"Buffet your body and bring it into subjection! I have been speaking with you for some time about this have I not? And you have started the race well at times. But what I desire now is for you to exercise your will and chart a reasonable regimen of discipline and dogged determination. Let my Spirit lead you in this.

"Yes. He knows about buffeting bodies and weak wills. Great reward awaits you if you will do this. Disqualification will surely occur if you do not. It is that simple! I want you to disable your body's control over you.

"Subdue it and cancel its control. My ultimate prize for you is found from living according to my Spirit and not from continually rewarding the desires of your human flesh. Repent! Buffet your body and bring it into subjection!

1 Corinthians 9:27 ---

"But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." AND ("Like an athlete I punish my body, treating it roughly, training it to do what it should, not what it wants to. Otherwise I fear that after enlisting others for the race, I myself might be declared unfit and ordered to stand aside.")
