A few years back, the Lord began to trim the overhead and even personnel at the Elijah List. Some things that we felt were truly necessary to this ministry – we had to "let go" of because God's favor was not on it.

One of those things was our prophetic magazine. It was beautiful, well done, and quite a new idea in the prophetic ministry. Yet God was not breathing His blessing on it, so we abandoned the very thing we thought would be with us forever.

Last spring the Lord began to speak to me regarding streamlining. He said, "You will do MORE with LESS in these coming days." I prayed into that and pondered it for a number of months. At Rosh Hashanah, 2013, the Lord confirmed a number of actions I was to take before the year ended.

The Lord is calling many in this season to expand and increase through streamlining and downsizing.

That may sound contradictory, but God is actually going to give you more fruit with less effort. Many have become weighed down emotionally, mentally, and financially, and have found themselves losing energy and freshness due to systems and realms of responsibility that seemed necessary in the past season in order to implement vision. Now He is going give you strategies for streamlining and perhaps even downsizing so that you will increase.

"Cut It Down"

One morning the Lord showed me a tree in our yard. It is a lime tree that we had for eight years but it never produced a lime. We fertilized it, trimmed it, and gave it the care and water it needed, but it never produced fruit. The Lord said, "CUT IT DOWN." He further said, "Anything that is not producing fruit for the Kingdom in your life, cut it down." 

If a tree is not pruned when needed, the fruit will not be good quality and will be low in quantity as well. A tree that is in need of pruning grows wild branches that demand water and care just like the fruit-bearing branches. The health of the tree is compromised as a result, and the fruit is sparse and small. The fruit-bearing tree must be pruned when needed.

One time I was shocked to the core when I saw a tree my husband had just pruned. I was convinced he had over-pruned, but he assured me that it was needed. Sure enough, the next year the tree was full of healthy growth and fruit. It recovered quickly.

The Lord is calling many to streamline and downsize in this season – not because you are unfruitful – it is the exact opposite. He is getting you ready for upgrade, expansion, and increase. You will do more with less.

Many ministries and businesses in this season will streamline their operations. It could even require that they lay off some workers. The owners and leaders of these entities might find it emotionally difficult to let some of their workers go, but God will open up doors for those workers that never would have opened if they had remained where they were. It will all work together for good!

You Are Being Called to Streamline Unto an Upgrade

The Lord had instructed me to UPGRADE with a new vehicle. I had sown a car into a friend's life over a year ago and had not acquired a replacement due to busy schedules. So recently, I was out shopping for a new car.

My favorite vehicle is a Cadillac Escalade. I went to the car lot with the intention of purchasing one as my "upgrade". But when I did the test drive, I had unrest in my spirit. It was so cumbersome. I had a hard time maneuvering and parking it. It was just too big...too "much".

As I prayed on the lot for the Lord's wisdom, my eyes went to a streamlined model – a beautiful crossover vehicle that was easy to maneuver and yet was still an upgrade for us. We love the new vehicle. It is easy to drive, it is economical, and it is beautiful – a streamlined upgrade.

The Lord said, "This next season will be just like that for many of My people. I am calling them to streamline, but in the streamlining they will be upgraded and increased."

God is going to do amazing things through His people in this next season. He is preparing us for a great harvest. You might be called to streamline your life – to downsize, get rid of the clutter in the closets (both physically and spiritually) – so that you can upgrade, multiply, and increase in ways you can't even imagine.
