Alert: 5.8 Earthquake Rocks East Coast, as Hurricane Irene Heads There Too

According to news reports, a 5.8 earthquake caused buildings to sway and tensions to rise along the east coast on Tuesday afternoon.
Although buildings were evacuated, there were no immediate reports of injuries or any major structural damage.
The quake’s epicenter was located in Mineral, VA, 83 miles from Washington, DC. There were reports of people feeling the quake all the way up the east coast, and in New York City, buildings were said to have swayed momentarily.
Earthquakes do occur in the east, however usually not as strong as those felt on the west coast.
Meanwhile, hurricane Irene--flirting with category 3 status--seems to be taking aim at the east coast and the computer tracks show it may make landfall possibly at North Carolina by Sunday. It is said to be the "strongest threat" of a major hurricane to the US in three years.
