Helen Calder: "5 Ways the Holy Spirit Helps You"

From the Desks of Steve Shultz and Julie A. Smith:

Steve Shultz

Are you in need of HELP in specific areas of your life right now?

This Scripture is an excellent reminder of WHO our Helper is that the Father gave to us:

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and remind you of all that I said to you." (John 14:26)

If you've been going through a dry time, this word will really help you realize WHO your Helper is, as Helen Calder writes about this in her recent word and opens with:

God is delivering joy in dry places. He is awakening His people to the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Like streams of water in the desert, the Spirit is moving to bring refreshing and fruitfulness—in your family, ministry, and every arena you occupy. He speaks words of encouragement to those who have felt dry. Hear Him say, "I am here with you."

Steve ShultzYes, He is always here with you and for you. You'll discover this, including 5 ways that the Holy Spirit helps you.

All I Have Made Available to You Is within Reach

Sometimes, the Holy Spirit will speak when you least expect to hear Him! I was preparing to leave the house recently, and as I walked toward our doorway, the Spirit spoke to me. It was as though the words were dropping like rain, yet I was receiving them in my mind. I heard Him say, "Therefore, with joy, you shall draw waters from the well of salvation... And you will know that all I have made available to you is not out of reach, but it is freely available; it is within reach."

At the time, I was standing by our "in and out" shelf, which is where we put our keys when we are about to leave the house. And I have reflected since then that the place where I was standing was also a part of His message. It was as though He was saying, "Pay attention to the keys; they are within reach. See, I have given you access."

5 Ways the Holy Spirit Helps You

1. The Spirit Is Present with You

Jesus said of the Holy Spirit, "...you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you" (John 14:17-18).

Someone needs to hear this: You are not disconnected; you are well-connected, for the Holy Spirit is with you. And the Holy Spirit personally provides you with help. (Photo via Unsplash)

In every season, the Holy Spirit is the anointing upon you, and the power of God that flows through you. There is never an instant where you are without aid, for the Holy Spirit is the great steward of the Kingdom. Like an administrator, He is familiar with all that the Father has made available, and all the riches that are yours in Christ—and He continually has access to these treasures (John 16:14-15).

2. The Holy Spirit Shows You What Is Available

Jesus wants you to know, firsthand, the salvation He has made available to you, and that there is no shortage in the Kingdom of God! No matter what turmoil surrounds you, with Him, you are rich beyond measure. He declares, "My provision, My bread, and My drink are plentiful and available to you. For I have set a banquet table before you—yes, even in the presence of your enemies" (see Isaiah 55:1-5; Psalm 23:5).

It's as Paul wrote, "Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God" (1 Corinthians 2:12).

3. The Holy Spirit Reveals God's Favor to You

"Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God." (1 Corinthians 2:12)

God is not reluctant; instead, your Father is generous in nature, and He delights to give. Jesus said, "Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom" (Luke 12:32; see also Romans 8:32).

The Greek word for "good pleasure" (eudokeo) speaks of willingness or good thoughts (see Strong's G2106). It's a reminder that the Father thinks favorably of you, and His hand is outstretched to give.

4. The Holy Spirit Reminds You of God's Word

The Holy Spirit knows the mind of God, and in a moment, He can reveal that to you (1 Corinthians 2:10). Jesus said, "...when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you" (John 16:13-15). The Spirit will also remind you of the promises and instructions of God throughout the Bible—which are a source of great authority!

5. The Holy Spirit Brings Joy in Every Situation

The psalmist wrote, "...In Your presence is fullness of joy..." (Psalm 16:11). The Holy Spirit brings joy, because He is God, present with us, and because joy is in His nature (Galatians 5:22).

When the Holy Spirit spoke to me, I recognized the words from Isaiah chapter 12:

"Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. And in that day you will say: 'Praise the LORD, call upon His name; declare His deeds among the peoples, make mention that His name is exalted. Sing to the LORD, for He has done excellent things; this is known in all the earth. Cry out and shout, O inhabitant of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel in your midst!'" (Isaiah 12:3-6)

"...And in that day you will say: 'Praise the LORD...'" As the Holy Spirit reveals what we have access to, our natural response is to overflow with praise!

May This Be Your Encounter

On a recent Sunday, my husband Malcolm and I were at our home church. While there, we encountered the love of the Father in a significant way. It was as though He reached down and gave us a big "Daddy hug." I pray this will be your encounter also, right now, in Jesus' name.
