SEERS --UP AND COMING -- A FEW GUIDELINES

This is by no means an in-depth teaching - just a bit of help for those who are being used in this way.

THE PROPHET

There are basically two kinds of prophetic anointings that are in operation. There are prophets who prophesy by faith - they have a gift of faith for this and they simply open their mouths and out comes wonderful prophesies, and words of comfort, direction etc. I know many of these prophetic people and I admire them greatly - they are wonderfully used to impart and to teach others. I would call these people "prophets."

THE SEER

There are others, like myself, whom I call for the sake of differentiating, "seers."

When I was baptized in the Holy Spirit about 30 years ago, naturally a lot of supernatural things began to happen in my life. One day the Lord spoke to me and said, "Kathie, if you will present your body to Me as a living sacrifice, I will use your body to show you about My Body - and then I will take care of your body." I agreed but I had no idea what the Lord was taking about. But afterwards I began to notice that in meetings, or when I met individuals, or when I was praying, I would feel all kinds of things on my body ( please notice that I said "on" and not "in").

UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE HEAD

In Hebrews 4:15 it says, "We do not have a high priest which cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities...". When the Bible compares the church to a body, as in 1 Corinthians 12, that is not an idle illustration painted by Paul at random - but a true revelation of how the Body of Christ is meant to function. Each member functioning as it gets its direction from the Head (which is Christ) - i.e. if an object comes close to your eye - your eye-lid closes over it. If you step on a piece of glass your right (or left) hand ministers to it - picks out the glass. But the eye-lid doesn't get its direction from the eye, nor does the hand gets its direction from the foot, but from the head. So we all as members of the Body, minister to each other under the direction of the Head - Jesus.

As we are in touch with the Head (Jesus) He will often "touch us" with the feeling of the need of another member of the same body. This is what I call a part of the "seer" anointing.

A QUICK FEELING

When I am ministering to people at the end of a meeting, I often begin to feel something just for a few seconds, and the Lord also sometimes gives me a vision or word of knowledge, which all work together to help me minister.

I.e. Often when I start to pray I may feel as if there is an infection in my ears - in which case I know that negative words have been spoken in the ears of the person I am praying for...and it has affected their faith. It could be in their ministry, or perhaps it affects how they see themselves - inferior or fearful.

Words are meant to build up and edify and strengthen. Negative words do the opposite, they tear down and destroy faith. When words enter our ears they are like seeds, they can stay in the back of the mind and affect our faith. If I feel that sensation, like an infection, I take authority over the negative words and pull them out by faith - in the Name of Jesus. I tell the person to listen to edifying and faith building words.

OTHER EXAMPLES OF "SEEING"

Sometimes when I am ministering to someone, I feel one of my knees seem to give out - in that case I know something has been attacking their faith. "Lift up (strengthen the hands that hang down and the feeble (weak) knees," it says in Hebrews 12.

If I feel something in my eyes I pray for God's vision to be imparted fully - that they will see the whole picture. I bind anything which may be trying to interfere with the vision God is imparting to that person.

THE FIVE-FOLD MINISTRY IN THE FINGERS

The five-fold ministry gifts I feel in my fingers. When I pray or lay hands on someone - I usually know if there is any interference or anything trying to hinder the flowing of that ministry. It works like this: 1) Thumb -Apostle- it can wrap around the other fingers. 2) Forefinger -(pointer)- prophet. 3) Middle finger -(longest finger reaches out) - Evangelist. 4) Ring finger-Pastor (married to the Body). 5) Pinky -Teacher (can get into the ear).

ABOUT MY RIGHT AND LEFT HANDS

When I feel something on the fingers of my right hand I know the person has a developed, mature ministry gift. If it's on my left hand, I know the ministry gift is there in them, but it is not developed yet. In this case I do not say, "You are a prophet, or you are a Pastor," in case people start trying to run before they can walk. I would say, "You have a prophetic anointing, but it is not developed yet." I encourage them to get with people who also have a prophetic anointing, or leadership that can give the right input to develop their ministry properly.

THE ELBOW

Sometimes I am in a meeting ministering, or maybe in a restaurant or store, checking out, and it feels as if my elbow has gone out of joint. Then I know that person is in the wrong place, either job-wise, church-wise, or even trying to fulfill a role that they haven't been called to. While you are trying to fill a role that is not really your calling, then you AREN'T fulfilling the one you ARE called to. I pray for them to be Spirit led to the right position, place, area, or whatever the Holy Spirit shows me. If I am in a store and it has something to do with someone I don't know - they always turn out to be a Christian. The seer anointing doesn't work apart from the members of the Body of Christ.

IF THE SPIRIT IS MOVING THIS WAY IN YOUR LIFE . . .

Rather than take up more space here I have a list to help you if you feel the Holy Spirit is moving this way in your life. If He's not, don't look for it, it's often not very convenient (and sometimes people don't want to go to restaurants with you!).

For this anointing to flow, you need to get free from the spirit of religion so that you do not make any personal judgments, and be very yielded to the Spirit. In fact, I would encourage you to make a decision that your first loyalty is to the Holy Spirit. He is the one you have to please first.

A PERSONAL TESTIMONY REGARDING THE SEER ANOINTING

One little story before I quit. One time, I was with my husband who was ministering at a conference. Before the first meeting, the Pastor and his wife who were hosting the conference, plus the speakers and guest ministries, held hands together to pray before the first meeting started. As I held the hand of the man next to me, who was a very well-known, high powered minister, I felt my little toe begin to hurt badly. After the prayer had finished and people began to leave the room, I turned to the minister. I didn't want him to have to go through the conference with a heartache. "Excuse me," I said, "Are you hurting about something, a relationship?" I asked. "Well, yes, as a matter of fact I am," he replied. I prayed for him, felt the anointing, and the heartache lifted. As we walked toward the auditorium he turned to me, "How did you know about the heartache?" he asked.

"My little toe was hurting real bad when we were praying," I said, "God just speaks to me that way," I continued by way of an explanation. Well, the famous, well-known powerful preacher got very offended. He didn't like it at all that I referred to him as just a little toe.

But you see, a ministry gift doesn't mean that someone is more important than someone else. You can have an Apostolic anointing and yet in the Body be just a little toe.

In finishing let me make something very clear. When you feel those nudges of the Spirit, they are on you and NOT IN YOU. When you pray - it lifts. It is usually just a few minutes or seconds. It has nothing to do with any kind of sickness or illness. It is an entirely different thing.

OPEN TO THE SPIRITUAL REALM

Seer type people are usually very open to the spiritual realm. Visions, dreams, angels, heavenly visitations. The Lord's perfume etc, are all meant to be a part of our lives. We were created for the supernatural realm when we were born again.

None of these things are earned - they are received by faith. God moves in our faith - not our works and not our striving. Striving is the opposite to the nature of the Holy Spirit. It's great to see both types of prophetic anointing ministering together - one is not greater than the other. And it's possible to minister in both - but usually there is a stronger tendency toward one or the other.
