Prophecy has tremendous
potential for encouraging vision, stimulating faith and bringing revival
and renewal into the heart of the Church. Misused, however, the gift can
engender strife, division, and confusion.
As prophetic gifts in the Church are burgeoning, this comprehensive and
timely guide will help to:
- give practical instruction on moving in
the gift of prophecy
- establish biblical guidelines for
churches to pursue the prophetic gift and ministry
- support church leaders as they seek to
build a credible local partnership with prophetic people
"The main
purpose of prophecy is not simply to foretell the future, but to equip and
prepare us for whatever happens in the future. This book contains biblical
teaching about Old and New Testament models of prophets. Graham Cooke
skillfully helps prophets and the intuitive with their communication
skills and wisely advises leaders on how to handle prophecies, including
those that seem off the wall."

Of Divine Unrest

Isaiah 62:1-12
(Amplified)
"FOR ZION'S sake will I [Isaiah] not hold my peace, and for
Jerusalem's sake I will not rest until her imputed righteousness and
vindication go forth as brightness, and her salvation radiates as does a
burning torch.
"And the nations shall see your righteousness and vindication [your
rightness and justice--not your
own, but His ascribed to you], and all kings shall behold your salvation
and glory; and you shall be called by a new name which the mouth of the
Lord shall name.
"You shall also be [so beautiful and prosperous as to be thought of
as] a crown of glory and honor in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem
[exceedingly beautiful] in the hand of your God.
"You [Judah] shall no more be termed Forsaken, nor shall your land
be called Desolate any more. But you shall be called Hephzibah [My delight
is in her], and your land be called Beulah [married]; for the Lord
delights in you, and your land shall be married [owned and protected by
the Lord.]
"For as a young man marries a virgin [O Jerusalem], so shall your
sons marry you; and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall
your God rejoice over you.
"I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem, who will never
hold their peace day or night; you who [are His servants and by your
prayers] put the Lord in remembrance [of His promises], keep not silence, and
give Him no rest until He
establishes Jerusalem and makes her a praise in the earth.
"The Lord has sworn by His right hand and by His mighty arm: Surely
I will not again give your grain as food for your enemies, and [the
invading sons of] aliens shall not drink your new wine for which you have
toiled; but they who have gathered
it shall eat it and praise the Lord, and they who have brought in the
vintage shall drink it [at the feasts celebrated] in the courts of My
sanctuary (the temple of My holiness).
"Go through, go through the gates! Prepare the way for the people.
Cast up, cast up the highway! Gather out the stones. Lift up a standard or
ensign over and for the peoples.
"Behold, the Lord has proclaimed to the end of the earth: Say to
the Daughter of Zion, Behold, your salvation comes [in the person of the
Lord]; behold, His reward is with Him, and His work and recompense before
Him.
And they shall call them the Holy People, the Redeemed of the Lord;
and you shall be called Sought Out, a City Not Forsaken."

A Divine Unrest That
Will Never Stop
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Lord has placed within us the spirit of
the pioneer. A divine unrest that will never stop, will never be in
plentitude, but always throbs with righteous hunger pangs to see the task
at hand finished.
Too many of us wait for the promise of his
coming, moping, barely getting by from the scraps that fall from the
table. We posture ourselves in an
await for a fresh "new" revelation, or illumination, instead of piercing
the darkness through aggressive prayer; grabbing a hold of his
garment till he heals and restores us.
We wait for a spiritual Moses to come on the
scene, to bring a new signpost, or billboard display, accompanied with a
Joshua to command the day. Instead of breaking upon the scene ourselves
with anointed "purpose,"
and destiny quest, that our spiritual fathers had.
The Kingdom of God is this:
Invade, Conquer, Subdue,
Alter, Declare, Pronounce, Restore, Affirm, Confirm, Reform, Establish,
Divide, Unveil, Obtain, and
Possess!
Too
many believers are still living in the former. They are sustained by the
"thrill of THAT moment." The
ecstasy of comfort. Not pursuing new territories, through His presence, in
obedience, true submission, spiritual mapping, and cohesive relationships.
We always, while going down the roads of destiny, tend to have a
contingency plan, watching for nearby exits just in case.
Isaiah 64: 1-4
(Amplified)
"OH, THAT You would rend the heavens and that You would come down,
that the mountains might quake and
flow down at Your presence, as
when fire kindles the brushwood and the fire causes the waters to boil--to
make Your name known to Your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at
Your presence!
"When You did terrible things which we did not expect, You came
down; the mountains quaked at Your presence. For from of old no one
has heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides
You, Who works and shows Himself active on behalf of him who [earnestly]
waits for Him."
A Generation of Pioneers Who Sing
The Songs of Zion
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
God is looking for this generation of
pioneers. They don't serve mediocrity. They don't devise a demarche, and
give ear to the hollow voices of the accolades of men saying:
"Where is the promise of His deliverance?"
They don't resound the bitter songs of
sorrow, They SING THE SONGS OF ZION!
Psalms 137:1-6
"By the rivers of Babylon-- there we sat down and there we wept
when we remembered Zion. On the willows there we hung up our harps. For
there our captors asked us for songs, and our tormentors
asked for mirth, saying, 'Sing
us one of the songs of Zion!' How
could we sing the Lord's song in a foreign land?"

Let The Redeemed of
The Lord Arise!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sometime back in Tulsa,
Oklahoma where my church home was, our pastor quoted these words that were
found on old soap or detergent boxes, that is truly a word for the body of
Christ:
Upon the plains of hesitation,
bleached the bones of countless thousands, that at the threshold of their
victory, sat down to rest, and while they rested, they wasted and died.
It is time we truly arise, Its time! We are
the ones coming forth with a new song, a burning passion for holiness, a
zeal for the house of His habitation! Let us not forsake what the Lord is
forming among us, but capture His heart, for our families again. Let us
press through with great joy for our communities and cities and regions of
the unclaimed. Let the redeemed of the Lord arise within us, a vicarious
passion for the journey that awaits!
Isaiah 51:7-11 (Amplified)
"Listen to Me, you who know rightness and justice and right
standing with God, the people in
whose heart is My law and My instruction: fear not the reproach of men,
neither be afraid nor dismayed at their revilings. For [in comparison with
the Lord they are so weak that things as insignificant as] the moth shall
eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool. But My
rightness and justice [and faithfully fulfilled promise] shall be forever,
and My salvation to all generations.
"[Zion
now cries to the Lord, the God of Israel] Awake, awake, put on strength
and might, O arm of the Lord; awake, as in the ancient days, as in the
generations of long ago. Was it not You Who cut Rahab [Egypt] in pieces,
Who pierced the dragon [symbol of Egypt]? Was it not You Who dried up the
Red Sea, the waters of the great deep, Who made the depths of the sea a
way for the redeemed to pass over? [Why then are we left so long in
captivity?]
"[The
Lord God says] And the redeemed of the Lord shall return and come with
singing to Zion; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads. They shall
obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away."
