=================================== RESPONDING TO STORMS -- By Jim Goll Welcome to a portion of the June 2002 Vision Cast Hosted by Jim W. Goll The Full Vision Cast can be found at: http://jimgoll.com/ =================================== Entry Scriptures - Amos 7:1-8 "This is what the Sovereign Lord showed me: He was preparing swarms of locusts after the king's share had been harvested and just as the second crop was coming up. When they had stripped the land clean, I cried out, "Sovereign Lord, forgive! How can Jacob survive? He is so small!" So the Lord relented. (Changed his mind - NASB) "This will not happen," the Lord said. This is what the Sovereign Lord showed me: The Sovereign Lord was calling for judgment by fire; it dried up the great deep and devoured the land. Then I cried out, "Sovereign Lord, I beg you, stop! How can Jacob survive? He is so small!" So the Lord relented. "This will not happen either," the Sovereign Lord said. This is what he showed me: The Lord was standing by a wall that had been built true to plumb, with a plumb line in his hand. And the Lord asked me, "What do you see, Amos?" "A plumb line," I replied. Then the Lord said, "Look, I am setting a plumb line among my people Israel; I will spare them no longer. " NIV ------------------------------------------------- Revelatory Teaching - Amos: Holding Off Judgment ------------------------------------------------- A. Amos receives five visionary revelations. These are perhaps the premiere or classic examples of prophetic intercession for crisis intervention. Where there was the judgment of God pronounced, Amos set himself interceding until the Lord relented and his hand of judgment was lifted. B. Like Amos we need to be those who will hold off wars, hold off volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and natural calamities, by calling forth for the mercy of God to be released. C. We must also realize that the judgment of God can be His mercy, but we need discernment in these matters to cooperate with Him. --------------------------------------- Prophetic Prospective - Storm Warnings AND OUR RESPONSE TO EACH . . . --------------------------------------- Times of shaking are coming. His plumb line is being dropped, the canon/plumb line of His Word, and of His character is being dropped in the midst of the church, the nation and the nations, resulting in chiropractic adjustments to achieve His purposes. As this occurs we are seeing storms coming. There are three kinds of storms in this life. Each requires a different response. But increase in discernment is the need of the hour in the body of Christ! A. Storms of Godâs Judgment - Our response: A Cry for Mercy requiring brokenness and tenaciousness (James 4:13) B. Storms of Dark Demonic Attack - Our response: An authoritative place of intercession, requiring faith, endurance, boldness, believing in the promises and no common ground with the enemy. C. Storms of Consequences of Sins - Our response: Repentance requiring humility, lack of defensiveness. Take the humility dive in Jesus name! Each storm requires a different biblical response, but in one way each storm requires the same response - Desperation. Ultimately every storm can redemptively be used to forge character in us. ---------------------------------------------------- Blast From the Past - From the Life of Rees Howells ---------------------------------------------------- During World War II this passionate man, possessed of God sought His heart for the Naziâs strategies to be exposed and for deliverance to come to Britain. Often during this period of time they would know the enemies plans before they would happen and then pray until they received the break through. One such example of crisis intervention was in the summer of 1938, when the dispute arose with Hitler over Czechoslovakia, resulting in what became known as the Munich crisis. We now know that the voice Hitler followed, which coincided with the advice of some of his trusted advisors, was urging him to attack while Britain was still totally unprepared. War seemed inescapable, and the leaders of the nation called for a day of prayer. God made the challenge very real to the College, and for days the conflict was bitter. It was essentially a clash of spiritual forces - a test of strength between the devil in Hitler and the Holy Ghost in His army of intercessors. ------------------------------------------------------------ "THE ONE PRAYER THE HOLY GHOST GAVE . . . LORD, BEND HITLER" ------------------------------------------------------------- At the height of the battle the one prayer that the Holy Ghost gave to the College through His servant was, âLord, bend Hitler.â A point came when that cry of travail changed into a shout of victory. The devil had to give way. It was just before the commencement of the new session in the College, and the victory was so certain that Mr. Howells turned the opening day into a day of praise. An announcement appeared in the South Wales Evening Post on Saturday, September 17, stating that âThe Meetings (of the following Thursday) will take the form of Praise and Thanksgiving because God has again averted a European War. Hundreds gathered in the Conference Hall in that dark hour to join in praising God. In the days that followed the test ran higher and higher, but faith was steadfast, and on Thursday September 29th, the College and School were given a general holiday, to celebrate the coming victory. The next day, September 30, the Munich Pact was signed. War had been averted. It was certainly this victory, and the knowledge that the Holy Ghost was stronger than the devil in Hitler, that enabled the College to take the assurance a year later, when war did come, that was not the triumph of Satan, but it was âGodâs war on the Beastâ. -------------------------------------------------- Target Practice - Isaiahâs Persistent Petitioning -------------------------------------------------- True authentic breakthrough comes forth when Godâ people let their inner beings be filled with that which is in Godâs heart and the pain and the suffering, the agony and the oppression of a people grips there inner being and they cry out as a women in travail. A. Isa. 41:21-22 - Present your case. the Lord says, bring forward your strong arguments... let them bring forth and declare to us what is going to take place. B. Isa. 42:14 - I have kept silent for a long time, I have kept still and restrained myself, now like a woman in labor I will groan, I will gasp and pant. C. Extreme results are proceeded by extreme prayer. 1. Isa. 62: 1-2 - For Zion's sake I will not keep silent, for Jerusalem's sake I will not remain quiet, till her righteousness shines out like the dawn, her salvation like a blazing torch. The nations will see your righteousness, and all kings your glory; you will be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will bestow. NIV 2. Isa. 62: 6-7 - I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth. ----------------------------------------- A Prophetic Burden - Redigging the Wells ----------------------------------------- God wants to release the anointing of crisis intercession as it was with Rees Howells who stood in the gap for Britain during WWII against the invasion of the Germans or that of Evan Roberts the Welshman who cried out âBend the Church and change the Worldâ and thus saw 100,000 souls pour into the Kingdom in six months. God is looking for a humble, contrite people with an authentic Spirit of faith and with the Spirit of revelation from the heart of the Father, and then get in the face of the enemy and say this far and no more! and then cry out - âOpen be the wayâ for the coming of the King. Even our President George W. Bush has declared (I believe under the spirit of prophecy), âEnough is Enough!â Letâs re-dig these wells of the past and call forth God authority to change history.
