Nellie O'Hara: "The Time of Exceeding Expectation!"

Nellie O'Hara

From the Desks of Steve Shultz and Julie A. Smith:

Steve Shultz

God is so good...and He's always wanting us to be full of hope in Him and what He will do for His sons and daughters.

In fact, as Scripture tells us in Ephesians 3:20, "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us..." And it doesn't get more clearer than that!

Nellie O'Hara shares this very encouraging word with you right here:

And here we are in this wonderful time. We are at many "Red Sea" moments that God is going to do in our lives. We have been praying and waiting, contending and believing, and now – through the voices of the prophets, and as a people who understand times and seasons – we are about to see God move in amazing ways. He says He will exceed our expectations.

Stand, Watch and Expect

I recently had a dream...so vivid and so colorful. I was at a beach, standing right where the waves of the water were gently coming in and out of the shore. I remember looking out over the glistening water to the horizon, thinking how beautiful it was. The tips of the waves were sparkling in a dance-like motion. It was summertime. It was a now time.

I wanted to sit on the sand and just watch this beautiful scene. I couldn't sit, though, because there were tiny rocks and the sand was wet. I knew I was to keep standing. So, I inquired of the Lord, and in my spirit He said, "It is not a time to relax or get comfortable." He told me to keep standing, and to watch and expect. He told me to be ready for what was coming; He told me to watch with expectation for what is coming.

Even as the earth waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed, we are to wait in the same way for what Jesus is about to bring forth in our lives.

"According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death." (Philippians 1:20)

God was showing me that this is the time of "exceeding expectation."

"Do not call to mind the former things, or ponder things of the past. Behold, I will do something new, now it will spring forth; will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Submitting to God and Taking in the "Wow" Moments

It is a time to move into new levels of submitting ourselves to God.

As I write this, it is raining, and it is one of those summer rains. My windows are open, and I am listening to the sound of the rain falling... It is so beautiful. The sounds of nature outside are so fluid in the experience. I am taking in the moment and experiencing great peace.

It is important to slow down and actually stop to take in the moment that is happening. The Holy Spirit within you has a voice that He wants you to listen to. He wants you to listen to His counsel. He is working in you to show Himself to you in the midst of all the business, filtering through all the distractions of the day. These moments that you take in will draw you back into that counsel with the Holy Spirit, refocus you and strengthen you. They are "WOW" moments. WOW moments are not always loud; they can be very quiet, yet so impactful. It's in these moments that your faith becomes active in expectation. Selah.

The Holy Spirit wants to counsel you and bring you to those places to exceed your expectations. Psalm 62:5 says, "My soul [mind, will and emotions], wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from Him" (emphasis mine). What are you expecting today? Let's ponder on taking the cap off and exceeding the limitations we have put on ourselves and our situations.

Who Do I Say You Are?

I hear the Lord say, "Who do I say you are? You are a king and priest."

"...And have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth." (Revelation 5:10)

"Do what you are doing today, in the NOW moment, with excellence. As Joseph was in prison, he was appointed responsibility for everyone and everything in the prison, because I was with him and gave him success. Know this, today, that I am with you in your waiting, and will be with you to give you success in all you do until the appointed time that moves you into what you are waiting for. You are a temple of the Holy Spirit; never forget who lives inside of you. Continue to offer your body as a living sacrifice," says the Lord. (Photo via Flickr)

"And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. You know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you." (John 14:16-17)

Prayer

Holy Spirit, this is my prayer, and this is my desire...that I would know You more and more intimately – that my revelation of who You are would increase.

Holy Spirit, I love that You live inside me and that I bring You wherever I go. I love that You love me and You want to draw me deeper. That is my desire too. I know that You will exceed my expectations because that is what Your Word says.

"Never doubt God's mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this. He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination! He will outdo them all, for His miraculous power constantly energizes you." (Ephesians 3:20)

In this season, be watchful and alert, and be expectant of the goodness of God with exceeding expectations!
