THE PRE-ELECTION "DANIEL 9 PRAYER" FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! and the call to "STAY HUMBLE--- BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THIS ELECTION!"

The Lord has been speaking to me for weeks about our need to humble ourselves at THIS TIME of the election, --that is, before, during and AFTER the election--even if the candidate You or the candidate I voted for is elected---we are to remain in a humble and contrite state.

The Lord is saying to me loudly, "STAY HUMBLE!"

It was my intent to write and post a prayer on behalf of the United States on this night before the election (or day OF the election, depending on when you receive this.) However, about the time I was going to write this prayer, into my email inbox came Donita Landro's Daniel 9 prayer for the United States of America.

After reading it, there was no need to compose my own prayer as this pretty much covers it. There are few Christians in the U.S. who don't know that we deserve some level of judgment for our sin in this nation.

IT IS GOD'S GRACE TO SEEK OUR REPENTANCE SO THAT HE DOES NOT REQUIRE THE MOST SEVERE JUDGMENT FOR US.

Some have written to me stating that it's "all over" for the United States. I must state that the Lord has made it clear in Scripture that we should always repent and seek the Lord's "relenting" of judgment.

WHO KNOWS WHETHER HE WILL TURN?

Even in Joel 2, it says,

Joel 2:13-14 And rend your heart and not your garments. "Now return to the LORD your God, for He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in lovingkindness, and relenting of evil. Who knows whether He will not turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind Him, even a grain offering and a libation for the LORD your God?

May you be moved with a spirit of humility before God at this time--not only that He will choose that man whom HE has chosen to be the next leader of the United States, but along with His choice, that He would choose the relent from the judgment that we so readily deserve for our sins of compromise and complacency in this Nation.

"GIVEN THE CRUCIAL MOMENTS OF THE ELECTION . . . "

Daniel 9 intercession -- through Donita Landro

Dear Steve:

The Lord laid Daniel 9 upon my heart. This is a picture of the United States and some of the prayers going up from our Body of Christ. Given the crucial moments of the election as I was driving to work this morning, I was prompted to e-mail this to you:

PRAYER OF REPENTANCE FOR THE UNITED STATES:

"O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our fathers, and to all the people of the land."

"Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame-the men of the United States, both near and far, in all the nations where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you. O, Lord, we and our kings, our princes and our fathers are covered with shame because we have sinned against you. The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; we have not obeyed the Lord our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. All the United States has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you."

BECAUSE WE HAVE SINNED

"Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against you. You have fulfilled the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing upon us great disaster. Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what has been done to the United States. Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us, yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. The Lord did not hesitate to bring the disaster upon us, for the Lord our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him."

"Now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. Oh Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from the United States, our cities, and your holy hill. Our sins and the iniquities of our fathers have made the United States and your people an object of scorn to all those around us."

"Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Oh Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. Give ear, O God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. Oh Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! Oh Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay because your city and your people bear your Name."

AT THE POTTER'S HOUSE

[The Lord said,] Go down to the potter's house, and there I will give you "my message." So I went down to the potter's house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.

"OH HOUSE OF THE UNITED STATES. . . IF THAT NATION REPENTS, I WILL RELENT!"

Then the word of the Lord came to me. "Oh house of the United States, can I not do with you as this potter does?" declared the Lord. "Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Oh house of the United States. If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or king to be built up and planted and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it.

. . . SO TURN FROM YOU EVIL WAYS!

"Now therefore say to the people living in the United States: "This is what the Lord says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you, so turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.

THE LORD PREFERS MERCY

Steve, with all the stirring in people's heart I see God's mercy in these words. If we are obedient, if we seek his face, and turn from our evil ways, the Lord is wanting his mercy released over the United States.
