Many of you will remember that, for several years,
we have repeatedly proclaimed that the Lord was not done with the USA.
In fact, along with many leaders, we believed that a time would come
when the Holy Spirit would even begin to fall upon writers and producers
in Hollywood, and that God would use America's entertainment industry
to reach the world. We had a little saying that, in time, Hollywood
would be known as "Holywood." Beloved, the first fruits of what we have
been praying for is emerging in the movie The Passion of the Christ
by Mel Gibson.
Instead of a weekly message, I simply want to encourage you to use this
movie as the tremendous tool that it is. Let us pray, and while praying,
reach to our unsaved families and friends. Remember, Jesus said, "And
I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself" (Jn
12:32). This "lifting up" was the demonstration of Christ's love on
His cross at Calvary; this media re-enactment of Christ's death is being
watched, discussed and broadcast around the world through the media.
Some argue it's too violent; others that it's anti-Semitic. If it was
a movie without flaws, it would not be controversial nor would it be
the rage of talk shows and news sources around the world. The movie
is powerful, heart-rending, close to Scripture and very violent (perhaps,
for some, too violent; so be wise about bringing small children). Yet,
God is obviously using this movie mightily to stir people's hearts about
Jesus Christ.
It's absolutely amazing to me. I am awed, but I cannot find one Internet
news service in any country or culture that is not carrying an article
about this movie; most are openly discussing the reality of Jesus dying
for mankind's sins. If you go to the internet search engine Google
www.google.com and click on their
news, you'll find close to 1800 news sites with articles about The Passion
of the Christ. Even Al Jazeera, the powerful Arab Muslim news service
that has been the outlet for messages from bin Ladin and Al Qaeda, is
talking about The Passion of the Christ (See

search for Gibson to find three articles).
Prayer army, we were created for this day; so, let us fervently increase
our prayer. Let us draw our strength from the Almighty, who desires
that none should perish, but that all men should come to eternal life
through Christ. Let us also pray for Hollywood. After the Janet Jackson
offense, a huge national reaction has rolled through the U.S. Finally,
the FCC acted. As a result, at the highest levels of network programming,
broadcast CEO's are telling company executives that there will be "zero
tolerance" for her kind of stunt. Anyone who pushes the limit will be
immediately fired (one example, Infinity Radio
www.nypost.com/entertainment/18294.htm
). Already many shows are being rewritten and edited to remove more
objectionable material, and "shock jocks" are being fired and their
shows canceled.
As I have said previously, I believe the time is coming when Hollywood
will be called Holywood. Yes, there is something holy and powerful about
this gift The Passion of the Christ. But let us also stay sober and
focused. Our calling is not merely to stop the enemy but to pursue,
overtake, consume and shatter him (see Ps 18:37-38). I wept last night
as I watched the news as one reporter after another - people I never
imagined even knew Christ - were speaking boldly about accepting His
death for their sins. God has His hand on this nation and He is reaching
to the world.
Finally, let us pray that European anti-Semitism does not arise because
of this movie. Pray also that Israel will accept Jesus Christ, as both
their countryman and ultimately as their Savior King and that this will
be the beginning of the greatest spiritual awakening to sweep the globe.
