MY DAD'S PASSING

Mark Fountain
Apr 24, 2000

Hi Steve! I just wanted to let you know that my Dad did pass on last Thursday April 20th at 4 PM shortly after being disconnected from artificial life support. It was on the Passover. We really want to thank all of the Elijah List members who took the time to pray on his behalf and those who took time write words of encouragement.

250 RESPONSES OF PRAYER AND PROPHECY

As of Monday evening, we have received nearly 250 wonderful responses from all over the world nearly all of which I was able to finish reading today. I really want to thank you for giving me a 'special dispensation' of posting my prayer request on the main list.

RESCUED FROM A "CHRISTLESS ETERNITY"

I'm feeling that these prayers literally had the effect of rescuing a soul from a Christless eternity. Please continue to pray for us that God would be glorified and bring His peace to my Dad's friends and family and that the Gospel will go forth at the memorial service next Saturday. Among the many encouraging testimonies and prayers as well as words and visions we received, there is one in particular from a lady in Virginia Beach, VA that really stood out and we would like to share it with you. It appears below. I plan to read it aloud and have copies at the memorial service as well as some of the other words we received.

In memory of Ed (Evart) Fountain
Blessings on you! Mark and Marcia Fountain

A PROPHETIC SEER GIVES A WORD BEFORE THE PASSING OF MARK'S DAD

Note from Steve Shultz: It is for precisely such situations as this that the prophetic gift is so very important. It is meant to encourage!!

Mark & Marcia,

I subscribe to the Elijah List and came across the prayer request for your Dad. As I started to focus in prayer on him, (my gifting area is prophetic and seer), I saw a hospital bed where a light came down like a curtain that you sometimes see in hospitals that is on a track in the ceiling, and that goes around the bed. This curtain of finely aimed light was doing that. Then I saw Jesus sitting next to the bed and in it was your Dad, of course, and Jesus took his hand in his and opened his fingers which seemed to be in a tight fist at first. I watched as the Lord unfurled his fingers and held his hand. I could see the scar of the nail hole. Your Dad didn't wake up yet, but Jesus was ministering to him speaking softly to his spirit man to awaken. I felt Jesus was sitting there as in a vigil. Then I saw your Dad's eyes open suddenly as if startled, and I sensed he saw a dark presence standing at the foot of the bed seeking him, but he turned his head just as quickly and saw Jesus with his head bowed and holding his hand, and Jesus took the fear and confusion. He somehow knew he was in the presence of someone greater, and the dark presence left. Your Dad noticed the scar as well on the hand holding his, and he wept in recognition and gratefulness. Jesus was closed in with your Dad in this vigil for his soul and He was not giving him up. As your Dad turned to look at Jesus holding his hand, there were no words spoken, he was reading eternity in Jesus' eyes and the path of his life and choices and tears would trickle as he saw the many years wasted without Him. His eyes were pleading as he tried to reach his other hand to put it on top of Jesus' hand holding his. Still no words were spoken. Then Jesus whispered that He was there to watch over him in answer to the many many prayers going up on his behalf. The kindness in Jesus' eyes and the love and the stark reality of his presence made your Dad greatly aware of his need and that he didn't want to ever be away from this wonderful man holding his hand. Then I sensed that he whispered in a frail voice.....Jesus...I'm yours, forgive me for denying you all my life...don't ever leave me. Then Jesus said...You're forgiven, choose you this day whom you will serve, and enter into my Father's kingdom.

The scripture that came to me and that I'm paraphrasing is from Rev. 3:7 He holds the keys of the house of David and opens what no man can shut and shuts what no man can open. Jesus has the keys to your father's heart and he can open what no man can shut.

In reflecting and seeking what else the Lord would add to this I saw in my spirit from your Dad's vantage point or perspective in looking at Jesus, over his shoulder and behind Him I could see a wonderful panorama of the beauty of heaven opened up as an awesome garden like nothing seen on earth and the sounds of birds singing sweetly in praise and joy and the smell of fragrant blossoms and flowers and their perfume filling the room. And Jesus, sitting in the chair humbly holding his hand became the awesome glory of heaven filling that room with his love and light and fragrance indescribable. The joy of it all choked your Dad up with tremendous longing to be where this was all taking place. But I sensed he wanted to let his family know. Beyond words, Jesus acknowledged that desire and gently nodded His head with a gentle smile....

Winding down, I saw the next scene of looking into your father's teary eyes and seeing this scene of heaven behind Jesus reflected there as it physically faded out of the room slowly, but it was still in your Dad's eyes and heart and mind and awakened spirit. He knew Jesus was with him there in that room, sitting, holding his hand and would never leave him nor forsake him. His focus is on that place and the man who gives life meaning, making it all possible.

I felt, all through this changing scene that the Lord wanted to do something in his life and situation that would bring him face to face with the greater reality of life and death, ....and did. In the process, all your Dad needed was a sense of His presence in the midst, and the power of His presence would do what was needed. We must continue to pray this in for him and praise the Lord that he does indeed..."Take our part with those who help us."

In His service, Dolores Franke in Virginia Beach, VA

P.S. I hope the Lord bears witness with this, and that it helps lift your spirits in some special way.
