October
1, 2004: I need you to be at peace right now. You keep getting advice
from this one and that one. But you are not seeking My own instructions to you.
Do you recall how King David forgot to inquire of God and the trouble that
ensued? Let that not happen to you. The cost is very high for not seeking Me and
My directions. You should always ask yourself, "What has God said about this?"
And then seek Me while I may be found. I need you to be at peace right now.
Job 22:21-22 "Yield now and be at peace with Him; thereby good will come to
you. Please receive instruction from His mouth, and establish His words in your
heart." |

HOW
IS THE CHURCH TO BE PREPARED TO MOVE INTO NEW LEVELS OF DIVINE COMPASSION?
Having opened our hearts to flow in Christ's compassion, it is important to
realize that we need to be willing to allow the Holy Spirit to prepare us to
carry the weight of such a pure and perfect anointing from Father. There are
certain components of Christ's nature that must be sown into the hearts of
believers in order to help ready us to carry the anointing of compassion. One
such aspect of Christ's nature is that of purity in motivation.
THE MULTITUDES
When Jesus looked on the multitudes he was moved by compassion. He didn't see
the multitudes as symbols of power or success or as a means to personal
fulfillment or ministry expansion. He did not look upon the multitudes in pride
with a view to increase the size and scope of his ministry. Neither did he view
the multitudes with any kind of self-interest. It is sad, but true, to say that
we do not always respond with such pure motivation. Sometimes in our zeal to
fulfill passion, we sometimes miss compassion. May God forgive us and teach us
how to look upon the multitudes with His heart.
JESUS AS LORD AND SHEPHERD KING OF THE HARVEST
"Jesus went through all the towns and villages,
teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing
every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds he had compassion on them
because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he
said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask
the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest
field.'" Matthew 9:35-38
The crowds were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd, but when
Jesus looked at the multitudes He responded as a shepherd king with a servant
heart, caring for them and showing compassion. He had their best interests at
heart, and He let His Kingdom passion find its fulfillment in compassion through
the healing and comfort of the sick and afflicted.
It is of significance that the Lord spoke of harvest in the same breath as
compassion. Compassion is a key to unlock the end time harvest.
BECOME LIKE A CHILD
"At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked,
'Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?' He called a little child and had
him stand among them. And he said, 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and
become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the
kingdom of heaven.'" Matthew 18:1-4
The parable of the little child is a wonderful illustration of pure as opposed
to impure motivation. The disciples were arguing amongst themselves about who
was the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven. By way of response, Jesus called a
little child to stand in their midst and said to them that in order to enter the
Kingdom of heaven they (and we) must become like little children.
I wonder what it was about the little boy that the Lord saw as being the epitome
of humility? I love the fact that this child (of God) had no agenda, save
obedience to Christ. His Master called his name and he came and stood at the
feet of Jesus immediately, with no argument or demand for recognition. Sadly,
the disciples were not so selfless in their desire for recognition and
reputation. However, before we are too hard on them, let's pause a moment and
allow Holy Spirit to reveal to us if we have been guilty of a similar response
and let's prayerfully repent for any flesh-like desires for recognition by man.
May we become like the small boy, who had no thoughts of self - instead he was
totally Christ-centered. Deep in his heart, the wee boy knew the greatest truth
of all - that Christ and Christ alone is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.
He had no desire to elevate himself, he simply wanted to serve Jesus. He was
humble and did exactly what Jesus asked of him, when he was asked. He did not
argue back or question Jesus. He was simply obedient and stood with his Master
awaiting instruction. He didn't have an agenda! May we emulate this child's
faith and surrender to Christ.
LEARN TO SERVE
"Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Jesus
with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him. 'What is it you want?'
he asked. She said, 'Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your
right and the other at your left in your kingdom.' 'You don't know what you are
asking,' Jesus said to them. 'Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?' 'We
can,' they answered. Jesus said to them, 'You will indeed drink from my cup, but
to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those
for whom they have been prepared by my Father.'
"When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers. Jesus
called them together and said, 'You know that the rulers of the gentiles lord it
over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with
you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and
whoever wants to be first must be your slave - just as the Son of Man did not
come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.'"
Matthew 20:20-28
Compassion and the anointing for miracles contained therein, is a mighty and
weighty anointing from the Lord, and our hearts must be sifted from pride to
permit us to walk in it with purity. In Matthew 20, Jesus teaches his disciples
concepts of Kingdom authority; relationship with God, servanthood, and authority
go hand in hand. Jesus taught his disciples that they were not to lord it over
people, but rather they were to serve them. A position of Kingdom authority is
given from Heaven to bring glory to God.
Jesus always led his disciples by example, and His next demonstration of love
serves to undergird His wonderful teaching. The very next miracle recorded by
Matthew is a demonstration of the Lord's compassion.
LEARN TO SEE WITH 20-20 KINGDOM VISION
"As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a
large crowd followed him. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when
they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, 'Lord, Son of David, have
mercy on us!'
"The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the
louder, 'Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!'
"Jesus stopped and called them, 'What do you want me to do for you?' he asked.
'Lord,' they answered, 'we want our sight.' Jesus had compassion on them and
touched their eyes. Immediately, they received their sight and followed him."
Matthew 20:29-34
Jesus' next act of compassion is to heal two blind men and give them back their
physical sight. This must surely have been a powerful living parable for the
disciples, to see people and situations through the eyes of Christ. The
disciples needed to have their spiritual eyes awakened to the Lord's compassion.
Compassion always carries the beautiful hand of Christ, His healing touch
releasing faith for miracles, for blind eyes to be opened, for deaf ears to
hear, for the lame to walk, for the dead to be raised, the Gospel to be
preached, the demonized to be delivered, the lost to be saved, the weary and
afflicted to be comforted, the wounded to be healed, those who are bereaved to
be comforted, the hungry to be fed...God's compassion knows no bounds. He wants
us to see people and seemingly impossible situations with 20-20 Kingdom vision
and to reach out in His compassion that He might release the anointing for
miracles.
Purity of heart releases compassion. Blessed are the pure in heart for they
shall see God. These blind men saw Jesus, not with physical eyes, but with eyes
of faith. Not only did they receive their miracle, but they also became
disciples. Compassion will harvest new disciples for Christ!
Our calling in this day is to be a people of faith who will not silence the
voice of the afflicted that calls for deliverance, who will not rebuke those who
cry out to Jesus for assistance, but rather we would reach out in Jesus' love
and allow Him to heal and save the multitudes. Our God is the God of the
impossible!

This book is a testimony of
Catherine's journey of healing with Jesus from childhood abuse, domestic
violence, alcohol, rape as a young adult, and deliverance from the occult into
the miracle of freedom in Christ. Jim Goll has the following to say in the
foreword:
"Written
in an amazingly transparent style, Catherine Brown's book The Normal, The
Deep and The Crazy adds a much needed gem to the prayer and prophetic
movements in these days. I have had the joy of interacting with Catherine over
the Internet over the past few years and meeting her in person. I appreciate,
immensely, her humility and genuine heart for Jesus.
"Having been in the prayer and prophetic movement for several years myself, I
look for clear voices that attempt to bring forth a word that honors the Lord
and edifies and challenges the body of Christ. This is what I found in the
ministry of Jesus through this clay vessel. Catherine Brown is a quick learner
and humble servant. She is one of the new breed; a faceless generation of
Esthers, Daniels, Josephs, and Deborahs whom the Lord is raising up to influence
this Impact Generation.
"With a whole heart I gladly endorse the content of this inspiring book. I trust
it will do for you what it did for me. After reading The Normal, The Deep and
The Crazy, I found myself more in love with our Father God who desires to
see restoration happen in the lives of countless numbers of warriors in waiting.
I sense the Holy Spirit saying, 'Come out of your caves! I will embrace you! I
will restore you! I will revive you! The best is yet ahead of you! Just as I
have done in the life of this broken vessel - so I will do for you!'
"To you, the reader, I commend these telling truths from a pilgrim of faith. May
the Lord impart to you the spirit of encouragement that all things are possible
to those who believe! To you, Catherine, blessings and thank you."
- Jim W. Goll, Co-founder of Ministry to the Nations, Franklin, TN
