Dear Elijah List Readers (and your friends),

The Scripture calls us to pray, not only for "Kings" (those who rule our nations) -- but to pray for ALL THOSE IN AUTHORITY.

Did you know that as Believers, we are neither "Republican" nor "Democrat" from God's perspective, but "Monarchists" -- which is to say we serve a REIGNING KING.

For that reason, the Scripture makes no distinctions of ideology or political party -- regarding praying for those in authority. We are simply told to pray.

1 Tim 2:1-4

"I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth."  

Now listen to this closely...While this is a "Let's pray for the safety and prosperity of the President of the United States...President George W. Bush list" -- if you are not equally blessing the Senator that is opposing him, Senator John Kerry, then part of the Kingdom message is being missed.

We are to bless EVERYONE in authority, of which the person who opposed the President is one.

Please -- if you are to take this prayer seriously, pray for President Bush AND Senator John Kerry...at the same time.

And for that reason, while this is a prayer list especially for President George W. Bush, let this also be an exhortation to pray for your own leaders, in your state, or in the Congress or the Senate, or any other person who carries authority.

I feel that there is a special grace given by God to all those who will obey the above Scripture and pray RESPECTFULLY for ALL those in authority, regardless of political affiliation.

Some Prayer Directives:

1) Pray that President Bush will receive increasing prayer support as each day passes.

2) Pray that all things hidden will come to light quickly -- especially regarding terrorist plots against the U.S. or U.S. Soldiers in Afghanistan or Iraq.

3) Pray that Osama Ben Laden will be quickly found and apprehended.

4) Pray that the political spirit that is dividing the country will be healed. Pray that President Bush will continue to be part of that healing process. Pray that God will infuse President Bush with great wisdom.

5) Pray that the counsel and advice that President Bush receives will only come from the Wisdom of God and that ungodly counsel will be rejected by President Bush.
