Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I truly believe that the church is the most important force on the earth, and in no way do I promote an alternative to the local church. I believe that there is a place for the office of the Prophet in the church. However, I don't believe that the Prophet can function ONLY within the local church. As Evangelists hold campaigns to evangelize outside of the walls of the church, so a true Prophet should have a place with the correct environment to enable him to prophesy and raise up others to function within their culture and profession prophetically. As I said, I don't believe that "prophesying" is solely speaking the Word of the Lord to individuals with insight and foresight.

1 Corinthians 14: 24 But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all . . .

Upon examining this scripture, I discovered a few unusual truths regarding "prophesying together." Just before John Osteen passed away, he called me and requested to meet with me privately. I met him at a restaurant, and he asked me some personal questions about his future and the future of his church. He also asked me what I thought about 1 Corinthians 14:24 (in specific reference to "If all prophesy and an unbeliever comes in"). His question was, "How could all prophesy together?" After careful consideration, I answered him. I explained that prophecy was not specifically standing and saying, "thus says the Lord," but possibly singing together in agreement with the prophetic promises, etc. I feel that music is a big part of this, because in our gatherings the music speaks the Word of the Lord through me, and ultimately brings the people into perfect unity by their singing the exact words that have been given, together. I continued to explain that while this is occurring, the unbelievers present are "convinced" by all. The prophetic unity of the people ultimately brings about conviction and then, and most importantly, "the secrets of their hearts" are revealed.
 

The Power of the Prophetic Atmosphere

For too long the church has taught that the word "secret" refers to the sins of the heart. I cannot believe this, because Paul teaches in Corinthians that once the secrets are revealed, the unbeliever will "fall on their knees, worshipping God, declaring that God is truly amongst you." If someone's secret sin is exposed, the result is NOT worshipping God, but repentance. I saw that the power of the prophetic atmosphere results in the revealing of the "secrets" of a human being's heart, and this promoting "worship" from an unbeliever, and ultimately salvation. I studied the word secret. The translated Greek word is "Kryptos/Mystikos"; the translated Latin is "Specialis."

Does God have secrets, and if He does, why? Who would He choose to share them with? Considering man is so disloyal . . . He called Abraham his "friend forever" . . . what gave Abraham such deep consideration on the part of God?

While I was in Rome, Italy, I took a tour of the Vatican. I came across a small door that was guarded by two soldiers. Above the door was a sign, "Kryptos." I inquired of the guards as to what was beyond the door; they replied "the greatest treasure of Rome and the Church lies beyond this door." Suddenly, I understood what the true gift of prophecy was about: When an unbeliever comes into one of our meetings, he is beaten up, feeling rotten about himself, and extremely aware of his sins and failures. I don't need to use my gift to expose anymore of his waywardness and sin. The prophetic atmosphere must reveal and bring out the treasure that lies within every human being, which only Jesus Christ can unlock, and release: destiny and future. Once the unbeliever realizes that there is hope and simply catches a glimpse of the treasure within the earthen vessel, the result is enormous gratitude and worship towards God.

The Greek translation of the word "friend" is "someone to talk to." Could this mean that God created someone who was just like Him, in order to share His heart? A secret is God sharing His heart with someone who has a sharing heart.

Abraham was prepared to do anything to please God: true friendship is selfless. When God wanted to "feel" what a father felt when offering up and killing His only son, He asked Abraham to do it -- "offer your only son as a sacrifice of the Altar" -- for one moment Abraham exchanged places with God. God felt Abraham's pain and Abraham felt God's pain. Therefore, Abraham had access to a "secret."
 

Memories are Memorials

In Genesis 22, when questioned by his son, Abraham tells him that God will Himself provide the sacrifice. Abraham found out what God had planned, by experiencing, for a moment, what God experienced when He sacrificed His Son, Jesus. This kind of intimacy was rare. Abraham is still God's friend. Two hearts become one beat in friendship.

Abraham created a memory for God. God would never forget what Abraham did in such complete obedience. He would remember it and bless Abraham's descendants forever. Today, we still see Abraham's blessing on the Jews and Christians alike . . . even the Muslims. Think about memories. When you look at a photo of a past event with a friend or family, there is a familiar feeling that comes to you. You are literally taken back to that moment. Your senses are once again aroused and the memory becomes a reality again. Even music or a smell can revive the feeling of that moment. These are the secret things in a heart.

Memories are memorials . . . if a picture speaks a thousand words, a picture could be a memorial: "Do this in remembrance of me" Jesus said. The wine and the bread bring you back to the secret place with Him. It prompts many feelings that you may have forgotten. God will remember the "eternal" things that we do. What did you do when you were young in the Kingdom that brought you intimacy with God? Maybe you don't do this anymore, but when you are reminded and brought back to that place, it prompts you to relive it by the action that follows.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty! Secret place? What does this mean? A place that God chooses to meet you; this is not our decision, but His choice. If God tells you to do something for Him, and you obey Him (even if you don't feel like you want to), you have entered the secret place and He can share many things with you. Must you "live" under the shadow of God? It is impossible to be in someone's shadow unless you are extremely close to them.

God's secrets are with those who fear Him.
