battle for influence over our courts is crucial and that Bush was elected for such
a time as this.
We urge you to take the next few hours and join us in intercession for President
Bush. Numerous prophetic voices have referred to Bush as a burning bush who would
begin to break the power of abortion in America. We believe that this is the main
thrust of Bush's calling in this hour. We are asking you to hold up our President
as we wait for his announcement and pray that he would fulfill the purposes that
God had in mind when He installed this man as the ruler of our nation (Acts 13:36).
 Pray
that the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him -- the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the
Lord -- and that President Bush would delight in the fear of the Lord. Pray that
he would not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with
his ears; but with righteousness and justice (Isaiah 11:2-3). Ask the Holy Spirit
to visit President Bush and to send forth light and truth to guide him as he finalizes
his decision (Psalm 43:3).
Join us in exalting the Lord over this nation. Psalm 149:6 states,
"May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged
sword in their hands." We have the sword of God's word through scriptural
decrees and the prophetic insight that God has released over our president (Hebrews
4:12). May this word penetrate and divide soul and spirit and judge the thoughts
and attitudes of the President's heart. We exalt you, Lord, for our President's
heart is in Your hand and You direct it like a watercourse wherever You please (Proverbs
21:1). You foil the plans of the nations and thwart the purposes of the peoples,
but Your plans, O Lord, stand firm forever and the purposes of Your heart through
all generations (Psalm 33:10-11).
Pray to replace prayer removed from schools in Engel v. Vitale.
Jesus, I plead your blood over my sins and the sins of this nation. God, end abortion
and send revival to America.

Daily Prayer for President Bush:
God, we thank you for a President who serves You and calls upon Your Name. We
ask that You would give President Bush a supernatural encounter with Your fire --
a burning bush experience that will call him forth as a deliverer for those who
are crying to be saved out of the waters of the womb.
Holy Spirit, breathe your call deep into his
spirit -- that he would know who he is and that you have chosen and qualified him
to break the power of abortion in America. God, may your word be like a coal upon
his lips and fire in his bones, that he cannot remain silent, but will pursue justice
for the oppressed and freedom for the pre-born children in our nation. May Bush,
like the sons of Issachar recognize the time he is in and what he should do.
Be, Spirit of Justice, in the heart of President
Bush and strengthen him as he stands in the gates of this nation. Empower him to
fulfill the destiny You have assigned to him. May Your word direct his heart into
Your perfect love that casts out all fear, and fill him with Christ's perseverance.
We plead the perfect Blood of Jesus over our President and every decision he will
be making as our leader. Put a hedge of protection around him, his family, and his
staff. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
