March 2012: Israel Awareness Month
Since February it seems like a new dimension of knowledge has opened up to us. During the month as I prayed daily, I felt the Spirit of God revealing to me that I was to dedicate the month of March to Israel. At first I was not sure why He would want us as a prophetic people to do this, but as March approached it became more evident to me that God had something He wanted to do for us as a result of our dedication to Israel. We are seeing and will watch as God protects Israel during March by sending troubling spirits to Syria, Iran and Russia, similar to the way He did with Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20.
What instructions did King Jehoshaphat receive from God as "a great multitude" came against them from Syria, from beyond the sea? God used a prophet to carry His message, "Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, 'Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God's...You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf...'" (verses 15, 17).
He told Jehoshaphat, "The battle is not yours but GOD'S...You will not need to fight in this battle." This is the same promise that He gave Israel through me in Detroit, Michigan, in 2010. What was Jehoshaphat's response?
"Then Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord, worshiping the Lord. And the Levites, of the Kohathites and the Korahites, stood up to praise the Lord, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice."
After praying, praising, and proclaiming, Jehoshaphat stood and said:
"'Hear me, Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established; believe His prophets, and you will prosper.'"
The end result was amazing. Read what happened:
"As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. The Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another" (2 Chronicles 20:18-23).
They destroyed each other!
So during this month I will be praying for Israel with you at certain times and also sharing the various messages I receive regarding Israel. It's going to lead to an "open Heaven" for us in the months to follow, specifically April. Read on...
Open Heaven
Samuel the prophet was born when there was "no open Heaven." 1 Samuel 3:1: "Now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli. And the word of the Lord was rare in those days: there was no open Heaven." Another version of the Bible states that there was "no widespread revelation." What does this mean? Malachi 3:10 speaks about this open Heaven. "'Bring all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be food in My house and try Me now in this,' says the Lord of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of Heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it...'"
During the period that Samuel was prophet, the windows of Heaven opened at a specific time only. Why was Israel void of God's spoken Word and His voice? Why was God not revealing Himself anymore? Let's read 1 Samuel 2:12-17:
"Now the sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know the Lord. And the priests' custom with the people was that when any man offered a sacrifice, the priest's servant would come with a three-pronged fleshhook in his hand while the meat was boiling. Then he would thrust it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; and the priest would take for himself all that the fleshhook brought up. So they did in Shiloh to all the Israelites who came there. Also, before they burned the fat, the priest's servant would come and say to the man who sacrificed, 'Give meat for roasting to the priest, for he will not take boiled meat from you, but raw.' And if the man said to him, 'They should really burn the fat first; then you may take as much as your heart desires,' he would then answer him, 'No, but you must give it now; and if not, I will take it by force.' Therefore the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord, for men abhorred the offering of the Lord."
What was the wickedness of Eli's sons? They profaned the offerings of the Lord, and made a gain to themselves, or rather a gratification of their own luxury, out of them. God had already provided competently for them out of the sacrifices. The offerings of the Lord made by fire were a considerable branch of their revenue, but not enough to please them; they served not the God of Israel, but their own bellies, being such as the prophet calls greedy dogs that can never have enough. They robbed the givers, and seized for themselves some of their part of the sacrifice of the peace offerings. The reason that there was no open Heaven and no blessing in Israel was because there was a profanation of one of the most sacred things that God instituted in order for man to please God – the offering.
The Offering
Remember, the offering was given by men to God, but ultimately it was given back to them to partake of almost immediately.
God simply accepted the offering by allowing the priest to partake of the offering as well, symbolizing His participation. The men would enjoy the sacrificial offering later with their family and friends. When you give to God it doesn't disappear, but instead it is returned to you to enjoy. The other reason for the Heavens being shut tight is because men despised giving the offering because of the abuse by the priests. Israel was sinning because of this and therefore God withheld His voice, revelation and His blessings. No open Heaven – no blessing.
Jesus was offered as the sacrificial Lamb, and even though the Father received Him back to Heaven, we are partaking of His body and Blood each time we share communion together. During the next few weeks leading up to Passover, we will be blessing Israel by PRAYING, PROCLAIMING and PROVIDING for Israel. I believe that we will experience an open Heaven in a far greater way, to the degree that God will prove Himself to us by pouring out a blessing that we cannot contain. COME ON!
During the month of March, we will be blessing Israel with prayers, proclamations and offerings. I believe this will open the Heavens in a greater way for us over Passover and during the festivities in April.
