"Quitting is NOT an option!" Those words are from a dear friend of mine, Prophet Julie Bailey from Australia. She recently spoke at my church and reminded us that we must make a choice to stand in the midst of battle and not run from our challenges. And it's true...we can't quit! This was a timely word to the Body. It stirred me so much, and I felt that a fresh passion was imparted from the Lord. God pointed out to me that this fire was a determination to go "full force" against our enemy.
I'm writing this article now because I want to encourage you. I want you to receive a fresh vision, a burning desire, and a clear focus to move forward and not retreat. We are in God's army; we're in a heated battle against evil, but quitting is NOT an option.
Believers, let that sink in a bit. If quitting is not an option for us, then it means that we have to continually choose to opt-in! When someone "opts-in," it means that they choose to subscribe to something. We need to subscribe to all that God says. In other words, we have to buy into it!
We must remain on alert! We are in a breakthrough season, but the enemy will use fear to try and distract us and get us off course. If you believe his lies, you have opted-in and subscribed to his "newsletter."
Sometimes we get battle-weary and discouraged. There are seasons when the storms of life seem to overwhelm our faith. However, we need to opt-in to the Word, God's eternal "newsletter," and make quality choices.
I want to encourage you, if the Lord is telling us we can't quit, then it must mean that He will equip us to remain in the battle! We need not fear. God says in Psalm 23:5 that He prepares a table for us in the presence of our enemies. This means we can continually eat from His table, remain in His presence, and remain strong and fit for the battle ahead.
Jezebel and Athaliah
Right now we are battling a vicious spirit of Jezebel in our churches, ministries, businesses and certainly in our nation. Remember, she comes against legitimate authority! But also, the spirit of Athaliah (Athaliah was the daughter of Jezebel) is aggressively attempting to destroy the generations. (Photo via Unsplash)
Most are familiar with the spirit of Jezebel. She was the evil queen who married King Ahab and is responsible for bringing idolatry into Israel. She had many of God's prophets murdered, sought to silence and even kill Elijah, and is the one who caused Elijah to fear to the point that he took off running and wanted to quit. In Revelation 2:18-29, Jesus corrects the church of Thyatira for "tolerating" Jezebel. Now, this was not the same Jezebel mentioned in 1 Kings, after all she was dead, but He was addressing the evil spirit that was still active in the Church.
Since we, today, are the Church, Jesus is addressing many of us as well. Are we also tolerating Jezebel? The word "tolerate" actually means "to allow, to accept and to endure." If we "yield" to a Jezebel spirit, we are allowing it to distort God's Word, falsely prophesy, promote idolatry, silence God's prophets and more!
Athaliah, Jezebel's daughter, was twice as ruthless as her mother. To secure the throne for herself, she illegally seized the throne of Judah and destroyed all the royal heirs, accept one of her own grandsons who was hidden from her. Yes, she targeted the destinies of the generations and the same spirit is at work today to steal the future of the generations.
Maybe you can identify with this attack; maybe your own children or grandchildren are being seduced by the enemy. Look at what many young people in our country are involved in or what has taken their very lives. The spirit of Athaliah is relentlessly working to destroy the destinies of our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Our Weapons – the Jehu Mantle and Relentless Praise!
But then there was Jehu. Jehu opted-in! Jehu was the one whom God anointed to defeat Jezebel and the house of Ahab. When it was Jehu's anointed time, Scripture says that he went forth with "full strength" against Jehoram, the son of Ahab (see 2 Kings 9:24). Jehu was focused; he was steadfast and quitting was NOT in his vocabulary. He went to Jezreel to slay Jezebel (2 Kings 9:33). There was no stopping Jehu – quitting was NOT an option!
Jehu was mantled with legitimate authority. We have this same mantle available to us today. This is a mantle that will empower you to go full force against the Jezebel spirit that is attempting to silence your voice, usurp legitimate authority, steal your destiny, and yes, cause you to fear, run and quit!
Receive this mantle today. The Lord is speaking this to us in this season: "Receive the Mantle of Jehu!" You have to choose to opt-in today and receive this mantle.
So we've discussed Jezebel, now let's quickly discuss Athaliah. As I stated earlier, Athaliah illegally seized the throne of Judah. She murdered all to save one of her own flesh and blood to secure the throne and become queen of Judah.
The name "Judah" means "praise." The Lord spoke to me clearly about going "full strength" in our praise to defeat this spirit of Athaliah. It was the priesthood that destroyed Athaliah and it will be us, as God's priesthood, who destroys this spirit that targets the generations. We need to praise the Lord with all of our might!
In Judges 20:17-18, the Israelites inquired of the Lord as to which tribe should lead the battle against the Benjamites. The Lord answered, "Judah shall go first." I believe the Lord showed me that our praise is going into new realms. God is going to pour out His glory, and this new glory realm will release divine strategies for breakthrough. However, it will require that we go full strength in praise and full strength in battle.
No More Lukewarmness
Going "full strength" requires that we rise up and remain on fire for God. Full-strength maneuvers will also require fresh passion. Unfortunately, many of God's people have been lured into slumber and lukewarmness.
Revelation 3:16 warns us not to be lukewarm. God would rather us be either hot or cold, but to destroy Jezebel and Athaliah, it will require passion. Yes, it will require going forth with full strength! There is no need to fear the enemy. We fight from the victory because Jesus won it on the Cross! God is promising us victory if we will receive and walk in the Jehu mantle. A godly mantle will destroy yokes. (Photo via Pixabay)
It's time to choose; will we choose to allow our generations as well as ourselves and our nation to be yoked with darkness, despair and defeat? Or will we opt-in with passion, vision and determination to receive the Jehu anointing and mantle? Stand up right now and declare, "YES! I receive the Jehu mantle and I will go forth with full strength!"

I highly recommend this book if you relate to the enemy targeting you with weakness, exhaustion, spiritual apathy and a desire to quit. Remember, quitting is not an option! God promises to empower you. You are more than a conqueror. So opt-in, you'll be so glad that you did!
Remember these words from Joshua, another mighty conqueror who knew the power of opting-in and choosing:
"...Choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Jehovah." (Joshua 24:15 ASV)
My prayer for you:
Father God, because the Jezebel spirit opposes repentance, I desire to repent for myself, others and our nation for tolerating a Jezebel and an Athaliah spirit. We have not used full strength to drive out her evil influence. Also, we have allowed "quitting" to be an option. Today I declare that quitting is NOT an option!
Lord, mantle us and clothe us with Your Spirit to use our full strength to establish Your Kingdom on this earth. Empower us with the keys of the Kingdom to bind the enemy, bind unrighteousness and corruption and loose Heaven's government upon our land.
Thank You that as we rise up as Jehu and exercise our godly authority, fruitfulness will be our portion. And, as Your priesthood, we are committed to overcoming the spirit of Athaliah.
