We will soon emerge from one of the most unusual times in history. Many of us have been isolated and set apart from the normal routine of life because of the COVID-19 virus. It has been uncomfortable and strange, to say the least. This is not a time to be wasted or squandered. God has something to say to us if we have ears to hear.
The Lord typically gives me a word to carry for each season. The word I am carrying in this season is "reset." God is currently resetting the course of individuals, businesses, ministries, and governments. Without a reset, we will enter the next season guided by assumption from the past, not a revelation for the future.
This reset is actually part of an equation that will help us receive strategic revelation to set our course for the next leg of our journey: Reset + Refocus + Rest = Revelation.
Reset
A reset takes us back to the original intent or meaning of something. This is not going back into history. It is actually resetting us in the present to create a new history under the guidance of God's Spirit. (Photo via Unsplash)
We can too easily drift away from God's original intent and then stall. We have not been called to live in a static representation of Kingdom life. Just before each new season, God will reset our priorities to His original blueprint. He does this to get us moving once again, motivated by His original intent.
Refocus
After a reset, new opportunities will refocus our efforts. This refocusing will create simplicity, helping to highlight the specific things God has called each of us to do. It will require that we say no to some things currently on our plate and yes to things we had not considered before the refocusing took place.
Rest
A place of rest is where God does His most significant work in us. If we are willing to learn how to rest, we will experience a depth of faith not known in a restless place. God gives us the power and authority to engage in greater exploits in His Kingdom from a place of rest. This rest is purposeful, calendared, and sacred.
This rest is more than just taking a day off each week. It must become a lifestyle, a constant way of thinking and living. Rest reveals the God-solutions that a stressed and burned out mind cannot perceive. Rest will be the place from which the next revival and reformation will be birthed.
We enter this place of rest when we choose to lay down our undisciplined ambition and our need to always have to produce to validate a lesser identity. We will enter this place of rest through a gauntlet of mocking voices and self-doubt. Those who cross the threshold and enter rest will step into the arena of belief in the God of miracles.
Revelation
Revelation is the product and goal of the completed equation. This is not a repetition of past revelations. It builds upon what has been shown in the past. It adds new insight not previously considered before the reset, refocus, and rest occurred. These are divine breakthroughs of revelation. (Photo via Unsplash)
Fear, especially of the unknown, will be our greatest enemy if we allow it to have a voice and remain unchallenged. Fear never has a place in any spiritual math we might calculate. We will need to intentionally exchange our fear for the certainty of God's love. He will walk with us through this equation if we ask Him for help and obey His instructions.
We are being reset to align our lives with a greater manifestation of God's Spirit as He invites us to partner with Him in new ways for the advancement of the Great Commission. As the world holds its collective breath, we have an opportunity to breathe in new and fresh revelation. That revelation will help move the nations of the world toward a flourishing future. This is an exciting time to be alive. Listen for the reset of God. It will reset the course of your life toward something new and previously unimagined.
