A Word and a Call to Pray for the Presidential Primaries,

THE CALL DC

On February 8-12, 2000, I went to Washington, DC for a monthly board meeting of The Call @ DC. On September 2, 2000, we are calling a massive gathering of youth with their natural or spiritual parents to fast and pray for a decisive spiritual shift in the destiny of America.

PRAYING PSALMS 2

These past five days have proven to be truly prophetic days for me. I was with my son and two friends as we completed our fast during the first 40 days of 2000. On the evening of February 9, God led us into some extraordinary, authoritative intercession concerning the government. We were praying Psalms 2. Suddenly my friend, Chris spoke, "Lou we are praying Psalms 2:8-12 for every day of this week! (February 8 (2/8) thru February 12 (2/12)). My faith was ignited! Psalms 2:9 says, "Ask of me and I will make the nations your inheritance and the ends of the earth as your possession. You will rule them with an iron scepter; you will dash them to pieces like pottery."

On the evening of 2/10, I felt led to go into Crown bookstore, sensing that I was to get a book concerning the matters on my heart. My friend Billy bought me a book by William J. Murray called "Let us Pray - A Plea For Prayer in Our Schools". Murray wrote about the court case of 1963 in which the Supreme Court struck down 170 years of legal precedent of public prayer. This effectively built a wall between religion and the state, a law that our forefathers never meant to exclude religion from the public sector but which intended that the state could not interfere with religious principle. The author is the son of Madeline Murray O'Hare, the famed atheist who became a flashpoint of an anti-spiritual revolution in America.

THEREFORE YOU KINGS BE WISE

I was grateful for the book and I sensed the Lord saying as we prayed, "It's February 10th (2/10) and Psalm 2:10 says 'Therefore you kings be wise, be warned you judges of the earth.'" The Church is to dominate the judges of the earth as they pray to their coronated King, the Anointed One, who rules over the conspiracies of kings and judges to remove God's laws.

The following morning, February 11th (2/11), I was wakened abruptly at 2:11am. As I read the book in the early morning, I was stunned by one paragraph,:

IT'S NOW OR NEVER

"The Church must pray for and decree to the Supreme Court and the government of America the rule of God 'Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling' (Ps. 2:11). In prayer, we are to command the kings and judges to govern and make decisions in the fear of God and His laws. Scripturally speaking, it is our duty and privilege to do so (Psalm 149:5-9 and 1Timothy 2:1-8). However, this was more than a scriptural injunction. I sensed this is a moment of "now or never." The Church must arise right now in an extended season of prayer and fasting for the prevailing influence for good government."

"I WAS ROCKED"

That whole morning, I was gripped by Murray's book, and inspired to pray for the Supreme Court. I prayed for the reversal of demonic decrees of 1963 Murray vs. Curlett, 1973 Roe vs. Wade and 1980 Stone vs. Graham. At 5:30 am that morning, my friends had agreed to meet a seasoned world intercessor named Dick. He was going to take us to his home for a morning of prayer. We entered the back of the Victorian style row of houses. He took us immediately to the front window to show us his intercessory view. We had no idea that his house faced the ACLU building, the Supreme Court building, and in the distance, the Capitol of the United States. I was rocked! What are the chances of such a prophetic series of events? We prayed that morning with a great hope in our heart for the turning of America. Then Dick took us to a lower condominium. Again, the condominium faced these historic buildings. He then told us that the condominium had been vacated and asked if we would like to rent it for intercession and use it as our East Coast office? I knew this was the word of the Lord so I "bought the field". God gave me a vision of six months of intercessory javelin pointing (Joshua 8:18) before the September 2, 2000 gathering.

GEORGE WASHINGTON ON HIS KNEES

I returned home and on 2/22/2000 (2222), George Washington's birthday, I took a day and night to fast and pray for our nation. In the room I stayed in, there was a bookshelf with a book by Dr. Richard Halverson, former chaplain of the US Senate. I took the book, and it fell open to a picture of George Washington kneeling and praying.

What a far cry from the government that removed prayer from the public sector. I began reading Halverson's chapter. In it, he recalled the installation of Sandra Day O'Connor to the Supreme Court. As he was watching the events of the day take place, God gripped him with the question, "Who prays for the Supreme Court?"

DOES ANYONE PRAY FOR THE SUPREME COURT?

After her installation, in a meeting of conservative lawyers discussing their concerns for the liberal course the Supreme Court was taking, Halverson was asked to make any appropriate comments. He asked the question, "Does anyone here pray for the Supreme Court"?

THE PRESIDENT IS BEING ELECTED TODAY, NOT IN NOVEMBER

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been burdened in prayer for God to raise up the leadership in America that he has ordained. I have been particularly gripped with the urgency of prayer for the presidential primaries. The President of America is being elected today, not in November. After reading Halverson's chapter, my spirit was stirred to call the Church in this nation to pray urgently for God's influence to prevail in the primary elections. The following morning, a prophet friend came into my office and I shared my urgent intent with him. "I need to issue a call for prayer now!" Suddenly my friend spoke, "Lou I had a dream!" In the dream, he saw George Bush and the election proceedings. There was much confusion and frenetic jostling for position around him. In the dream, there was much uncertainty as to the outcome of the election.

RENDER UNTO CAESAR

In the dream, my friend heard a voice speak loudly and authoritatively seven times, "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God's."

As he shared the dream with me, I knew instantly what the Spirit was saying: "It is the fullness of time! There is much spiritual warfare over the election and its outcome in the air!"

THE MEANING "SUDDENLY EXPLODED INSIDE ME"

The command of the Spirit, "Render to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's" suddenly exploded inside me. The Church has rendered the political process of election to Caesar when God has not. The elections should be brought under the overruling providence of God through fasting and prayer. We should be taking the process to a Higher Court. God has not given the elections of a nation to Caesar. He is installed as King of Kings. He expects the Church to give the elections God's influence through fasting and prayer.

We urge you to join us and many others in prayer and fasting on Friday, March 3 with Intercessors For America or Sunday, March 5 with Focus on the Family. Pray for the presidential primaries, the California election on Proposition 22, the Protection of Marriage Initiative and for the Supreme Court. The time is Now or Never, the call is "Render to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's". Will you answer The Call?
