Box 7265, Jerusalem 91073 Telephone 972.2.5704010, Facsimile 972.2.5704011 "Give us help in time of trouble, for the help of man is useless. Through God we will do valiantly, for it is He who shall tread down our enemies" Psalm 108: 12,13 --------------- PRESIDENT BUSH --------------- President Bush reiterated his strong backing of Israel's efforts to fight Palestinian terrorism and demanded that Arafat do more to stop the continuing attacks on Israeli civilians. "First of all, there will never be peace so long as there's terror, and all of us must … fight terror," he said. "The civilized world must band together to stop this kind of activity if we expect there to be peace and resolution in the Middle East," the President added. After a string of several suicide bombings, Bush said that Arafat must "make it absolutely clear that the PA does not support these terrorist activities, and use of his security forces to prevent them from happening." Rejecting the Palestinian argument that suicide bombings are a legitimate form of resistance to [so called] Israeli occupation, Bush said, "suicide bombers in the name of religion, is simply terror." Some in the administration fear that Palestinian terrorists may start to strike US targets. But for now, the White House is primarily worried that the Israeli-Palestinian war may spread, particularly to the Lebanese border. This is why the President chose to single out Syria and Iran, backers of Hizbullah, in his remarks over the weekend. He said they need to stop sponsoring terror. (AIPAC&JP) We need to continue to pray God's wisdom upon Pres. Bush. ------------------------ 20,000 RESERVISTS CALLED ------------------------ The IDF will halt its mobilization of the reserves with the 20,000 called up already and no major drafts are expected for now, said IDF'S Brig.-Gen. Ariel Hyman. Hyman urged the public to give broad support to the men called for reserve duty as well as their families. He also called on their employers and professors to make allowances for their absence. Hyman said. "Almost all called up have arrived with very little problems and we are not bringing anyone back from abroad." He said there has been between an 85 to 97 % attendance rate. He pointed out there were men who came to call-up stations practically begging to volunteer for duty. Many were older than the mandatory 45-year-old retirement age and still wanted to serve. "One man told me with tears in his eyes that they told him he was too old. Others said they were prepared to stay as long as needed. The draft represents about 1% of the work force not having a significant impact on the economy. (JP) We must faithfully pray for Israel's military and armed forces daily! ---------------------- DOCUMENT LINKS ARAFAT ---------------------- A document released directly links Arafat to terrorist bomb attacks against Israeli civilians and soldiers. The typewritten letter which was seized in Arafat's Ramallah compound, requests funds to pay for electrical and chemical components for the production of a month's supply of about 30 bombs. The document was submitted by the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a U.S.-designated terrorist group linked to Arafat's Fatah faction, to Fuad Shubaki, the Palestinian Authority's top procurement and finance officer. Shubaki is the Palestinian official responsible for purchasing the Karine A, a ship laden with 50 tons of Iranian arms that was intercepted by Israel en route to the PA. (AIPAC) Let the light dispel the darkness and the lies. ------------------- PA AMBULANCE CAUGHT ------------------- Israel arrested a wanted Palestinian terrorist using a Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance to transport explosives. It was stopped and searched between Nablus and Ramallah, and soldiers found the explosive belt under a stretcher upon which a Palestinian boy was lying. The boy's father, mother, and two siblings were with him in the ambulance. The belt contained 16 cylinders filled with about 10 kilo of explosives. The IDF spokesman noted that this is not the first incident in which an ambulance has been used by Palestinians to transport weapons or terrorists, citing the female suicide bomber - a nurse - who perpetrated an attack in Jerusalem in Jan. The spokesman noted the Palestinians have taken advantage of the fact that their Red Crescent ambulances and medical teams are not subject to constant checks at army roadblocks and said the seizure of the explosives proves the intention of the Tanzim to continue attacking Israelis despite efforts toward a cease-fire. Isalam Jibril, a member of Arafat's Tanzim militia who was driving the ambulance, said he was seeking to bring the explosives, including a bomb-laden belt used by suicide bombers, to Tanzim members in Ramallah. (AIPAC & JP) Pray for diabolical incidences like these to be exposed for the world to see. --------------------------- 11 SUSPECTED COLLABORATORS --------------------------- Palestinian gunmen in Tulkarm, Bethlehem, and Kalkilya executed 11 Palestinians suspected of collaborating with Israel. In Tulkarm, masked gunmen entered the local Palestinian military intelligence prison after the guards had fled the building and shot at point-blank range 8 Palestinians in their cell. The eight had been accused of collaborating with Israel and were awaiting trial. The gunmen dragged the bodies through the city streets before dumping them. In Bethlehem, Palestinian gunmen shot a suspected collaborator in the parking lot near Manger Square. The gunmen who allowed camera crews to film the man's body later confiscated the videocassette and warned them that they would hold the photographers personally responsible if the pictures were published. A complaint was filed with the PA, saying such actions restrict the freedom of the media covering activities in Palestinian areas. (JP) Pray for the truth to be known and for the protection of those that would try to help Israel fight terrorism. -------------------------- BATTLE RAGES IN BETHLEHEM -------------------------- Israeli tanks and infantry battled with Palestinian gunmen, some dressed as Israeli soldiers, in and around Bethlehem's Manger Square. The troops drove back the gunmen until about 200 shot their way into the ancient Church of the Nativity, built over the reputed birthplace of Jesus, to seek refuge. The standoff sparked running negotiations between Israel and the gunmen through the Vatican. The Palestinians continued to shoot from the church throughout the day. "Because of our military operation, they returned to their old practice of trying to use and abuse churches and holy sites in Bethlehem as a refuge and as a place from which they can conduct their attacks against our forces," a government official said. Elsewhere, a group of Tanzim gunmen took over the Santa Maria Church and held the priests and nuns there against their will, an IDF Spokesman said. "We in the IDF understand the symbolism of Bethlehem to the people of the world," said an IDF spokesman. "That is why a direct order to the forces fighting in Bethlehem is to not fire on religious structures." Defense Minister said Israel had "no intention to break into any church," but army officials said those inside would not be allowed to go free. Efforts to ensure safe exit for foreigners in Bethlehem were carried out. (JP) Pray that the PA scheme of using holy sites would be stopped. ---------------- KATYUSHAS FIRED ---------------- Anti-tank missiles and mortar shells were fired at IDF positions from Lebanese territory landing in the area of the Galilee Panhandle. A Katyusha hit an open area, causing neither casualties nor property damage. IDF gunners returned fire, and IAF planes attacked Hizbullah targets in Lebanon. The strike is the first Katyusha rocket fired from Lebanon since the IDF retreat in May 2000. "Israel cannot tolerate such a situation indefinitely", PM Sharon warned. "I would suggest to Lebanon and to the Syrians who are sending them, they should not view themselves as being safe," he said. His comments were echoed by Foreign Minister Peres, who called UN envoy Terje Larsen to his office to convey anger and concern over the latest attacks from Lebanon to the UN and the international community. "We are ensuring that we don't breach any agreements or any lines." Sharon said he is certain the IDF has contingency plans for dealing with the issue should it be necessary. A few hours after his warning, Hizbullah responded with a heavy mortar and anti-tank missile attack on IDF outposts. The IDF returned their fire. Regarding the developments in Lebanon, the IDF spokesman said, "Hizbullah is trying to heat up the area by shooting mortars and rockets at Mt. Dov and even trying to cross over the western sector of the Lebanese border. Hizbullah is reported to have stockpiled at least 8,000 Katyushas, many capable of hitting Haifa and the bayside suburbs, as well as arsenals of other weapons. Hizbullah's action, supported by the Syrians and Lebanon, is contrary to UN Resolution 254. (Arutz 7 & JP) "I will lift up my eyes to the hills…our help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth." Ps. 121 We call out to you in this hour, save your people, Israel.
