THE FLOODS OF SOUTH AFRICA -- WHAT GOD IS SAYING TO THE NATION

Note from Alison Papenfus, Moderator of the AfricaProphecy list: The Scripture warns us not to despise prophesying.

When the Lord sends a prophetic warning we have the opportunity - as the church did in Acts 11 - to take note and do something about it before time.

In October last year AfricaProphecy sent out four "storm warning" prophecies. At the time several people said to me "this will have a natural and a spiritual fulfillment." Well, the natural fulfillment is most definitely upon us! Mocambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe and parts of South Africa have declared a State of Emergency after torrential rains, storms which have flattened crops and severe flooding in which well over a million people are reported to have lost everything.

I believe that we are at a crossroads. If we will open our hearts (and our bank accounts!) when we see the natural fulfillment then I believe God will trust us with his purposes in the spiritual fulfillment. Let those who have ears to hear - hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church!

WORD #1

Then suddenly the sky was filled with a huge black rain cloud. A fierce wind whipped up out of nowhere and a battering rain began to fall, huge drops hammering down. Lightening and thunder crashed across the square. Umbrellas were ripped away, and those who had held them fled. Raincoats were torn open and shredded by the fury of the storm, and many who had been wearing them shed the remnants and ran for shelter; those who had been playing in bare feet looked taken aback at the magnitude of the storm, and ran off, looking puzzled. But those who were already wet through stood their ground, allowing the rain to wash over them, unafraid of the thunder which crashed around them because they knew that the Lord was in control of the process they were in.

Then the Lord said "There is a storm coming. It will break suddenly and with intimidating fury upon this nation. To those who have been standing in my presence it will feel like an intensifying of the working of my Spirit in them and on them. Those who have stood in the soaking rain will stand in the storm that is coming. Those who have been called back from the dessert and stood wondering what my purposes were will know when the storm comes why I called them back. But many who were protecting themselves against the refreshing that I sent will find their defenses ripped out of their hands; they will be confused, and they will refuse to believe that I have sent the storm. But you are my people, and no storm can come upon you without my express knowledge. I have permitted this storm. It will be a curse to those who are not prepared for my coming. And it will separate the wise from the unwise - the anointed from the unanointed and the bride from the onlookers."

Then I saw the storm lift as suddenly as it had come. I heard the sound of wailing and mourning, but I could not see where it came from. In the square were a crowd of people, soaked from the storm, but strong and ready. They looked around for those who were crying out and walked out of the square leaving it empty.

The Lord said to me "Those I have prepared will spread my word wherever they go. I have shown you the hour for which I have prepared them. The hour is almost upon you."

WORD #2

Then we noticed a huge WAVE approaching us from our right. It was huge, and quite scary. Many people started to leave the rock. In the end the only ones left were my family and myself. I remember how I climbed one step higher towards my family members (who were one step above me), to be closer to them and not to get wet. I experienced both fear and trembling, as well as a sensation of excitement, adventure and expectation.

The wave came and crushed over us. We were wet! Soaking, soaking, soaking wet ... gasping for breath due to the freshness and relief (?) of it all. I remember the exhilarating feeling we had afterwards. It was as if we were empowered from on high when we left the rock to continue with our work.

WORD #3

Word & Vision Received - 10th September 1999

Vision : I saw a vision. A vision of the continent of Africa. In the vision I saw a river running through the middle of the continent. It meandered a little, but on the whole it continued in a straight path.

As I looked at the river, I noticed tributaries ran from it, touching each nation in Africa. These were smaller than the main river and there were many of them.

I then saw the river starting to overflow and it began to spread rapidly. South Africa was completely covered as the water spilled over the land. The flood then moved upwards, eventually covering every nation, the whole continent of Africa. Beginning from the south to the north, Africa was submerged in water.

Word :

The Lord would say to His people : Times is in My hands ! My hand governs time ! I know the beginning from the end and the end from the beginning !

I have chosen a season such as this to release My Spirit upon this nation, the nation of Africa ! I have chosen this time; man has not ! I have chosen this season to release My living waters upon this nation ! My river has been running, bringing life to you, O Africa ! But now I want every nation, within your boundaries, to know the fullness of My Spirit flowing powerfully ! I have chosen South Africa ! I have purposed that this country will now begin to see the fullness of this spiritual flood ! I have chosen this nation because it is a strategic point in My battle plans ! Every nation has a part to play in My plans and for South Africa, the time begins now ! A time for an incredible release of My power is now !

Heed these signs O Africa for they will spread to you ! No land will escape the flood of My Spirit ! Every part will know a dynamic release of My Spirit ! Africa is a nation chosen to bring forth warriors ! In this time of incredible outpourings of My Spirit, My warriors will be raised and will walk in rank and file into the battle ! The battle is mine, says the Lord ! The victory is complete !

The running over of My river is an indication of My love; not only for you

Africa, but also for mankind ! I have chosen you to be an example, a testimony of My living waters touching lives bringing radical change and renewal !

Africa, through this flood you will be set ablaze ! Burn bright for Me O Africa, let your light shine !

Others will see your light and marvel at My work in you ! They will indeed know the flood of My Spirit as they hunger for My touch, even as they have seen My power at work in you !

WORD #4

DREAM I was in a large church meeting , much like a Rhema Celebration meeting . One of the local ministers said to me that he had heard the weather report , and there were " Storms coming" . Then the visiting speaker who was from overseas preached and he also said he had heard the weather report and there were " Storms coming". There was no anxiety or fear in the dream , just the announcement that storms were coming. Given the context of the dream I think this is a warning to the local church .
