LIKES PUZZLES
"We love because he first loved us." I John 4:19
One evening this week, our youngest son Samuel and I were spending some time together
just before his bedtime. We were working together on a jigsaw puzzle when Samuel
said, "God likes puzzles; He made the whole world like a great big puzzle." Samuel
went on to explain that our Minister had visited the children at school assembly
and had told them this.
I smiled at Samuel as we continued with the puzzle. It delighted me that he had
been paying attention to the Minister and had thought about the message that had
been shared. I replied, "I think I know why God likes puzzles Samuel . . . it's
because He's the only one who knows how everything works and how to put us all together."
We laughed out loud and continued with the puzzle.
Samuel often says things that cause me to think deeply on the Lord and His ways.
This comment was no exception. It made me think of the wonder of our God, who is
the Father of Lights and from whom every good and perfect gift flows. The Lord has
made us in so many diverse ways and yet by His Spirit he calls us to unity, peace,
and love.
Even when there are things in life that puzzle us, God is ever present with His
compassion, grace, and wisdom. On reflecting on these simple thoughts I was reminded
of a vision some years ago. I pray it is a blessing to you all today. I pray that
today we would fully embrace the truth of our identity in Christ.

VISION -- THE FATHER'S HEART BEAT
A number of years ago I was lifted up in the Spirit and Jesus began working on my
ears. He removed a small black object from my inner ear. I asked Jesus what this
was and He replied, "These are lies that have been spoken into your life." He then
removed the object, which released healing from the effects of these lies and this
enabled me to hear Him with greater clarity.
AN EAR TO HEAR
The Lord then attached a small earphone to my ear. It looked fairly high-tech! I
was impressed! He plugged the end of the lead of the earphone into His chest. I
laughed out loud because I could hear His heart beat! The Lord laughed, too, most
probably at my child-like giggles. It was delightful to hear His heartbeat so clearly.
HIS HEARTBEAT IS HIS VOICE
The Lord then instructed me to open my mouth. As I carefully responded to His instructions,
I began to speak and a glorious Light emanated from my mouth. The more intently
I listened to His heartbeat, the greater the intensity of Truth that came out of
my mouth. In the same way, the church today will speak with absolute authority and
clarity if she will only listen to her Father's heart.
"I WILL COME WHEN YOU CALL"
The vision changed and I saw a little girl playing hide and seek with her father.
She had her eyes closed, but was listening intently for his footfall. He came to
his daughter, sat down with her, then lifted her onto his knee. She immediately
yielded to his tender embrace and cuddled into him. She looked earnestly into his
face, keen to hear her father's words. He said, "Sweetheart, you don't have to play
hide and seek to find me -- I will come when you call."
I was struck by the simple picture of a small child in her father's arms and of
the powerful reality that similarly, God our Father really does want us to spend
time with him. It's not a game, although it is delightful, and it isn't a burden
for Father to respond to His children. He loves it when we call His name! He longs
for us to draw near and receive His embrace.
THE FATHER'S LOVE
The little girl smiled at her father and he gazed lovingly at her. She rested her
head on his chest, and I was able to hear the same heartbeat I had a moment before.
I felt peace and the tenderness and depth of Father's love washed over me in a new
measure. I received deeper understanding of God's awesome and absolute care and
protection of His children.
Peace saturated my being.
The Father's heartbeat is still ringing in my ear . . .
